Re: Balloons

Hi Ted,
In Windows 7 it's under "Ease of Access". Type Ease of Access in to the
search box in the start prompt. In the Ease of Access Center go to "Make it
easier to focus on tasks" and hit enter.
Near the end of the options that come up is a setting to adjust the time
that those balloons stay on screen.
I adjusted mine to 1 minute which gives me enough time to find them and
click on them.

Those little suckers always get away before I can find them, let alone

Hi Lois.
Nope, I haven't had any problems with jaws 13 and needing to reauthorize.
Did you recently change something about your machine, like adding a new component? Sometimes the smallest thing makes Jaws think that you are trying to skirt around its copy protection.

Hello there;

Well, I think the situation is,
Yes you check the box;
checked the box that said "Disable tapping"
however I think if you want to disable, then you'll need to disable in the device manager,
or, go into the
start menu edit box,
type mouse,
enter on mouse,
shift+tab right arrow to devices and disable there.

If you need the mouse for some reason,
Then?
You could turn it on.

But it's still jumping up to random spots while I'm typing.

No, if you have disabled both your mouse pad and the buttons, you should not
be having any erratic movement of the cursor. Were you able to find those
places to disable the mouse, as earlier directed?

If those steps did not work, then you may need to have someone help you
disable the mouse in the System BIOS itself. It may not be manageable via
standard drivers, if it's an embedded part of your laptop.

I had to do that on my older Dell -- use the BIOS to completely disable both
the touchpad and touchstick.

Fortunately on this newer Dell there is an Fn key that disables/enables the
mouse and touchstick -- very cool. In my case it's Fn key plus F5.

Yes, I don't know HP laptops, but in my case, the touchstick is not really a
stick, but a round button fairly flush with the surrounding keys. It's not
always obvious, so make sure to hunt for one, just in case.

If this is a Dell laptop, then there is both a pad and a touchstick. both
need to be disabled. As suggested, for mouse work, just connect a simple USB
mouse for that.

Touchstick is located between G, H, V, and N.

Hello,
I’m wondering if anyone knows what’s going on:
I disabled the tapping feature on my mouse pad so sighted people could use
the mouse with the buttons. I know it’s disabled because when I tap it or
move my fingers along it nothing happens except for the mouse to move.
I’m still having the same problem I had when the mouse was enabled. At
random times I’m jumped to different windows, I’m moved to different places
in a document or email at random times and sometimes when I’m typing a
random bunch of text will be selected and deleted when I keep on typing.
Other people who have tested on my computer haven’t had this problem, so I’m
wondering if there is a way to find if there are some touch pads that aren’t
obvious that my hand position brushes? I don’t see anything except maybe
around the mouse pad or keys. There are lights around my spacebar and mouse
pad.
I’m running Windows 7 with Jaws 11. This jumping happens at random times and
in any application.
Thank you,

When this happens to me I reboot again and it usually authorizes then.

My PC needed to be restarted because jaws did not talk. I did so and now
it
asking me to authorize my jaws. I did it via EI and gave me a edit box and
a
connect button. I press on connect and still trying to do so. Anyone has
an
idea about the edit what it could be?

Re: jaws 13

Lois

During the last few weeks I've had my PC boot up wrong several times. What I mean by wrong is that when Jaws launches there are messages telling me that it is running in demo mode and will close in forty minutes unless I authorize and activate Jaws. Then there's another message about having to re-install video intercept. Rebooting usually solves things. Sometimes though I have to reboot more than once. I've been thinking about what could be wrong with my machine. But I'm now wondering about something in Jaws 13. I'm not as happy with this version as I have been with previous versions. So I'm wondering if others are having these difficulties.
Lois Goodine.

Re: shairpoint

Dave...

So with Firefox, what is the process to enter edit mode? Is it the same as
with IE? Auto forms mode on, or pressing the Enter key?

What version of JAWS? What operating system? What version of Internet
Explorer? Give us some help, here.

Well, when you are on an edit field of creating websites, it won't work.

Hi, Jaws should work reasonably well on sharepoint. Of course a sharepoint
site is highly configurable and your administrator may have done their best
to screw it up.
What is the nature of your complaint with sharepoint?

Do you know of a script that will allow Jaws to work with shairpoint?
