For example, JawsKey+H gives you a list of all the Jaws hotkeys for Winamp. Also, go into the menus, the Playback sub-menu for example, and simply arrowing through the options should also read you the shortcut keys to perform each action:
X for play, C for pause, V for stop Z to go back a track and B to go forward etc.

Sugar, just an observation: you might want to look into any shortcut keys for these programs, either those included with Jaws or those which are part of the programs themselves.

Hi Alicia.
I believe control plus the up and down arrows will let you jump around by paragraph. and at least in my copy of Word 2003, I can hit JawsKey+F and one of the bits of information spoken is if the line is centered, indented etc.

Editing papers with JAWS and Word

Starner, Alicia <astarner@...>

Hello All,

I recently turned in the first draft of a personal development paper and I
got back the handwritten peer reviews this afternoon. One of the problems in
my paper was the Tabbing indented the first line of my paragraphs too far.
How do you get JAWS to read the proofreading marks in a word document. I am
using JAWS 13 and Word 2010. I was under the impression that there was some
way you could get JAWS to tell you when there is a tab, when there is a
paragraph ending, and all that. I physically cannot see the beginning of the
paragraph to tell where all the indentions are to see if I can fix them, so
any help would be appreciated. This is a fairly long paper, so I don't want
to go line by line or word by word to find the tabbed indentions in the
paper. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alicia

Thanks for the suggestions.

Unfortunately, control + shift + G, although it does bring up the word count
info, that info is still not read automatically in jaws 13 as was the case
in previous versions.

The second solution does work but is, for my money, too labor intensive for
something basic that should be working before a release goes public.

Still, appreciate the info.

This is an issue that FS really needs to address.

I have the same problem and have gone back to version 12 because of
it. The only other "solution" I have is to read the word count info
with the jaws cursor. It's a pain but gets the job done.

This is an issue that FS really needs to address.

David,

Thanks! I had to go in a couple of times, but now, everything is smooth.

You can't beat Itunes, especially now with the BlindTunes scripts.

Hi,

Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement music player for Windows
media player? I'm currently using the media player in Windows 7 but it's
kind of annoying when the shuffle is on and it plays the same song back to
back.

And it's probably a real old thing to ask but can anyone let me have the
best of the singing JAWS.

Re: JAWS 13, and MS WORD'S "word count"

Kimber Gardner

Thanks for the suggestions.

Unfortunately, control + shift + G, although it does bring up the word
count info, that info is still not read automatically in jaws 13 as
was the case in previous versions.

The second solution does work but is, for my money, too labor
intensive for something basic that should be working before a release
goes public.

Still, appreciate the info.

Hi Curtis & Kimber,

While in a Word document, try the keystroke control, shift, + G.

You can also try the following;
1. While in the Word document you want the word count from, press Alt + T,
for tools, arrow down to Word Count, & press enter.
2. Route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor & press the page up button / key.
3. Arrow down 1 line at a time to get the word count & several other
statistics for this document.

Hope this helped. Take care.
Mike
