Yes, you can. Please mail to convert@.... You may also visit for more information to their site: www.robobraille.org. They convert the document in a variety of formats. I tried just last Wednesday quite successfully. There were minor errors but it was quite tolerable.

Thank you.

When JAWS reports "empty document', is there a place to e-mail it for interpretation?

Re: pdf's with JAWS--is there still a place to e-mail a pdf image for OCR?

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

An empty document, of course, means it is a scanned image. You will need an OCR (optical character recognition) package. JAWS 13, allegedly, has a light-weight OCR component built in.
I use an off-the-shelf product called OmniPage. I just tell it to convert the document. One has an option to interpret from a scanner or from a file.
There is a companion product called PDF Converter which operates as an Outlook plug-in. It works pretty well.
I know there is something called VizWhiz (sp?) where iPhone users can get sighted help. I've heard of some people taking a picture of the computer's screen and sending it to VizWhiz for interpretation. I've never tried that personally.

JAWS and Windows Mail

Rick Roderick <rickrod@...>

Hello, everyone,

Here is a message that is definitely on-topic.

I have Windows Vista on a 32-bit machine. Windows Mail came preinstalled.
When I write an address with autocomplete, it comes up properly. I can hear
it in JAWS, but on the Focus 40, all that appears is a semicolon. How do I
get addresses to appear properly. I am using structured mode.

The same kind of thing happens in Winamp, though not to the same degree.
How do I get all of my bookmarks to appear as I scroll to them? Right now,
they work to a point. Then, I can only hear them.

Re: accessing the various buttons on the command tool bar in IE 9 withJAWS 13?

Dave...

Dacia,

If you tab until you're in the search heading of your Internet Browser, I
think there's a tool bar section. Perhaps pressing spacebar there will open
any toolbars available?

Other than that, I never willingly wander into that part of the browser, so
don't know.

If they didn't get removed after uninstalling JAWS 11 and JAWS 12 then I
guess it's okay. Those will have nothing to do with shared components, since
you're removing them from inside the Programs and Features dialog.

1. How do I make a playlist of MP3 files for it?

2. I listen to a lot ofonline radio. I bookmark many of these stations.
Is there a way to put them in categories? I could do this when Real Player
was my main listening program, but I haven't figured out any way to do it
with Winamp.

3. When I go through my bookmarks, I can hear them without any problem, but
if I want to examine them on my braille display, they will no longer show up
after several lines. I am in structured mode.

Yes, you can uninstall jaws 11 and 12, on the other hand, do not remove your shared components, for jaws 11 and 12, or jaws 13 will not work, and you'll need to reinstall jaws 13 again!

in a word doc.
hit f6 until you are on the statous line on the bottom of the app.
now arrow accross the buttons until you hear word count and hit enter
now f6 back to the doc. edit field and now you should be able to do insert

Thanks for the suggestions.

Unfortunately, control + shift + G, although it does bring up the word
count info, that info is still not read automatically in jaws 13 as
was the case in previous versions.

The second solution does work but is, for my money, too labor
intensive for something basic that should be working before a release
goes public.

Still, appreciate the info.

You can also try the following;
1. While in the Word document you want the word count from, press Alt

for tools, arrow down to Word Count, & press enter.
2. Route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor & press the page up button
/ key.
3. Arrow down 1 line at a time to get the word count & several other
statistics for this document.

Hope this helped. Take care.

I have the same problem and have gone back to version 12 because of
it. The only other "solution" I have is to read the word count info
with the jaws cursor. It's a pain but gets the job done.

This is an issue that FS really needs to address.

What are you trying to do with Winamp? It's very easy to use and quite
powerful.

I currently use winamp, but I don't do anything but play and stop, because
it's not to friendly..

Hi,

Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement music player for
Windows
media player? I'm currently using the media player in Windows 7 but
it's
kind of annoying when the shuffle is on and it plays the same song back
to
back.

And it's probably a real old thing to ask but can anyone let me have
the
best of the singing JAWS.

Hi Alicia.
I believe control plus the up and down arrows will let you jump around by
paragraph. and at least in my copy of Word 2003, I can hit JawsKey+F and one
of the bits of information spoken is if the line is centered, indented etc.
Chris

For example, JawsKey+H gives you a list of all the Jaws hotkeys for Winamp. Also, go into the menus, the Playback sub-menu for example, and simply arrowing through the options should also read you the shortcut keys to perform each action:
X for play, C for pause, V for stop Z to go back a track and B to go forward etc.
