You need to get in the cell and then do f2 and then you can edit the text if
when you do f2 and there is no text you need to maxamise the screen

Subject: can't edit text in excel 2010

Hi,

I've just upgraded to office 2010 at work. In excel 2010 when I go to
a
cell with text in and press F2 to edit the text, jaws wont read any of
the
text in that cell, it is as if it is blank and pressing the cursor keys
left and right to scroll through the text in that cell moves the cursor
through the text but jaws is not reading anything.

Has anyone got any solutions?

Thanks in advance

Paul lemm

Hi,

Many thanks, I'll give that a go tomorrow when I'm back in work, that
sounds promising

Look at the preferences and see if the formula bar needs to be checked or
unchecked. I recall something about that being necessary.

Hi,
It reads fine when not in edit mode, when editing the cell I have tried home
end ctrl cursors and nothing . a sighted person at work confirmed the pc
cursor was moving through the text its just that jaws wont read it.

I hadn't checked if the screen was magnified though so I'll give that a try
tomorrow.

the kind of misbehavior I had with 11 and 12. Will it read the contents of
the cell with the reading keys, or is it silent there too? Also, is the
sheet maximized; that can make a difference.

Hi,

I'd checked and it doesn't seem to be in protected mode, I even tried just
loading up a new blank spreadsheet from the program list and I get the same
issue.

Clever idea about saving it to a flash drive and trying it a home as I know
I'm using the same version of jaws and office and excel is working fine , so
I'll try the flash idea.

Thanks

Re: can't edit text in excel 2010

Dave...

I think in JAWS 12 and later they changed the meaning of F2 and Ctrl+F2 in
the JAWS Keyboard Manager. Might want to check it out and edit. I continue
to make changes to each excel.jkm file as new JAWS versions are released, so
that I can have my favorite key combinations restored.

of
named Outlook.com?

Assuming it's the email program, JAWS has a topic on it in the Microsoft
applications section of "JAWS Help Topics."

It might also be worth Googling this list and Outlook for the many
helpful
suggestions listers have made.

Once a few adjustments are made, Outlook is accessible.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has used Outlook.com with JAWS and have you
found
it to be accessible? Are there any alternative settings that you've
changed.
For example, is there a lite version (like there is for the Outlook web
app)
or a Basic HTML type version (like Gmail has)?
Thank you!
Heather

Hi,

I've just upgraded to office 2010 at work. In excel 2010 when I go to
a cell with text in and press F2 to edit the text, jaws wont read any
of the text in that cell, it is as if it is blank and pressing the
cursor keys left and right to scroll through the text in that cell
moves the cursor through the text but jaws is not reading anything.

Has anyone got any solutions?

Thanks in advance

Re: Problems with certain pages in Firefox 18.0.1 and Jaws

Well, it looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. Thankfully though
my system doesn't crash. I just have to go into the task manager to kill the
app outright.
I went ahead and rolled back to an older version of firefox and that seemed
to have fixed the problem. I first tried going back to version 18.0, but
that webpage issue was still present, but version 17 is fine.

I have exactly the same issue. I open firefox and my whole computer freezes.
I just have to reset my pc and with IE9 I don't have any issues.

Have you tried contacting your school's tecnology department or whatever it's called? Also did you have an earlier version of jaws installed? If so, did it work? I'm asuming that you did, and that it worked fine. However, you may want to point that out if you choose to email them about it. You can also try using firefox. I don't know why, but sometimes black board and ie don't get along.
