Hi, Shirley. Please let us know if you got your desktop problem resolved, and if so, what did you have to do to solve it?
Thank you.

My computer started acting goofy this evening, and I was in a hurry to compose an important letter so may have rushed things along too quickly. Suddenly, my desktop disappeared. I can’t find it. Any ideas? It’s not in the recycle bin. (LOL).
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try rebooting?
Did you try pressing, Windows key + D, or M, to
take you to the desktop?
Did you press, Insert + T, to read the title of
the screen you're on?
Was your computer doing some sort of update and
wanting to reboot?
Did you get your letter composed and
saved?
What relation does composing a letter and not
having a desktop have to do with each other? What I mean is, as above, did
you finish the letter, save it, then you couldn't find your
desktop?
I'm not trying to be an A'Hole, but you're leaving
out a lot of things that could of, might of or maybe did!

Re: jaws 2020 renewal help

Jerry, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by installing the new platform. Are you using the JAWS home annual license or do you have the perpetual license, as in JAWS Home or JAWS professional?

How long after the pandemic started did it take you to add "Covid" to the JFW main or custom dictionary? I finally got tired of Spell Checker saying "misspelled" in MS Word and my emails and added it to the dictionary. LOL

Re: Using two web sites
Glenn / Lenny
I've used family search, and it's not too bad, you
need to make use of web quick keys, like E and N and H and V, and use the find
command.
It sometimes repeats previous information above
what you are looking for, so you need to make sure you are on the latest
incident of the information, and it may not be evident that it is a link, you
might need to enter on it without knowing if it will give you new
information.
I have spent many hours trying to find my great
grandfather's extended family, all I can get is New York in 1862, but no
siblings or parents.
Once in a while I try again, but never get any
further with it.

Re: Question for those using One Drive at home
Gezim Rexha
Apologies if I am writing off-topic, but since the discussion is about One Drive, I would like to share my concern related to it. Recently I installed One Drive also on my iPhone, but unlike Drop Box, I was not able to listen to audio books that I copied from my PC and ;pasted to One Drive. In fact, I could se the list of all files, but regardless which one I would click, I could always hear only one of them, I think the first one. Any explanations?
Cheers, Gezim

I think I paid including taxes $159 for 3 Tbs of storage with drop box. Using Marie’s logic, $120 for 1 Tb per user and you can have 5 different users is still the best bang for your buck. Strictly mathematically it is $120 for 5 Tbs of storage.

Chrome & in page links
Mark Arnold ABG
Hello List,
I have been using Chrome for several months and in general, I find it very workable. One problem I find is that when activating an “in page” link, JAWS does not start reading from that position. I have enough residual vision to see that it appears to move to the link on the page but does not read from that point. I would appreciate any comments-

Jim
Members
I have Win7 Home running Jaws 2020 and the latest version of Thunderbird. When I open TB Jaws doesn't open to the password dialogue. I typically have to wait a couple minutes then tab to the task tray enter on TB password. I have TB set to remember the password however I still have to enter each time I open TB. Please advise. Very strange!

JAWS can't manage Excel after an hour or so, as you probably know. Sometimes restarting it produces miracles. If not, rebooting sometimes makes a difference.

Hi, Ann. Alt+shift+apostrophe reports no comment visible in this cell.

Control+shift+apostrophe says no comments visible in active window. The application menu allows me to reply to a comment or delete it. Jaws does report when moving in to the cell, "contains comment" with that nice low authoritative voice.. Thanks so much for your help. All the best, Brian

Laura, I'm not sure if this is the best or most accessible solution but I use Wordpress.com for my Web site. If all you want to do is to have your own blog Wordpress should certainly suffice.

Re: Edge question
Do you have Edge on the taskbar? I am not sure why it disappears off your desktop, but on the taskbar it's always there and updates don't change that. I find the taskbar much more convenient for the main applications I use because I can open or switch to a program any time and from anhywhere by pressing Windows + NumberRow where NumberRow refers to the position of the program on your taskbar. I have Edge in the first position on the very left, then Outlook, then Excel etc. so pressing Windows + 1, 2 or 3 takes me to these programs respectively.

I know the first time it was because there was a new vertion or update, but I can't emagine that there'd be an update every few days. I know how to create the shortcut thankfully, but I'd like to know if there's a reason why it keeps disappearing, it's annoying. Look forward to any suggestions that anyone can provide me! I'm running Jaws 2018, Windows 10 vertion 1909 and the latest Edge. Thanks Madison
