Why on earth would Patrick use the temporary JAWS authorization, if you had been following his posts on the problems he had with it, you would know, that would be the last thing he would want or, wish to do.

 

Personally, I would not touch Microsoft Edge with a bargepole, no matter what version it is.

I will assume that you have this version number of the new Microsoft Edge:

Microsoft Edge Version 81.0.416.68

 

You also need to be running the latest version and build:

Version 2020.2004.66

 

This is JAWS 2020. This build came out earlier this week.

 

If you don’t have JAWS 2020 and this latest build you can download a free use of JAWS from the Freedom Scientific website which will be good until the end of June.

I have just installed the new chrome edge (stable version).

Can anyone make sense of this so called new brilliant browser?

No matter what i do in settings, it still insists on using the “bing” virus as a search engine. I imported my settings from google chrome, and it ignored them completely.

It wont let me edit a profile.

However, it keeps adding them. Now i have “profile1” and “profile2”.

Has anyone got rid of this “thing” after installing it?

Can someone with a science degree tell me how to use this piece of what seems to be rubbish?

Sorry, i don’t mean to be sarcastic, but i am sick and tired of Microsoft saying that their things are great, only to find, that they just don’t work with jaws.

Not really.  It is a lot simpler to remember that something you use occasionally is in a certain category, then you just dig through that category.  I gave up on the keyboard shortcuts thing a long time ago, way too much to remember and every program is different for anything but a few common tasks.  I think Chromium-based browsers are obnoxious for the poor menu design, I guess that worked for somebody who thought it was efficient.

Since I had to go and completely uninstall/re-install jaws and all components, I find the following and ask if you can help this not do this...

as I add a number list, I then hear automatic spelling error. How do I turn off automatic spelling?

As I arrow through the numbered list and out thereof, I hear level 1 when entering the said list and level 0 when I exit this list. How do I turn this feature off to not state levels?

Is this at the logon screen or after you put in your password or PIN and Jaws speaks at the desktop?

You might want to check Jaws speech history and see if what was spoken is there and post it.

Hello,

I’m using latest version of windows10 and recent version of Jaws2020.

When my laptop boots up Jaws reads a string of garbage. Is this common? Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Thanks, David.  Now all I need is to know how to use them.  Some people are really good with them.  I can open them on the desktop, but not on the m.facebook page, where I might want to play with them.  Any place that teaches that sort of foolish stuff?

Pressing the Windows key along with either the period or the semicolon key invokes the emoji panel, at least with Windows 10 build 1909. I don't understand why Microsoft uses both key combinations.

In the event that someone is using Leasey, which is a third party piece of software to add functionality to JAWS, you can press the Leasey key followed by shift-ctrl-E which brings up an easy to navigate list of emoji characters.

           There are a number of options.   I am going to qualify what follows with:  I am only interested in accessibility with regard to taking the backup, not doing the recovery.  I have been in a long recent discussion about this and there is nothing short of "extreme geek measures" I am not willing to take, and I doubt most would be able to take, to make a recovery process accessible.  Screen readers run under operating systems, and during a recovery you do not actually have a full-blown Windows instance running.  That's what you're trying to recover.  I fully expect that if recovery is necessary a sighted assistant will be as well.  If anyone can present a backup and recovery suite that is fully accessible, on both ends, even if it's just for taking a system image and later recovering it, I'm all ears.  So far no one has.

            Macrium Reflect Free is not 100% accessible, but it is entirely accessible for setting up a system image recovery then using that setup on-demand to take the actual image.  For myself, I always do a full system image, as those are the fastest to recover from.  You need to take (as you said you do) user data backups between your full system image backups if you're generating enough new files that you'd want to commit hara-kiri were you to lose them and/or have to do the work to re-create them.
