Pat,

You won’t get any arguments about the lack of accessibility with iTunes on Windows here.

At best, it is a program to be worked around/with.

After the demise of Window-Eyes, iTunes has been awful to deal with and was only somewhat tolerable with Window-Eyes.

The tab key will become your friend, or at least necessary companion, as well as control+COMMA TO OPEN THE SETTINGS AND TAB AND ARROW YOURSELF SILLY GETTING THE SETTINGS THE WAY YOU WANT THEM.

Yes, alt+f is the best way to get into the regular menus and then just arrow up down left and right….

I had to contact Microsoft Disability desk and the tech that handled it told me that the version that the Microsoft store was downloading did not have a means to do this with a keyboard command.

I am totally frustrated with this, perhaps someone could help.

I have just purchased a new ipad, and i have loaded the itunes app onto my windows 10 pc.

Everything is up to date, windows, jaws etc.

The app seems to be totally inaccessible with jaws.

Should I be using the actual program rather than the Microsoft store app?

Generally, i find apps not very accessible.

What kind of malware?

Unfortunately, because scanners catch PUPs now (Potentially Unwanted Programs), which are not malware, many see a PUP and think, malware.  That "potentially" is important.  Most things identified as PUPs are identified as such because, with the advent of the loathsome practice of software bundling, particularly for free programs, stuff ends up getting installed that wasn't done so with intent.  It is most often not malicious, but it is then, by definition, a PUP.  This is one of the reasons I strongly recommend the Unchecky utility.

The fact is that no scanner gets 100% of everything at any given moment in time.  What one catchs now, another won't catch until its next definition update.  It's the nature of the beast.  But unless you're dealing with a novel attack vector, which is the rare exception, virtually any scanner is going to catch it.

Well, to me, malware bytes is accessible enough and it gets the job done.  I've been using it for several years, and it generally doesn't get in the way and the price for the subscription is pretty good.

I realize it’s a small, hell minuscule, sample-size but the only malware I have received in the past 2 years was missed by Windows Defender. Luckily a MalwareBytes scan caught it. I’m not denouncing Windows defender because of this.

Finally, something I should have added in my original post, I use my computer for freelance work and receive files who’s origins I can’t always be 100% sure of. I don’t mind paying for peace of mind, I would rather not, but I don’t mind if I have to.

I don't think it matters where you get itunes.  Tab and shift tab are very necessary, alt doesn't seem to bring up the menus, but alt+f will give you the file menu and you can arrow around from there.  Not all that accessible, but for what little you'll actually need it for, it will sort of work.

Yup.  If you're using Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 then Windows Security is the way to go.

Look at the most recent testing results from the following antivirus/security testing labs, along with the historical results from the past several years if you want to see how Windows Security/Defender has been performing.  Windows Security has been solidly in the top 10, often top 5, and frequently beats out several well-known competitors that one must pay for.

AV Test

AV Comparatives

SE Labs  (Reports Page)

MRG Effitas  (360 Protection Testing Category)

The fact that it's turn it on and forget it, for the vast majority of users, as well as being accessible makes it an ideal choice.

Trend Micro and Bit Defender May or may not be accessible. There is a

provides Trend Micro and Bit Defender. This agency says it won’t use

I know the good and bad points of MalwareBytes and Windows Defender.

Hi, Larry. Albert was looking for a setting that would lower volume while other audio is playing, not a setting to manually raise or lower volume. That's why I didn't describe the new layered keystroke functions to set JAWS and system volume.

There are two that I know of and here it is:

Using the layered command JAWS Key + Spacebar followed by the letter V for volume, followed by the letter S for system and using the up and down arrow keys to adjust the volume.

If you have the Speaker/Headphone or some would call it the Volume Control, sitting in your System Tray, you can go there and adjust the volume.

Press control+shift+d for the Jaws default settings.

Type volume in the search box.

Arrow donw once and you should be on that setting.

Since JAWs has a good settings search, I'd suggest you look for "ducking."

I believe that JAWS and NVDA both call this feature audio ducking.

When the whole table is selected, and that's what you must do if you want the changes to be applied across all cells, when the context menu is invoked it should contain the AutoFit Item, which has three choices when activated:  AutoFit to Contents, AutoFit to Window, and Fixed Width.

Once the context menu is up, hitting A followed by F should do a Fit to Contents for every cell in the table.  Were you to want Window, the character after A would be W, and fixed width it would be X.
