in task manager Did you press on the more details button? if you our just trying to get to the start up tab another way is to use  msconfig.EXE. Just press the windows key type MSCONFIG. EXC then hit enter and go to the start up tab and that will have a link that will take you directly to the start up tab of task manager.

Call up task manager with shift control + escape and control tab to the startup tab and uncheck it.
Assuming you are using windows 10.

For the record, my new Outlook problem is with 2016, which doesn’t update via Microsoft. It could be a combination of changes in JAWS 2021 and MS 365, but in my case, I can blame only JAWS 2021.

I’ve contacted Freedom Scientific about these issues, and they acknowledge them.

 

They say they are related to Microsoft 365 updates.

 

It’s very frustrating, to say the least.

 

It makes me wonder whether the Microsoft accessibility people ever collaborate with Freedom Scientific prior to releasing updates.

I had to go in and set view to draft, and now all is ok again.

 

Also, this morning, when my e-mail downloaded, it was arranged in some sort of a weird view which was not readable by Jaws.  Had to go in and manually change the view to descending order by date.

 

I suspect all of this might have been caused by yet another Microsoft 365 update.

Unfortunately not. If I press TAB, SHIFT+TAB, CTRL+TAB, CTRL+SHIFT+TAB, LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DUWN arrows, nothing happens. I tried restarting the computer, then, I opened Task Manager and tried all the above keystrokes, again, nothing happened. I even went as far as to restore the computer to a previous date and time and tried using Task Manager again but, there was no improvement. I would really not like to have to reinstall Windows 10, just to get Tast Manager to behave as it should.

Can you left and right arrow after you open task manager?
If so, you can arrow to start up and then tab to the list of programs and find Edge and uncheck it with the space bar.

The changes are made available to Office Insiders for some time before release, so there’s certainly opportunity for any issues to be reported to Microsoft before a new version is offered publicly.

 

I don’t know how many screen reader users are actively testing and reporting any problems found, though.

It is possible that FS put script definitions in default.jsd that are
not in default.jss. Default.jss does include several "use" statements
that include code from other libraries. Also, the psd d files are used
for the command to insert a function in code, and for the  verification
that parameters are correctly listed for functions.
There is a JAWS scripting list on freelists. This list has most of the
professional scripters on it, so they get impatient if people ask fairly
simple questions. Also, if you ask can I get a script for Application X,
nobody will answer.
Please try to search the archive of over 10 years of scripting history
before asking a question.

Hi, David. The only thing I can recommend is, before you do your repair, go into Utilities>Explore My Settings, and remove all settings files. This is based on the behavior of INSERT plus SPACE, followed by Z. This runs JAWS with no settings configuration files in effect. Then do a JAWS repair, and see if this fixes the problem.

If I press insert-space, followed by Z to open a temporary default profile navigation commands work as expected.

As soon as I toggle back to my own profile I cannot navigate, select or copy the URL.

Here is what I have done so far.

  1. Run the JAWS 2021 installer to initiate a repair. Same behavior after the repair.
  2. As I use Leasey I then uninstalled that program. Restarting the PC without Leasey still did not fix the problem.
  3. Reinstalled Leasey with no change after PC restart.

I’m wondering if there are specific files in my user settings folder (not shared settings) which I could delete to see if that might fix the issue.

So far I can't get JAWS OCR (or Openbook) to scan with the HP Office
pro 8020 all-in-one printer/scannner. Windows fax and scan works
with it with no problem, but although JAWS lists the scanner as a
source, says it is processing, gives no error message ... the scanner
just sits there doing nothing. Any clue how to make the stinker work?

Glen,
There are no ports on the printer.

It may make a difference.
I've typically preferred to connect WIFI printers to the router and access
them through the network, instead of my computer having to negotiate another
WIFI connection.
Some of these devices you can connect them either way, and turn off its WIFI
and just plug it into the router.

Which version of JAWS are you using? Although I haven’t had this experience with Word, I am experiencing something similar with Outlook emails that I draft. I find that reverting from JAWS 2021 to 2020 restores reliable reading.

Are any of you beginning to have trouble reading documents in MS Word? Or is it just me?

 

I wrote an important letter to a company a few days ago, and I was trying to read it today to make some changes before sending it. I had trouble simply reading line by line. Did something change? Or am I in The Twilight Zone?

This seems counter-intuitive;

That’s like saying there’s a freelist for doctors,

And,

If anyone comes on there asking for remedies,

They will become impatient;

It would seem to me that the scripters would take advantage of those of us who don’t know how to do it,

In order to make a living.

After all,

If I offer to purchase one’s services to make me a script,

Why wouldn’t they do it?
