Re: screen automatically updating or refreshing
Bill White
Hi, Shirley. While your browser is open, press the JAWS key plus V for Quick Settings. In the search box, type the word refresh. You will see a result that says page refresh. Arrow to this result, and press ENTER. If your page refresh is set to automatic, try the space bar, and changing it to every 60 seconds. Then TAB to OK, and press ENTER. This may help to refresh your page more frequently.

Hi everyone,
When I’m online or reading email, my screen doesn’t always update (or refresh) automatically. I can’t figure out why, as it is intermittent. Any ideas? Is there a setting I need to change?
Thank you in advance for any help. 😁 Shirley Tracy

Well, That suggests that something about your JAWS installation is bad. I am also using Windows 10, Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.836).
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
If you are using the same Windows version and build, you might want to totally uninstall JAWS, reinstall it, and don't migrate settings from any previous JAWS version. Bill White billwhite92701@dslextreme.com

List Rules - Mon, 06/01/2020
#cal-notice
main@jfw.groups.io Calendar <noreply@...>
List Rules When: Description: http://groups.io/g/jfw/wiki/List-Policies
**List Policies** 1: Keep it clean. We're a family list, and there are people here who probably don't want to hear everything *exactly* that's running through your head. If you wouldn't see it on TV, it doesn't belong in a post to the list. If you're not sure, email the administration before you post it to the list. Otherwise, you stand to see your posts moderated. 2: Stay on topic. We're a JFW-oriented list. That said, anything related to JFW, its functionality with programs etc is acceptable. If it doesn't have to do with JFW, it doesn't belong on the list. This includes, but isn't limited to, talk of other screen readers such as Window Eyes. 3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject. 4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind. 5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration. 6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently. As always, if there are problems or questions with regards these policies, don't hesitate to send them off-list to jfw+owner@groups.io James,

Re: jaws question

Hi, Michael. Have you tried using Windows Narrator with Internet Explorer to see if you can get the context menu with SHIFT plus F10? I realize that Narrator doesn't navigate well with Narrator, but at least you could see if the problem persists while JAWS is not running. This way, you could determine if the problem is with JAWS or if it is with Internet Explorer itself.

RSS Reader
Cornelius
Hi all,
are there any RSS reader that works well with JAWS and support show article
as full webpage?
I use to use Windows Live Mail RSS, but looking for alternative as Live
Mail is an old program which may stop working in years to come.
I have also tried Thunderbird RSS, but it doesn’t seem to work on all RSS
feeds. Outlook RSS on the other hand, downloads full article as attachment which
is something not preferable.

It is a Bluetooth keyboard which is a trifold. However it does not have a number pad if that's really important to you. Tina

When I use the up/down arrow in the Inbox of Outlook, I am hearing repeated phrases. I hear either: If there are problems with how this is displayed, then open in a browser line breaks have been removed I may of not gotten the wording perfect above. Smile. Most of the time it prevents JAWS from reading the information for the message in the message list and I have to have JAWS repeat that message in the Inbox. I do not know if this is a JAWS issue or an Office 2016 issue. I have Office 2013 on a different computer with all else the same and I do not hear this. How to get rid of the extra chatter? Thanks in advance for any help. Barbara

Well, I have big hands. And for me the keyboard is perfect. There are some functions that you need to get used to. But other than that I find it very useful.

As suggested most likely the reading pain is on or some other outlook setting has changed. Sometimes after an update I’ve noticed a certain outlook settings can change.
