Mike and all:

I was able to follow your instructions for specifying how to copy content from web pages in Firefox, but could not find the virtual cursor options in the Jaws quick settings to make the change in Google Chrome.

Here are the steps I used, as copied from yesterday’s e-mails:

1. Open your web browser of choice.

2. Press, Insert + V, to open Jaws Quick Settings.

3. Press the down arrow key to find the option for select and copy. This is found under the virtual cursor options.

4. When you find the select and copy option, you can press the tab key to move to the help window. Use the say all command to read the help
information for the select and copy option.

5. Use, Shift + Tab, to move back to the tree view. Press the space bar to toggle the Select and Copy options.  Your options are, From virtual cursor,
and, Full content using on screen highlight.  Repeated pressing of the spacebar enables you to alternate between the two choices. When you hear the one you want, stop pressing the spacebar and go to the next step.

6. Tab to, Okay, press enter to save and close.

Can anyone tell me why the virtual cursor options don’t seem to be available in Google Chrome?

I’m using the latest build of Jaws 2020 on a Dell Windows 10 laptop here.

Thanks!

When making this settings change in a browser and using the Jaws quick settings feature, this should only effect the way text is copied while on the internet using this particular browser.  Each browser needs to be set-up individually using the same steps.

Making this settings change in a browser shouldn't change the way text is copied from a program like Word, but should only effect the way text is pasted into a program like Word since only the text is copied and then pasted.

Whenever you use the Jaws quick settings feature, Insert + V, while in any application this settings change is application specific to only this application and should not effect any others.

Here's a setting that you might want to switch to in Jaws quick settings if you haven't already.

Note, just to clarify:  If you choose the, From Virtual Cursor option, this will copy the text without formatting.
If you choose the, Full Content Using Onscreen Highlight  option, this copies the text with formatting.

What browser are you using?  Are you using the mobile version of Facebook or the full blown version.  I’m using the mobile version of face book and edge as my browser.  I used I E then switched to Chrome because it was more informative, giving me the ability to check on messages via messenger, notifications and groups.  Then Edge became just as good as Chrome in it’s accessibility so I’ve switched to Edge.

Hello,

I’m using windows 10 and Jaws 2020 most recent versions. I have been looking for Facebook documentation. Does anyone know of any thing will help? I’m always having problems finding the list of my friends. Or viewing a comment someone makes  which I get through an email.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hello,

I’m using Adobe Acrobat DC and if you have Windows 10 and its latest build and the latest version of Microsoft Edge, pdf’s will open in Edge.

I also have Docuscan from Serotek.

I am using Adobe Reader XI. Don’t remember where I got it. A Google search might locate it. After you get it you have to get into the menu’s and tell it not to update or it will update  to Acrobat .  Tom

Re: Which address do I use to contact the JAWS list please?

Ron Kolesar

Well, the reason why I’ve asked, is because I get it all set up in the message rule, then I see a letter with the second address show up in the In Box instead of in the Jaws Mailing List mailbox.
So, this is why I asked the question.
Many Thanks.

Hi,
You will want to use the first one you mentioned.
It’s also the address you sent your message to.

Thanks,
Jessica

For my fellow JAWS users.
I'm seeing two different addresses for shipping letters to the jaws mailing
list.
The two addresses are:
main@jfw.groups.io
jaws@groups.io
Now just when I have the correct address figured out so that the message
rule that I have set up for the address will go to the jaws mailbox, it
still shows up in the inbox.
So, that the JAWS mail will start going into the jaws mailbox, which address
should I use please?
Many thanks.

Re: Which address do I use to contact the JAWS list please?

I have never seen an address for this group that did not contain "jfw" as part of it.

All you'd have to do is send a message to the one of those two that you don't normally use, and if the jaws@groups.io is not an alias for this group the message will bounce back to you (or else go to the group that it belongs to, in which case if it's not this group you're already subscribed to the "other one.").  A number of groups do have e-mail aliases set up.  I stick with what's shown in the Group Email Addresses of a given groups.io home page for a group, which is, https://jfw.groups.io/g/main, for this one.

I noticed that too. I was wondering about the two addresses, do they belong to different mailing lists, if so, what's the difference?
