I find it disappointing that when Brian has merely stated a reality, that
all of us have to deal with change in tech, that others respond with
mean-spirited criticisms and put-downs. Brian frequently responds to
listers’ problems with thoughtful, helpful responses, and I appreciate his
generous contributions.

Why did you have to point out that he can see? I do not think of people being blind or sighted! I do not like it when blind people do this all of the time. I do not even think about my blindness most of the time, and I don’t think of people being blind or sighted. I don’t like labels. people need to stop doing this!

Re: Edge question
Maria,
Please give up this kind of insulting rhetoric. It's entirely uncalled for. I really don't care how old, or blind, or not tech savvy you are. That makes not the slightest bit of difference that you, like all of us, have to go with the flow of the technology stream as it goes along. You don't get to stop the world, nor do I, nor does anyone else. Given my track record here, and on a number of blindness related forums, your statements go beyond just insulting into outrageous. I suggest you think, and a lot more deeply and carefully, before tossing out your baseless frustration at me as though that's justified. It's not, period. So stop. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

Richard,
I am also having a problem with Firefox crashing. It only recently began happening. I’m running JAWS 2020 and Windows 10. Today, I tried Edge again after preferring Firefox. And to my happy surprise, it seems to be working much better for me. I’m more inclined to stick with Edge.
Cheerfully,

Microsoft Edge does not crash but Firefox certainly does and I’m using the latest Firefox, Jaws 2020 and Windows 10 2004.

Yes, here as well. I think it came with a new version of firefox. It has something to do with Jaws, I suspect because on one page where I can make it happen, it doesn't crash with nvda.
If anyone wants to have a crash with latest version of firefox go to www.cvstats.net and hit enter on country stats. Firefox will crash immediately.

That certainly works but what a far cry from the ease of creating favorites in IE.Also, creating favorites within a browser is still a CTRL+D away. I've generally recommended keeping Bookmarks/favorites manager open at all times as one of your tabs if you use these frequently. Creating favorites in a folder is now a workaround for a built-in function of the browser. I don't use bookmarks/favorites very frequently anymore due to browser history. After I type a couple of characters of a given website the full URL generally shows up in the dropdown list below. Now, mind you, I can see this and directly point and click, but down-arrowing is also possible, with enter to activate once you land on it. And the sites you use most frequently tend to be at the very top of those history lists. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

If you’ve done a Control C, then you can do a control V to paste the link into your favorites.

I agree – I have done this for years anyway. The benefit if this approach is that it can be use from File Explorer across different incarnations of default browsers and Windows installs. Actually I keep my Favourites folder not only with a shortcut on the Desktop but in DropBox where I access the same folder not only on Windows but iOS, Mac Os and in the past Android, I suspect it would still work there as well. Hello Brian,
tried the approach via the favorites manager - still quite cumbersome. It seems to me that longterm maintaining the IE favorites file on the desktop is much more efficient: I will still save the favorite in the Edge Browser with Control + d Additionally however - and this is certainly more work 1. Go with control + l and copy the web address of the page in Edce 2. Open the IE favorites on the desktop 3. create new shortcut with the application menue. After this I have the convienience of handling all subsequent accesses with keyboard searches etc from the desktop file. Klaus
