Creating a Graphic Label ManuallyTo practice creating a Graphic Label, use HJPad. To launch HJPad go to Start, All Programs, JAWS X (where X is the JAWS version number), Run HJPad. Using the Graphics Labeler is easy, but before you start ensure that JAWS is set to speak graphics. Follow these steps to be sure:
Now that all graphics will be spoken, you are ready to find a graphic to label.
Tip: To navigate to the toolbar, first press PAGE UP to move to the top of the window, and then press HOME to move to the top, left.
Note: To edit a graphic label, use the same procedure that you would to create a new graphic label, and just change the name of the label in the Graphics Labeler when it opens. To delete a graphic label, do the same, but delete the name in the Graphics Labeler.

According to Eric Damery and Glen Gordon in today's NFB meeting on JAWS, Mozilla is aware of this issue which was caused inadvertently by them in the Firefox 78.x update and it should be fixed when version 79 is released on the 28th of this month.

I'm thinking 78.0.2 is crashing less than 78.0.1 but still definitely not good! I'm using Chrome a lot more now, or else using Firefox with NVDA. I tried Jaws 2019 and 2020 and they both crash often with latest Firefox. On 7/12/2020 8:42 AM, Richard Turner wrote:

I'm waiting until I get the offer in the Windows Update Pane of the Update & Security Settings to Download and install the Version 2004 feature update before doing so. I'll still use the ISO method to apply the update then, as I've already downloaded the ISO and have it readily available, and that saves me burning through a significant amount of the 20 GB per month of high speed wireless data I receive under my plan. For myself, there's never any rush to apply a feature update prior to when Windows Update presents it. But since I have multiple machines that will need to be updated, and the Windows 10 ISO file is between 4 and 6 GB, on average, I always download it when the first machine says it's ready for update, then use it to update that machine and all my others afterward when they present me with the option to Download and install the feature update. It's a lot faster that way, too, even when you account for downloading whatever updates are identified as needed prior to the install starting. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance but to overcome it.

Maybe not. Maybe it just need someone to have a quick look at its Windows Update screen, or the event logger. I can do some of that for you via a screenreader connection, JAWS Tandem or NVDA Remote, your choice. I can't guarantee a solution, but another pair of ears on a problem is never a bad thing.

I use oneDrive at home with my Microsoft 365 plan. I believe you have a choice to store everything on your local drive, but even if it is in the cloud, you can opt to make it available off line. In fact, if it is in the cloud and you open it locally, it gets made available off line automatically I think. I’ve not notice any lag in opening files or anything. I can access my files from my iPhone anywhere this way, which I like. And after the latest DropBox update, I’m inclined to just use OneDrive. I get 1 TB of storage with my Microsoft 365 and likely won’t ever come close to that amount. My wife, who also is using the Microsoft 365 subscription also has her own 1 TB of space from the one subscription.
I think it works great and is easier than the current DropBox on my computer.

Hi All, Microsoft keeps prompting me to think about using One Drive on my home laptop. We just started using it at work. Can someone explain to me if One Drive is like DropBox in that I can store my files on my hard drive and choose which files to move to One Drive. Or, if I enable One Drive, will all my files be transitioned to One Drive and I’ll have to flag which ones I want to keep offline copies of? The latter is how we do it at work, but since I didn’t set it up on my work laptop, I’m not sure if I have a choice on my personal laptop as to how One Drive works. Just a little flustered about changing how I do things and being able to find my files.

OneDrive does a good job of intelligently working out what files you need in the cloud to save space. It is ab it like DropBox SmartSync. But like DropBox you can specify through the context menu on a folder or file files that you want to always keep on this device.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I am now a fan of Smart Sync and OneDrive intelligent syncing. I only have 512 GB drive on my laptop Windows machine and similarly on my Mac Machine. However whilst online I can pretty much instantly access nearly 3 and a half gigabytes of data with rarely any trouble, files just take slightly longer to load and it is really as if I have massive drives in my machines. The only thing is that you need to ensure that you keep critical passwords for connecting to the internet etc stored on documents that are always available either in DropBox or OneDrive or you may face the Catch 22 problem if your internet fails of not being able to access an internet connection because you need an internet connection to re-enter the password. Hi Robin,
I’ve been using One-Drive at home on my personal laptop for quite a while now, and I favour it to Dropbox.
I don’t have One-Drive backing anything up of its own accord, I copy and paste or cut and paste what I choose to keep on there, so I’m in full control.
Hope this helps,

Is there any way that you know of, to have only those words read out that are visible? My problem is, that when i save something to send to someone else, i think, that the formatting is all right, as jaws reads everything. Its only when someone asks "where is my info" that i find out it is not there. I tried saving it as a web page, but this is of little use either. I read somewhere on the web, that if you select the entire work sheet and then paste it into word, it creates a table. Yes it does, and jaws reads it out, but if there is too much text in the table column, it is wrapped in a way, that the first line of text seems to belong to the column above it. Again, this can only be verified by someone who can see it. pat -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Dan Longmore Sent: Wednesday 15 July 2020 19:36 To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: reading pdf documents with jaws.
