I'm wondering if there is a significant benefit in installing and using the Power Chute Personal Edition program for a user to access an APC UPS's features? and if so, if it is accessible with JAWS and/or NVDA?

I am inclined to plug in the UPS, computer and peripherals, and let it do it's job without using the PCPE.

I have used it on the iPhone, and for what I used it for, it was accessible. The app seems pretty straight forward, at least as far as audio is concerned.

My daughter’s teacher wants to try using Google Meets for her parent-teacher conferences.  Anyone have advice on whether this is easier to use on Windows with JAWS or on my iphone?  I don’t have any Google apps on my phone and don’t know if I would need to install one.  I do have Google Chrome installed on my Windows 10 laptop

Hi Richard and All,
I have as many if not more crashes in 2021. Generally, I cannot load NVDA orNarrator when this occurs. Sometimes, I can bring back speech by using touch gestures, occasionally, I can load Narrator which then brings back Jaws, and other times, I just have to restart my computer.
Best,

I seem to have the same problem.

I normally use excel for a glossary of terms. As I am a university student,
numerous terms that I have to deal with are new to me. Therefore, I have an
excel work sheet divided into four columns. In the first Colum, I have a
word that requires a definition, in the second Columb I have the type of
word i.e. verb, noun, adjective, or adverb; then, in the third Columb I have
the definition, and finally, in the 4th Columb I have an example of the word
applied in a sentence.

I have often observed that when I am using f2 for a cell within the first
column, I can comfortably use my left and right arrows to check the spelling
of a particular word. However, if I go to my third or fourth Columb, which
constitutes of multiple words, I am unable to use jaws to navigate within
the cell. This is really strange, and I have not found a solution to this
problem. I have also tried the suggestion mentioned below with regards to
unchecking the 'allow editing directly in cells' box, but it seems to be
unsuccessful on my end.

If someone has a solution of this, I, likewise, will be very grateful.

Below are the specs of my computer:
Lenovo ThinkPad laptop with windows 10 running on it.
Jaws version 18.
Microsoft office 2016

With the best of wishes,

Ali

Maybe.
1. In Excel, go to advanced options: alt-f, then t, then a.
2. Tab to "allow editing directly in cells" and be sure it is not checked.

Good luck!

It’s still loses focus like prior versions. Also it crashes with office 365 more than 2020. Overall pretty stable some nice new features but lingering issues remain.

Yes, mainly with outlook. I would agree that it seems to be larger emails and I’m not really sure if they have lots of links. I was just hoping for better performance with his main stream program with 2021.

Dan,
Which part of Office 365 are you experiencing more crashes?
I primarily use Outlook and Word, and some Excel, and have noticed some crashes, but I'm not sure it is more than with 2020.
It seems to be triggered mostly in Outlook on some emails that have lots of links I think, though it is hard to track down.

All seems fine to me.  I've had a few crashes, but no worse than usual, and I'll go for days with nothing interesting happening.

Hi all. anybody using the 2021 Beta of Jaws still using it with little or no difficulty?

Is the newest Beta release of 2021 still holding its own?

Thanks for response. Have not downloaded it yet and was just wondering.

Thanks again.

The program works equally well on my Windows 10 laptop running JAWS
2020 and my iPhone running IOS 14 and Voiceover.
