Re: What is the JAWS way to jump over the junk at the top of a websites pages?

Michal Nowicki <mnowicki4@...>

I'm afraid there is no single method that works for all websites, but
consider trying one or more of the following:
1. When you locate the main content, create a JAWS placemarker to mark the
spot. Be sure to apply it to the entire domain and to uncheck the "anchor
to text" checkbox if it is checked.
2. Use Flexible Web to create a rule telling JAWS where to start reading.
Make sure it applies to the entire website.
3. See if you can quickly skip past all the navigation links by repeatedly
pressing the letter n, which takes you to the next block of non-link text.
4. If none of these options prove practical for you, perhaps you can use
other HTML elements to find the main content, such as ARIA regions, lists,
form controls, frames, or buttons.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm using a site that has about 25 lines of the same gobbeldy gook at the
top of each of the pages throughout it's site.

What is the way to set it up so JAWS skips all that stuff when I go to any
page on their site? They have several headings and search fields within
those first 25 lines.

Thanks in advance, Keith

You may have accidentally hidden the ribbons. I believe the keyboard
shortcut to hide/show the ribbon is either Shift F1, or Shift Alt F1, but
I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully, someone on this list can clarify.

Re: New Jaws 16.0.4350 Build Released, Download Links + What's New In This Build

Gary King

I installed the 4350 build of JAWS 16 today, and so far it is working much better than the previous release. With the previous build of JAWS, I heard HTML code mixed in with text on some web pages using Internet Explorer 11 and in my email composition window. I also had some JAWS crashes while using Word from Office 10.

With this JAWS build, the HTML code is no longer spoken, and I haven't had any JAWS crashes in Word after moving around in a large document and doing some searches.

Isn't it fun installing an update to JAWS and finding out what's broken? Like Chicago Cub fans though, you always have hope for the future.

A newer model bluetooth headset should work with your computer, provided
your computer has that capability. I've paired mine with a couple of
bluetooth headsets in the past, without any major issues.

Would the Blue Tooth headset that I have for my iPhone work with my computer
- maybe not this older one, but a new one early next year?

Hi all,

I recently bought a bose blue tooth speaker that I could not make work.

Since then I removed the program and now cannot use my shedset and
microphone.

I hear a sound when I plug in the usb connection and the first time I
tried to use the headset I heard jaws say something about software being
installed sucessfully.

However neither my headset nor microphone will work.

I use jfw 14and have windows media along with winamp.

Thanks,

DavidHOW

Re: New Jaws 16.0.4350 Build Released, Download Links + What's New In This Build

Michal Nowicki <mnowicki4@...>

I never encountered this issue. I haven't heard about anyone else having it
either, so I have no clue what might be causing it. The only possible
solutions I can think of at this time are running a JAWS repair or, better
yet, uninstalling JAWS (along with all shared components) and reinstalling
from scratch. Good luck!

No, I'm talking about when I install a new Jaws update. It switches over to
the voice I have on my computer instead of using the eloquence voice I use
for Jaws. It''s real weird considering it didn't happen when I first
started getting updates for Jaws.
