Listers,

I just bought me this Tablit, however, I need the tutorial for the touch
screen, does that exist? I hope so. It's the top of the line Android.

Is there away to put jaws on this unit. I don't really mind using the text
to speech program, but if I could use jaws, I might.

Thanks to all.

Help with new external hard drive

Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.

Hi,

I have a new My Passport 2 TB drive that I've connected via USB to my PC -- Windows 7, 64-bit, running J16 latest build.

The drive is seen in Windows Explorer, and I can get to it fine, listing the several onboard folders, but I can't seem to do anything with it. All I get is a statement about a Context menu, but nothing I do generates any activity, whether using cursor keys, Tab, Control Tab, Applications key.

I'm stumped. I haven't had this problem with other drives of this type I've used, all of which were just plug-n-play.

Any help appreciated. Keith

I've just been over to Google, played "Just a Little Talk with Jesus," number 4. I am so sorry for you all who have lost the numbers. That would be far less convenient for me. It would be one thing if I'd never had them, but I am quite accustomed to them.

Best to you from,

Carolyn

No, not weird at all. I am also using XP and I still get numbered Google search results with JAWS 9 and IE 8. But with Firefox, I have never gotten numbered results.

Hi Again Bil,

Thank you very much for enlightening me about the Developers Tools. I've
never been in there, & it's very interesting, to say the least! However,
deleting the domain cookies did not help at all. Something though, on my XP
computer running J13, Jaws will read the search results numberically, but
not running J15! I had stated that J15 on my XP computer would read the
search results numberically, but I was wrong. Neither J15 or J16 reads
search results numerically on my Windows7 Pro computer.
Take care.

Hi again, Mike. I don't know that this will work, but you might want to try
removing the cookies for the domain:
google.com

You would do this in the following way:

1. Bring up google.com in IE.

2. Press the function key F12 to bring up the developer tools submenu.

3. Press the ALT key, and Right arrow over to Cache.

4. Down Arrow to Clear Cookies for Domain, and press Enter.

5. Close the browser, and reopen Google.com. See if this puts google back to
its default state.

Hello list,

So I’ve been considering grabbing one of these tablets.

Mainly for leisurely use. Reading eBooks, audio/video stuff, Internet
browsing and so on. I’ll maybe connect my business emails to it, but beyond
that, I don’t’ expect to use it for work related purposes.

My understanding is that Jaws will work on this device. My question is,
considering that this tablet appears to only have 1GB of memory on board,
how much will the JFW user experience be compromised by this? Sluggishness
in speech, overall device slowing down, can I have more than one or two apps
running in the background along with Jaws, etc.?

Can the memory in fact be upgraded/expanded to 2GB?

I would appreciate any feedback users of this or perhaps an alternative
Windows 8.1 tablet can provide with their JFW 16 experiences.

Thank you,

I don't know when this started, but search results with Google are no longer
being numbered in Windows 7, IE10, & J15 / J16. With XP, IE8, & J13 / J15
they are numbered. Does anyone know how to get the numbered search results
back? I haven't changed home pages or made any settings changes, but
something has happened, with Google possibley, so the numbered search
results no longer show. The search results show as headings only. All help
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

Google Search Results Not Numbered

Michael B. <mb69mach1@...>

Hi All,

I don't know when this started, but search results with Google are no longer
being numbered in Windows 7, IE10, & J15 / J16. With XP, IE8, & J13 / J15
they are numbered. Does anyone know how to get the numbered search results
back? I haven't changed home pages or made any settings changes, but
something has happened, with Google possibley, so the numbered search
results no longer show. The search results show as headings only. All help
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
Take care.
Mike

Hi, Mike. Whether or not you first press escape, Jenny points us to the
alt-f, open option. But I'm glad you posted now because I hadn't checked
this method when first reading this thread, and I don't think it addresses
the original question. Here's what I find.

To begin with, you can press o after alt-f to go right into the open tab.
Hence, alt-f, o.

When no document is already open, this "open" menu rings up the list of
files in the most recently used folder or, if Word has just been opened, the
location where Word folders are stored.

However, if there is an open file, this menu, among other things, indicates
if prior versions of the file exist and, presumably, enable you to open
them.

That said, the threshold question was whether, in recent versions of Word,
it is possible to find the most recent five, or whatever, most recently
opened documents. In Word 2003, you pressed alt-f, then arrowed up through
that list. I don't find that option after pressing alt-f, o.

Then alt-f. You will be on the ribbon

You may already be on open, but if you arrow up and down, you will find
open.

Tab to recent.

Tab again to the list of documents.

Also, pressing control-o for open and then tab will take you to recent.

Press tab to file list.

When you press control-o JAWS does not speak so tab anyway.

Kimsan <kimsansong@...>

If creating several play list in itunes, after opening up itunes, what is
the quickest way to jump to the play list?

I'm a week or so of a user to itunes, so I'm wondering if there is such a
keystroke, akinda to like CTRL y in outlook, alt 1 in outlook etc. If not,
am I forced to tab several times?

Thanks.

Re: Deleting temp files and cookies, etc.

Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.

Thanks, Adrian.

This didn't work, but it did somehow give me the facility to tab past a link field I thought I was getting stuck on. It turns out there was invisible, to the sighted viewer, text and graphics that advertised for the web designer. I found this out by doing a select and copy all and pasting in an email message.

JAWS read all the usual same stuff, but it wasn't visible to my sighted daughter. I selected all text and forced all text to black color, and, voila, that's when the text became visible to the sighted.

I sent the info on to the site owner who can take this up with the site designer if she wishes.

Thanks, Keith

This may seem like an indirect answer, but have you tried refreshing the screen with JAWS key+escape? If that doesn't work, try pressing F5 to reload the page, and then JAWS key+escape again. I've encountered the problem you describe, and these steps have always solved it.

Hi,

I'm getting a hijacked web page when I go to a certain site, replacing the the desired page with something Facebook -ee, and that cannot be closed.

This only happens when I go to the site with JAWS on. When sighted family members go to this site on this computer with JaAWS turned off, the desired webpage displays normally.

The site has looked int this, and it works fine for Chrome, Firefox, and Interenet Explorer, to sighted users, so they think it may either be something with JAWS or my computer.

I want to clear all cookies, temp files, and everything else from my Internet explorer 11 on my 64-bit Windows machine running JAWS 16.

I go to Tools and Internet Options in Internet Explorer, but I'm confused about whether the checkboxes listed there should be checked or unchecked to perform the desired deletions.

Can someone explain to me whether these boxes need to be checked or unchecked to delete these files?

Thanks in advance, Keith

Mike,

The escape is used to make it so that you can get to the ribbon. You are in
the back stage view.
