Re: JAWS and Outlook 2013 issue.

Carolyn Arnold <4carolyna@...>

I did not know the term for it. I just know that in Outlook Express, if I
wanted to send an attachment, say Canasta information, I could be in the
body of an e-mail, hit Insert I, Shift tab, then arrow or first letter
navigate to that entry in Documents (My Documents then) and enter; the
attachment would go out with the e-mail. Now, I have to go to Documents
and copy the document. I don't know if there is a less clumsy way or not.

What is the difference in Plain Text and HTML? Thanks.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

Hi folks! I've been dealing with this issue for quite a while now, and
cannot seem to get any relief. I'm having trouble with JAWS and Outlook
2013, particularly after I have been using it for a couple of hours.
JAWS will start to perform very sluggishly, and even sometimes, I get a
message saying that Outlook is not responding. It's really annoying.
Most of the time, I end up restarting my machine. Does anyone else have
this problem?
How have you addressed it?

Addressing envelopes with Word 2013

Cal

Hi. I finally figured out where to go to address an envelope in Word 2013, but when I try to do so nothing seems to be entered in either the address or return address fields. Is there some way to get JAWS 16 to recognize what’s being typed in and review it or can I assume that the information is being entered even if JAWS isn’t reading it back to me? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi all. I have my Outlook mailbox views set up as grid views, one line
per message, with columns for attachment, sender, subject, received
date, and size. It's not the default view, but I imagine it's a fairly
common customization that many Outlook users employ.

Prior to today's v16.0.4463 upgrade, as I arrowed to each message,
JAWS would say the word "unread" if the message is unread, followed by
the sender's name, followed by the subject, received date, and size.
Basically
it
would read every column for the highlighted email message.

After the upgrade, this is no longer the case. I still get "unread"
announced correctly for an unread email, but nothing else is read aloud.
Arrowing down through messages I've already read results in JAWS being
completely silent. INSERT+UP ARROW to read current line reads nothing.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

I've emailed FS's support email address, and am awaiting a response.

Hi, it's Annabelle.
I'm not sure if this is the right department for this question, but here
goes. I'm having trouble finding the View Options for a CD. I want to sort
the songs so they appear in order of track numbers, but it seems as though
they want to appear by name or as a manual order. How would I get to the
"View Options" dialog to fix it? I tried pressing Control+J, but nothing
happens. Also, is there a way for me to fix it so the CD appears in the
"source List", along with Music, Purchased, and all the other playlists I
have? In older versions of ITunes, Specifically ITunes 8.1 and earlier,
there was a tree view of items, the Source List, and when I inserted a CD,
the CD would appear in that source list. Now in newer versions of ITunes, I
expect it to appear in the list of Playlists, apparently the new-fangled
version of the Source List, but it's not there.

It actually wasn't bad. Since my attention span is about as broad as a toothpick I listened to a book while the computer did it's thing. When my input was needed I went back to the computer. If it weren't for multi-tasking I wouldn't task at all.

Judith, how was your speed? Our connection is a T1, and it seemed a little pokey this time. Of course, if that file continues to grow at its current rate, it'll one day need a Blu-ray, rather than a DVD, with all the ancillary material they load on now. That sucker is big!

This is how I undo protected view in Word 2010, on a document-by-document basis. Making the setting permanent would put your computer's security at risk.

Press alt, then f, then I, then e.

Oh goody gumdrop. That's exactly how my Silverlight interface behaves. I was really hoping the move to IE 11 would resolve that. Which version of IE are you running?

Ted, it's frozen, and I cannot close Outlook. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, with JAWS 17. I'm running Office 2013.

Can you close Outlook when you see that message, or are you frozen?
Also, what is your OS?

Hi folks! I've been dealing with this issue for quite a while now, and cannot seem to get any relief. I'm having trouble with JAWS and Outlook 2013, particularly after I have been using it for a couple of hours.
JAWS will start to perform very sluggishly, and even sometimes, I get a message saying that Outlook is not responding. It's really annoying.
Most of the time, I end up restarting my machine. Does anyone else have this problem?
How have you addressed it?

Re: JAWS and Outlook 2013 issue.

One time I forgot and hit Insert
A like in Outlook Express. It said attachments. I arrowed, because in
Outlook, for some strange reason the first attachment is the regular
e-mail or something; anyway, you can tell by the kb which to open. Now, I
wish there was a way from Outlook to be able to go up through my
Documents directory to get an attachment I want to send. I don't think
newer is always better, although we really hope it is.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

I got the same problems that you guys are reporting. Moreover working on
Outlook, if I open and email with attachments, when I press shift tab to
go to the attachments, and I press the application key, sometimes jaws is
not able to read the context menu, and Outlook stop working, then I need
to go to task manager and shutdown outlook manually.

Re: Accessible Driving Directions?

DJ

Brad,

Actually, I find Google Maps to be far less cumbersome than Mapquest. The
list of steps in a route is easily gotten to in spite of the option not
being clearly stated in the app. Even if you don't view the list of steps,
you can still scroll to see what all of the future steps will be while
navigating. I feel it is one of the easiest navigation apps to use on IOS,
for me at least.

Subject: Accessible Driving Directions?

Well, congratulations to Mapquest. The last holdout for breaking accessible
of their driving directions has done it at last. I knew when the opening
screen said, "A few things have changed," I was in trouble.
Anybody got another option? I tried Google Maps, but could never find turn
by turn directions there either. Clearly if you can't see, too bad.

Signed,
