Re: no luck with ESET Smart Security

Are you using the JAWS cursor? I find that helps a lot. In fact, it pretty
much reads everything then.

Not having any luck with this security suite. Jaws and NVDA can read
some elements but not enough to make it workable for me.

I wonder if Nod 32 uses the same interface.

IBM SPSS, using with JAWS.

Tim Ford

Hi All,

I have been asked whether JAWS can successfully access a statistics software program named
IBM SPSS; they are using version 23.

Does anyone know how well the software does, or does not work with JAWS? If it does, are there any navigation instructions for using JAWS?

Any assistance would be great!

Tim Ford

Re: Assisting in Resource lab

You would probably be stuck in 40-minute demo mode because the ILM authorization is something that has to be installed on a machine. It might be possible to get a dongle from FS though that plugs in to a USB port just like the flash drive does so you can use it anywhere.

Hello Listmembers:

This is the first of a couple of accommodations issues for which I would
appreciate your insight and assistance.

One of the activities that I will be involved in as part of my forthcoming
Americorps assignment is spending some time with clients in a resource lab,
providing assistance with resume development and modification.

Certainly, folks could email me their resume which I can access with JAWS.
However, to add some flexibility to the process, (in more of a real-time
sense, I could also have JAWS on a thumb-drive, plug it into the PC that the
client would be using and then review their resume, cover letters etc in
this manner.

On the other hand, it may be the case that these documents are available
via the Cloud and so, I wouldn't need to load JAWS on a thumb-drive.

I will reach out to my employer tomorrow to find out if resumes and such are
stored in this way. In the meantime, are there any specific things that I
need to know when accessing JAWS on a t.drive?

Best, Justin

how to fix issue with Word 2010 on saving

Tom Macha <toml614@...>

Hello, Word 2010 has started to display, “This file is already in use. Please rename file.” Upon looking in the dialog box it display, “normal” as a file name. I am running word 2010 and Windows 10. I went into the options on word and looked under, “Saving” and checked to ensure that the files were saving as, “Word .dox.” If someone could help with this that would be great. Thanks, Tom Macha

Now, do you hit Insert F3 to
get JAWS to search? I would
like that, but had a time
getting it to work right, even
after maximizing. I thought
the screen opened in Outlook
with maximization.

Of course, I have 16.
Occasionally, it locks up and
won't read blank lines or seem
to move. Usually doing a Spell
Check Run, regardless if I'm
ready to do so will unlock the
problem.

In windows 7, maximize can also be Windows-up arrow. In windows 10, you sometimes have to perform the keystroke twice ... because windows are sometimes set up differently.

Subject: JAWS Not Speaking when Arrowing Up and Down

Dear Listers:

When I use Outlook 2010 and try to search a folder, after I enter the
term(s) I want to search for, I hit the tab key once where I have the option
of either searching in the subject line only or searching in the subject
field and message body or search frequently used items. Whenever I try to
arrow up and down, JAWS does not speak, and I have to use the Read Current
Line keystroke in order to see what item is selected. This happens on my
home computer where I am using the latest update to JAWS 16. On my computer
at work where I am using JAWS 15, I do not encounter this problem and JAWS
speaks every time I arrow up and down, as it is supposed to do. Is this a
bug in JAWS 16, or can I do something to rectify the problem?

will jaws work whilst upgrading windows?

paul lemm

Hi,

I'm just about to upgrade my laptop from windows vista to windows 7, does
anyone know will jaws still talk during the upgrade process so I can click
any boxes/settings that come up during the process?

Regards

Re: JAWS Not Speaking when Arrowing Up and Down

Hi,

I've had this problem on both vista and windows 7, I can't seem to solve it
on vista but on windows 7 simply just maximising the screen solves the
problem. The keyboard shortcut for maximising the screen is whilst in
outlook press jaws key and space then scroll down to maximise window

Hope this helps

Paul

how do i find labels for a program?

David Ingram

Hi list members, I'm using a new program that doesn't have jaws scripts
written for it. I used the autographics labeler but the problem is how do I
now find the newly labeled graphics? I need to determin if the graphics
refer to buttons or what. Thank you for any information that you might
have.
