Re: Problem with New JAWS v16.0.4463 and Outlook 2010

Paul Martz <skewmatrix@...>

Hi Larry. I heard back from FS support, but their reply was not helpful.
They advised launching outlook with the "-cleanviews" option, which
essentially resets all the views for all the folders. This resolves the
problem, sort of, because it has the side effect of clearing the "show as
conversations" checkbox. But as soon as I manually check that checkbox, the
problem manifests itself again - message info is not read when arrowing
through the list of messages.

So the problem (on my system at least) is specific to the "show as
conversation" checkbox being selected.

I've written back to FS support with this info in the hopes that they can
provide a fix for the issue.

Regrettably, I have similar problems. I had to go back and install the
previous JAWS version to be able to review this email thread and be
allowed
to use the enter key to get into this email message and respond to this
problem.

I will be writing a note to the Freedom Scientific technical support team
and hope they may be able to help out.

Subject: RE: Problem with New JAWS v16.0.4463 and Outlook 2010

Thanks for everyone's continued help with this issue.

It is not a problem with the Outlook window being minimized. The behavior
is
the same whether the window is maximized or "restored".

I also played around with the "Customize Outlook Message List" JAWS
manager,
a very cool little tool that I hadn't heard of before, and again no luck.
Regardless of how I configured this, I still got the same incorrect
behavior.

But I finally figured out a workaround. In the "View" tab of the ribbon
UI,
I have to uncheck "Show as Conversation". Once I do that, everything reads
correctly. But if I have that checked, then nothing is read as I arrow
down
through my message list. This is not an ideal workaround, as I rather like
to have messages grouped by conversation, but at least I can access my
email
again.

I guess my next thing to try would be to completely uninstall JAWS
including
my own custom settings, then reinstall, and see if that resolves this
issue.
After all, no one else is encountering this problem, so it must be
something
specific to my system.

Thanks, all. I consider this closed, and J Bron can go ahead and hijack
this
thread now if he wants to. <grin>
-Paul

-----Original Message-----
Paul,

This behavior reminds me of the times I've somehow minimalized Outlook
2010. If this is the problem, the solution is to focus on the Outlook
window,
press alt-space, then x for maximize.

For what it's worth, even though the problem arose after installation
of a JAWS update and this action apparently caused the change, it
doesn't sound like a JAWS issue.

Jaws and spell checker with Outlook 2010

Jim L

Heya folks,

No matter what new version of Jaws comes out itsa 50/50 thing whenever I use
Outlook 2010 2010 spell checker I can get a Jaws lag when jumping just past
the dictionary languages and its a real talent getting thru this when Jaws
speech freezes for a few seconds until one finally hears ignore once, ignore
all etc. Is there a work around to stop this happening? Am up to date with
Jaws 16, have reinstalled, repaired etc, this doesn't fix this issue which
has been going since Jaws 14. Alternatively is there another spell checker I
can use with Outlook 2010?

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jim

The big thing is that after the install is done, you must run narrator

nothing happens, the install is stil busy, and if it starts up, its

Hello,

before you try to upgrade to Windows 10, FS recommends that you first
run their program to remove all earlier components before the current
JAWS 16.

First update your JAWS 16 and then download and run:
fsPrepareWin10_enu.exe

You will then have the most recent JAWS 16 running which gives you
control while upgrading to Windows 10.

I used the MS creation tool. While download (50 minutes) I used JAWS to
give me the progress percentage.

Once the computer restarts, there is no JAWS. It would be easier for
sighted assistance to watch what is happening. After the installis
complete, the computer will reboot a few times.

This took me another 50 minutes.
Then you can turn on the narrator. For me it was the hot key ctrl plus
ENTER.

Somewhere before the first reboot, you canchoose the:
keep all personal files and programs.

Once you have Windows 10 coming up with JAWS 16, you can then install
the JAWS 17 beta. Warning, with the first JAWS 17 beta, the
authorization key was removed. JAWS 16 and 17 beta came up in demo mode.

There is now a second JAWS 17 beta and I don't know if this problem has
been fixed.

Hello Paul,

I forgot to tell you about the final setup options.

These deal with many privacy items, and all are set on.

I chose to leave them at the default tomake it easier to complete the upgrade.

You can then change these settings After installing JAWS 17 beta and take time to familiarize yourself with Windows 10.

Make setting changes. from Windows 10 with the Windows-key plus i to bring up the setup dialogue window. Then tab once to the search box and type default. Do not pressENTER.

Tab once to the list and arrow down to choose the privacy item you want.

Hello there,

Has anyone used a program called SoundCloud with JAWS, and if so, how easy
is it to use? I'm needing to start using it and am just beginning to see
how it works. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Problem with New JAWS v16.0.4463 and Outlook 2010

Larry Marcotte

Regrettably, I have similar problems. I had to go back and install the
previous JAWS version to be able to review this email thread and be allowed
to use the enter key to get into this email message and respond to this
problem.

I will be writing a note to the Freedom Scientific technical support team
and hope they may be able to help out.

Larry Marcotte correctly pronounced as Larry Marcaught

Thanks for everyone's continued help with this issue.

It is not a problem with the Outlook window being minimized. The behavior is
the same whether the window is maximized or "restored".

I also played around with the "Customize Outlook Message List" JAWS manager,
a very cool little tool that I hadn't heard of before, and again no luck.
Regardless of how I configured this, I still got the same incorrect
behavior.

But I finally figured out a workaround. In the "View" tab of the ribbon UI,
I have to uncheck "Show as Conversation". Once I do that, everything reads
correctly. But if I have that checked, then nothing is read as I arrow down
through my message list. This is not an ideal workaround, as I rather like
to have messages grouped by conversation, but at least I can access my email
again.

I guess my next thing to try would be to completely uninstall JAWS including
my own custom settings, then reinstall, and see if that resolves this issue.
After all, no one else is encountering this problem, so it must be something
specific to my system.

Thanks, all. I consider this closed, and J Bron can go ahead and hijack this
thread now if he wants to. <grin>

Thanks for the reply adison , really handy to have an idea of how long it
took, as that will help when I'm upgrading to have an idea of when I might
be able to turn on narrator.

Hello,

before you try to upgrade to Windows 10, FS recommends that you first run
their program to remove all earlier components before the current JAWS 16.

First update your JAWS 16 and then download and run:
fsPrepareWin10_enu.exe

You will then have the most recent JAWS 16 running which gives you control
while upgrading to Windows 10.

I used the MS creation tool. While download (50 minutes) I used JAWS to give
me the progress percentage.

Once the computer restarts, there is no JAWS. It would be easier for sighted
assistance to watch what is happening. After the installis complete, the
computer will reboot a few times.

This took me another 50 minutes.
Then you can turn on the narrator. For me it was the hot key ctrl plus
ENTER.

Somewhere before the first reboot, you canchoose the:
keep all personal files and programs.

Once you have Windows 10 coming up with JAWS 16, you can then install the
JAWS 17 beta. Warning, with the first JAWS 17 beta, the authorization key
was removed. JAWS 16 and 17 beta came up in demo mode.

There is now a second JAWS 17 beta and I don't know if this problem has been
fixed.

I think I'm going to upgrade my laptop to windows 10. I've seen the

upgrade.
Does anyone know if I start narrator will that work throughout the
upgrade process or will there be a point where narrator stops working

I've also seen a couple of emails on the list about advisable
