now it starts on the logon screen, but still not after Windows starts.

Speech History Explained

Mike B <mb69mach1@...>

Hi All,

This feature can come in very handy when wanting to copy something Jaws
read, like a balloon notification, that came up briefly but, you missed it.

Speech History

By default, JAWS retains a list of the last 50 announcements that were
spoken by the speech synthesizer. For users of refreshable braille displays,
JAWS has always provided a mode where you could review this spoken
information in braille. When this mode is active, you can use the controls
on the braille display to review the last 50 announcements that have been
spoken by JAWS.

Speech History extends this functionality to users who rely on using speech
more than braille. If you miss one or more messages spoken by JAWS, you can
press INSERT+SPACEBAR, followed by H to open a Results Viewer window
containing up to the last 50 announcements spoken by the synthesizer. When
the Speech History window opens, you are placed on the line containing the
most recent announcement.

To clear the history, press INSERT+SPACEBAR, followed by SHIFT+H. The
history is also cleared when you lock the computer or completely log off.

If you do not want JAWS to keep a history of what is spoken, do the
following:

1.. Press INSERT+F2, and select Settings Center.
2.. Press CTRL+SHIFT+D to load the default JAWS settings.
3.. In the Search edit box, type "speech history" without the quotes.
4.. Press DOWN ARROW to move to Enable Speech History in the filtered
search results in the tree view.
5.. Press SPACEBAR to clear this check box.

Take care.

Re: Appending to the clipboard.

Ann Byrne

The keystroke is insert-space, then c. To find out, I did insert-space, then j; then typed the word clipboard. Insert-space, then j in JAWS 16 gives a place to query for the JAWS command you want. When you find it in the search results, just press enter and it happens.

Way cool! At 03:15 PM 10/19/2015, you wrote:

Found the answer! How to edit or delete contacts in Windows Live Mail?

Tim Ford

I contacted Microsoft’s access office. They remoted in, and she showed me. The trick I found out was to not go through the contacts button that comes up when addressing an email, but instead use control and the 3 key (not F3) to open the place where you can get to the contacts tab.

The sequence from there is a bit complicated, so I will just leave things there!

Re: Appending to the clipboard.

Mike B <mb69mach1@...>

Hi Adrian & Mario,

I got this from the Jaws help files, the append text to clipboard keystroke
has changed in later versions of Jaws to, Insert / Jaws Key, Windows Key, +
C:

Using FSClipboard
FSClipboard extends the functionality of the Windows Clipboard. When you use
the Windows Copy (CTRL+C) or Cut (CTRL+X) commands to place text on the
Clipboard, it replaces any text already there. When using the FSClipboard
feature, text that you copy is added to any text that you have previously
copied to the Clipboard. This allows you to continue adding text to the
Clipboard until you are ready to paste it into a document. You can only copy
text with the FSClipboard feature.

To add text to the Clipboard, select it using the text selection commands,
and then press WINDOWS Key+C. The text is appended to the end of any text
already on the Clipboard. To paste all the text that you have placed on the
Clipboard so far, use the Windows Paste command (CTRL+V). The text is
inserted into your document at the current location of the cursor. Each
block of text that you copied is separated by a blank line.

Note: If you attempt to add the same selection of text to the Clipboard more
than once, the text is not added. This feature is intended to reduce
unintentional duplication.

All formatting is removed from text that you copy using the FSClipboard
feature. This can be useful in programs like Microsoft Word if you do not
want to include styles, numbering, and other formatting information when you
paste text into a document.

If you want to replace all of the text on the Clipboard with a new text
selection, use CTRL+C or CTRL+X instead of WINDOWS Key+C. JAWS asks if you
want to overwrite your previously saved items. Choose Yes to replace all the
text on the Clipboard with the new selection.

Take care.

In Windows Live Mail, press Control-3 to get to the Contacts list, and tab once to your list of contacts. Scroll down the list until you land on the contact you want to edit or delete, and then press the context key or Shift-F10 for options to edit or delete the selected contact.

Hi Paul
To my surprise, JAWS 16.0.4463 is now working as if was before the update.
I really don't know what might have caused JAWS to work successfully after I

Maybe the previous installs were corruptedd or maybe I simply overlooked

Hi Larry. Thanks for your suggestions, but no luck on my end. I'm on a
Windows 7 64bit system, not Windows 10, so I'm not sure what other things
our computers have in common besides Office 2010.

I don't care to use the JAWS virtual riggon UI in Outlook because, in my
experience, it behaves unpredictably sometimes, so I keep that turned off.
But, regardless of whether I have it off or on, I still have the issue with
reading my message list.

My plan is to see if FS email support comes through for me, which means I'll
do nothing with this for the next few days. Then, as a plan B, I'll try the
JAWS v17 beta. I have two upgrades available in my SMA, so hopefully this
issue does not find its way into a future JAWS release.

Let's keep each other (and the list) updated as we find out more about this.

-----Original Message-----

Hi Paul

I regret I am not having much success with the latest JAWS16 version:
J16.0.4463enu-x64.exe

However, I am having better success with the prior JAWS16 version:
J16.0.4350enu-x64.exe
and the latest new JAWS17 beta test version:
J17.0.806enu-x64.exe

I am testing JAWS and Outlook 2010 on a Windows 10 Dell desktop PC and
a Windows 10 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 PC.

The results vary depending on some of the JAWS and Outlook 2010 settings.
In case you have not yet had the occasion, maybe try experimenting
with the settings.

1. Sometimes, but rarely, checking and unchecking the:
"quick setting Outlook 2010 dialog" (InsertV) then down arrow to:
"Virtual ribbon menu"
will result with JAWS announcing what I need spoken out:
the subject title header information along with the 3 preview Outlook
information lines below each email entry.

2. This is important.
For some unknown reason so far, I speculate, maybe JAWS is more
synchronized with the Outlook Screen, when I use the keystrokes:

- pressing the Alt key to land on the virtual ribbon home tab
- then the left arrow to the file tab
- then the right arrow to return to the home tab
- the escape key to return from the virtual ribbon

3. I make sure the virtual ribbon is maximized although it does not
seem
to
matter so far.

- Alt key to the virtual ribbon home tab
- right arrow until landing on"
"minimize the ribbon button"
- then make sure the ribbon is unchecked

Paul, unfortunately, if you are unable to get a upgrade of JAWS, the
success
I am experiencing so far is directly connected to either a prior or
next upcoming version of JAWS.
If you like, try changing these settings and see if you can get your
system
running more smoothly.
Otherwise, you might want to try out the latest beta test version of
JAWS
.
I believe although I stand being corrected, you can install the beta
version
of Jaws 17 using the current JAWS 16 SMA license.
If you find JAWS 17 is more satisfactory, and you can afford it, you
might consider plunging into the latest JAWS 17 version.
In this case, it is possible to alternate using two JAWS version
between JAWS 16 and JAWS 17 whenever you need to use different features of
JAWS.
Good luck, Larry

I have tried and failed to figure out how to delete or edit the name of my email address contacts in Windows Live Mail. Does anyone know how to do that? I am running JAWS 16.

Sincerely,
Tim Ford

Okay, I'm out of the loop. What so hot about 16? Are there any incentives for satisfied '13 users to upgrade?

Hi all,

How does Jaws 16 or 17 work in Office 2016? I have Office 2013 and am
thinking of upgrading to 2016, but thought I should check with you
all
before taking the plunge. I am running Windows 10 on a fairly new
Yoga 2

Thanks,

Re: Jaws and Office pro 2013

Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)

I have used 2013 on my home machine for a while now. I'm no longer the heavy home user I once was, but I like it. The PDF conversion capability, especially when combined with the new OCR feature in JAWES, makes it worth the price of admission. As a state employee, I got my copy at a fire-sale price, but it would have been worth considerably more.

Heya folks,

Am thinking of updating to Microsoft Office Pro 2013 from my current 2010, does Jaws work well with 2013 and does the spell checker lag issue still a problem with 2013 or is that ok there?

Cheers,

Jim

Hi,
If you're referring to the information that is red as you navigate the list
box of your mail folders, jaws 16 does read all of this information. You
may have a corrupt version, you may need to install or repair jaws.

So I am suspecting there are no supported scripts for office 2016 with
