While in Outlook: Hit alt-F4
This will close Outlook.

Then hit the Windows key and type Outlook and hit enter.
This will restart Outlook.

Worst case is to close Outlook and any other application. Then hit the
Windows key and arrow to shut down and hit enter. Computer will shut

Wait a minute or two and hit the power button to boot up your computer.

After computer is booted and stable, hit the windows key, type Outlook

This is what I do on my Win7 Ofice2010 system.

Subject: Just switched to WORD 2013, any more hot keys suggestions?

Hello,

I just switched from WORD 2003 to 2013. The menu bar has been changed to
a ribbon menu for some years now. These ribbons are proving to be an
initial hurdle. I'm tabbing and arrowing in a fruitless search for what
I want.

When the ribbons first came out, Ihad heard that you could use some of
the old Menu Bar hot keys, but that isn't exactly true.

Alt+F doesn't bring up the old File menu.

Some of you provided the hot keys for changing the font.

How do I do a "save as"? That was in the File menu.
If I do a "alt+f a" I get a save as tab. There is no edit field.

How do I open a file? The ctrl+o gives me the open tab and recently
opened documents.
There is no edit field to type in the drive, path file-name that I used
to do.

I got started by using the tree to select an existing WORD document
It was opened by WORD. I could then open it as a recent document.

I just found the JAWS training, as DAISY books. These can be downloaded
so I downloaded the VirtualRibbonMenus.exe. It is an executable file.
How do I get it into a DAISY book format to transfer to my DAISY player?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Potentially a bug with JAWS 17 on Word 2013 with Windows 10

Of course, JAWS can be configured so that the insert key in the 6 pack
functions differently from the insert key on the numpad. However, you would
have to make that change in your JAWS settings. The default is that they
function the same way.

Hi Carolyn,

It's not the Delete Key that works as the Jaws Key, it's the Insert Key in
both the 6 pack & the numpad.
Take care.

Adrian, I am amazed. Both Control-Shift-F, as well as Control-D worked
for me in a clean word document, and then I have used Alt-O-F, and that
works too. I also tried it with the Shift-F-10, which works. As my
husband has said there are usually at least two ways to do anything on a
computer. I likd Control-D, but thought that was Delete.

Incidentally, just to see if it would work, the Delete Key on my Six Pack
works as the JAWS Key, the same as the Delete Key on the Num Pad.

Bye for now,

Hi, Feliciano.

I understand your point about your clients' preference, but for me, the
simplest way of getting to the font dialog is with control-shift-f or
control-d. Both shortcuts do the same thing in a single keystroke-I have
no idea why the duplication. Maybe your clients would like being spared
some arrowing around!

I can work around it, but my clients like to go about it with the

Does not "JAWSKey+f" tell you that information as well? It does in Word
2013 when using the latest JAWS 16 version with Windows 8.1. Of course,
either Windows 10, or JAWS 17 may have changed that feature.

Check your PST file size. When it starts to get really big, then Outlook
can start acting all buggy. Probably not it, but it's always good to be

Redo the setting to have jaws come on at the log-on screen.
All your other settings will be remembered by Jaws.
For whatever reason if the media tool fails the first time.
Check for updates, restart, and run the tool again.
In w-8.1, this method usually works the first time.
In w-7, you may have to repeat this method two times.
It is a little more difficult going from w-7, to w-10, then from w-8.1 to
w-10.
There are more drivers which much be updated by Microsoft for your w-7
computer to upgrade to w-10.
You need no sighted assistance at all.

I've not gotten such a message.

But how do you do that?
I've got no windows 10 Product key, so how can I install that way if I want

Say for example, that my computer carshes. I need to buy a new harddrive

If you have a copy of 15 you haven't gotten around to uninstalling, will this FS cleanup tool do the job? I don't plan to fool with 10 for the foreseeable future, I just want rid of 15. I can always do it the regular way, but thought this might be easier.

While in Outlook: Hit alt-F4
This will close Outlook.

Then hit the Windows key and type Outlook and hit enter.
This will restart Outlook.

Worst case is to close Outlook and any other application. Then hit the
Windows key and arrow to shut down and hit enter. Computer will shut down.
Wait a minute or two and hit the power button to boot up your computer.

After computer is booted and stable, hit the windows key, type Outlook and
hit enter.

This is what I do on my Win7 Ofice2010 system.
