I totally agree with you. I use it as my default brouzer for more than
a week now, and so far know problems. When downloading files its a
little different from explorer but stil very manageable. And the best
brouzer to log into banking websites. The android version is also
super. The only thing I'm very sad about is that supernova don't
support it well yet it seems.

Subject: Google Chrome is totally accessible

Hi all.
I have been experimenting with Google Chrome Browser, and I have found
that
it is very accessible and easy to use. More than that, I can open the
same
web site in half the time as with IE or Firefox. It never crashes, and it
is
more stable than any other browser. It is the best browser when it comes
to
streaming videos and other media by far. The video never pauses for
example.
In IE, the same video pauses a few times for a few seconds. Also, Google
Chrome is the easiest browser to use. Yes, I am not kidding. Simply press
enter on the browser, and the home page opens. I have mine set to Google
of
course. Now, just press alt and the screen reader will say chrome button.
If
you press down arrow, every setting and menu you will ever need is in
that
one vertical column. The history, delete history, book marks, are all in
that one vertical menu just by pressing the alt key on the home page. All
navigation JAWS short cut keys work in Google Chrome. I have not found
anything yet that is not accessible. Also, every JAWS key command works
in
Chrome just like in IE. You can just press alt + D for the address bar
for
example. I will continue to play around with Google Chrome a little more,
and I will be ready to do an Audio tutorial for you guys. You will not
believe just how much better Google Chrome is over any other browser. You
will hear it with your own ears when I send you the tutorial probably by
Friday. I know some of you will use Chrome as your default browser. God
bless and have a great night. Talk to all of you soon.

another thing i have just noticed and its in jaws 16 and 17, the jaws curcer does not work. don't know if there is a fix for this or not.

Re: murge utility

I used to use the merge utility back in the day when it was first
introduced, but for a long while now, I've gotten into the habit of setting
up each new big release of Jaws independantly of each other. The start up
wizzard does help and it takes maybe five minutes if that to go through the
settings center and getting everything going and configured. I just run into
the same yearly issue of not remembering where to copy over dictionary and
other Jaws files from one JFW version to the other. Mainly because I have to
do it just once a year, but eventually I get it done.
I've found it to be a cleaner way of running my Jaws and this way too, I can
avoid any issues that may be present in an older version of JFW and more or
less start fresh.
That said, I can understand how some folks may be put out with the extra
work and lack of convenience with the merge utility no longer available.

With all the new changes and settings and how they interact make it more
like trying to replace apples with oranges, oranges just don't work any more
and there is no reason to bring them forward. So for this version you need
to reconfigure. I am sure there will be a merge facility for moving from 17
to 18 because they will be more in sync.

I'm very upset for fs removing the murg utility option in jaws 17.
They have the excuse that older version settings can know longer being

I totally agree. Thanks for those who support me. I think for most of us its about time to move and talk with our wallits. I'm strongly considering to move over to supernova. They don't upgrade every year for the sake of meeting a stupid skedual, and therefore its cheaper to upgrade whenever it arrives. Only thing is they stil need to support some apps better before I can really make that switch.

Hi All,

There's no need to craft a petition or anything else. Below tells
about the Merge Utility & why it's missing in Jaws 17, for now
anyways. This comes from What's new in Jaws 17.

Merge Utility No Longer Available

Major changes have been made to improve the JAWS localization process.
This
included reorganizing many of the JAWS settings files. Due to these
changes, the Merge utility is no longer installed with JAWS 17 as
settings from prior versions cannot be merged. We are planning a
solution for the future which will replace this utility and provide an
even greater benefit for our customers.

Take care.

I don't know how appropriate or beneficial this could be, but if
someone on the list would be willing to craft a petition regarding
this issue, we might be able to get enough signitures to make an
impact.

Sometimes, I just scratch my head at these kinds of decisions.

I certainly will sign any such petition, if it is created.

I'm looking to upgrade to Jaws 17, possibly during the college
teaching semester break, but that won't be for about 8 weeks for me at
this point, and I sure would like to have the use of the merge
utilities feature again.
I know there have been issues with it at times, but the convenience
and ease of using it far outweighs any problems, in my opinion.

Hi all.
I have been experimenting with Google Chrome Browser, and I have found that it is very accessible and easy to use. More than that, I can open the same web site in half the time as with IE or Firefox. It never crashes, and it is more stable than any other browser. It is the best browser when it comes to streaming videos and other media by far. The video never pauses for example. In IE, the same video pauses a few times for a few seconds. Also, Google Chrome is the easiest browser to use. Yes, I am not kidding. Simply press enter on the browser, and the home page opens. I have mine set to Google of course. Now, just press alt and the screen reader will say chrome button. If you press down arrow, every setting and menu you will ever need is in that one vertical column. The history, delete history, book marks, are all in that one vertical menu just by pressing the alt key on the home page. All navigation JAWS short cut keys work in Google Chrome. I have not found anything yet that is not accessible. Also, every JAWS key command works in Chrome just like in IE. You can just press alt + D for the address bar for example. I will continue to play around with Google Chrome a little more, and I will be ready to do an Audio tutorial for you guys. You will not believe just how much better Google Chrome is over any other browser. You will hear it with your own ears when I send you the tutorial probably by Friday. I know some of you will use Chrome as your default browser. God bless and have a great night. Talk to all of you soon.

With all the new changes and settings and how they interact make it more like trying to replace apples with oranges, oranges just don't work any more and there is no reason to bring them forward. So for this version you need to reconfigure. I am sure there will be a merge facility for moving from 17 to 18 because they will be more in sync.

Hello.

I'm very upset for fs removing the murg utility option in jaws 17.
They have the excuse that older version settings can know longer being important in 17. I don't know if I must laugh. If they new that it would happen, why did they not make a priority to implement a replacement tool wich could be in 17?
Now you have to manually change everything? Is it possible perhaps to use the settings packager to acomplish that?

I mean, talk about blowing smoke, that is . . . definitely.
That should always be a property of the new update, to make sure your
personalized settings are integrated, and just because something new is
so different, that only means that the developer must take care of the
customer base so that the differences can be handled by customized
settings which can be applied to the newer version. Talk about a crock of
double talk, "working on it," when if the plan had been to not include a
merge utility, that should have been in the stage of development from the
get go, not "we're working on it," now.
If a setting is so new, then double duh! some kind of utility to upgrade
and update settings should be employed, not thrown into the discard.
Thinking with their lack of ideas, it seems to me. How about that,
"thinking with their lack of ideas."
That's like saying, when the guy snores next to you as you whack him him
to wake him up, "hey! hey!" "Wake up and go to sleep."
duh! and double duh! Pure and simple, someone just . . . screwed up, and
there is no denial that can make up for that.

Hi All,

There's no need to craft a petition or anything else. Below tells
about the Merge Utility & why it's missing in Jaws 17, for now anyways.
This comes from What's new in Jaws 17.

Merge Utility No Longer Available

Major changes have been made to improve the JAWS localization process.
This included reorganizing many of the JAWS settings files. Due to
these changes, the Merge utility is no longer installed with JAWS 17 as
settings from prior versions cannot be merged. We are planning a
solution for the future which will replace this utility and provide an
even greater benefit for our customers.

Take care.

issue, we might be able to get enough signitures to make an impact.

Sometimes, I just scratch my head at these kinds of decisions.

I certainly will sign any such petition, if it is created.

I'm looking to upgrade to Jaws 17, possibly during the college teaching
semester break, but that won't be for about 8 weeks for me at this
point, and I sure would like to have the use of the merge utilities
feature again.
I know there have been issues with it at times, but the convenience and
ease of using it far outweighs any problems, in my opinion.

Hello,

In WORD 2013, the use of ctrl+z to togglequick keys is handy.

But the alt+l does not bring up a list of misspelled words.

The "m" for the next misspelled word does work and I will find this

Thanks.

Subject: Google Chrome is totally accessible

Hi all.
I have been experimenting with Google Chrome Browser, and I have found that
it is very accessible and easy to use. More than that, I can open the same
web site in half the time as with IE or Firefox. It never crashes, and it
is
more stable than any other browser. It is the best browser when it comes to
streaming videos and other media by far. The video never pauses for
example.
In IE, the same video pauses a few times for a few seconds. Also, Google
Chrome is the easiest browser to use. Yes, I am not kidding. Simply press
enter on the browser, and the home page opens. I have mine set to Google of
course. Now, just press alt and the screen reader will say chrome button.
If
you press down arrow, every setting and menu you will ever need is in that
one vertical column. The history, delete history, book marks, are all in
that one vertical menu just by pressing the alt key on the home page. All
navigation JAWS short cut keys work in Google Chrome. I have not found
anything yet that is not accessible. Also, every JAWS key command works in
Chrome just like in IE. You can just press alt + D for the address bar for

Hi All,

There's no need to craft a petition or anything else. Below tells
about the
Merge Utility & why it's missing in Jaws 17, for now anyways. This comes
from What's new in Jaws 17.

Merge Utility No Longer Available

Major changes have been made to improve the JAWS localization process.
This
included reorganizing many of the JAWS settings files. Due to these
changes,
the Merge utility is no longer installed with JAWS 17 as settings from
prior
versions cannot be merged. We are planning a solution for the future
which
will replace this utility and provide an even greater benefit for our
customers.

Take care.

I don't know how appropriate or beneficial this could be, but if
someone on
the list would be willing to craft a petition regarding this issue, we
might
be able to get enough signitures to make an impact.

Sometimes, I just scratch my head at these kinds of decisions.

I certainly will sign any such petition, if it is created.

I'm looking to upgrade to Jaws 17, possibly during the college teaching
semester break, but that won't be for about 8 weeks for me at this point,
and I sure would like to have the use of the merge utilities feature
again.
I know there have been issues with it at times, but the convenience
and ease
of using it far outweighs any problems, in my opinion.

That is what we all would like to know. And normally, they won't make

Hi,

I upgraded to Office 2016 yesterday. Outlook works only occasionally. Most
of the time when you open a message, you can't read the message. JAWS just
says, "blank". 2016 had to be uninstalled and office 2013 reinstalled. Word
in 2016 seemed to work all right. They have not improved the spell checker
though. Just like 2013. No alt-key to use.
