I got a USB enabled ZoomText keyboard for my laptop . The keys are much more well separated, larger than the laptop’s and the characters are bold, large andhighly contrasted with the black keys.

Well, I connect mine to the desktop via USB, but it’d be nice to use blue and not have to always be at the computer, you know. I could take it anywhere in my apartment except the bedroom. Anyway, I too will be getting an adaptor at some point I suppose.

Hello,

I am not sure about having a Bluetooth adapter for connecting the Focus 40 Braille display to the PC. However, if you have its USB cable, you can connect it to the USB port on your pc. I will attach a document which might help with some things—not finding the USB Bluetooth connector, though, I’m afraid. Yet, I hope this helps with other Focus problems you might have in the future

When trying to use git bash with jaws I can’t read the output. In other words I can go back and see the commands I enter but can’t see the output it returns. The only time I am able to read the output is when I use the git config –list command I can see my settings but for example if I try to generate an SSH key I can’t read anything. Has anyone else experienced this and if so do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

Have you check to see if your computer is already cabable of adding a blutooth device?

If you actually don't have blutooth available, try to find a blutooth adapter that doesn't require you to insert a disk to load drivers. Sometimes these driver disk are not accessible. You will also want to be sure the blutooth adapter is a recent version so check the blutooth version you are wanting to blutooth.

I had this exact same problem with a new laptop that I purchased 3 months ago. And the same problem to a lesser degree on two older laptops.

Silenzio fixed all of my problems on all 3 laptops.

I remember someone on one of these lists mentioning that they ran a small sound file with blank noise in the background in order to stop this funky behavior. I don't recall if they said that they used a special program for this or how they did it exactly, but I’m sure there are some folks on here who would also be aware of whatever type of program that can run such a task.
I don't use Bluetooth headphones on my laptop, so it wasn't something I paid all that much attention to at the time. See if something like that helps.

Yeah, that is a known issue. Prior to a recent Windows update, I would have recommended the aftershock headsets because they were working nicely for me, with almost zero latency. That is no longer the case -- they are now virtually unusable and all other headsets suffered from the same issues.

Of course it is accessible.  I'm blind, myself, and I am using it on two pc's.  One where the bluetooth headset tries to save power and one where the sound card does the same.

I did this morning.  They were not helpful.  We tried unchecking the Windows power option “fast start,” but that did not fix the problem.  They then said I should upgrade to JAWS 2020, and if that did not fix the problem to call the Microsoft disability hotline.

Hi Mike!

About your #2 below, I looked at that and indeed JAWS 2019 is checked.  It is the only screen reader I have installed.  About your #1 below, when I press control+shift+escape, I do get to task manager.  However, there seems not to be any “startup” tab.  Pressing control+tab does nothing since there is only the one main window without any other tabs.

I would appreciate any other suggestions!

Thanks,

Richard

2 things come to mind, read and check both to see if they're both on / checked:

#1:

Try pressing, control, shift + escape, to open the task manager.

Control + tab to the Startup tab and tab 1 time into a list of items.

Down arrow to Application file for Jaws and tab 3 times to see its status.  If it says, Enable, this means that Jaws is not turned on to start with the computer.  So, press the spacebar so Jaws reports, Disable, to turn it on.  No, I'm not talking backwards, this is the way it works.  Now Alt + F4 to close and reboot the computer to see if it works.

#2:

1. Open the control panel, navigate to the Ease of Access Center link and press enter.

2. Tab to, Use the computer without a display Link, and press enter.

3. Now tab several times to find all of your installed screenreaders and make sure the version of Jaws you want to run at startup is checked.

Take care.  Mike.  Sennt from my iBarstool.
