He says it is only a problem with Jaws which would seem to eliminate this as a cause I would assume.

Hi,
@Adrian, pleased the force removal shortcut might come in handy. Like I said I think it’s a great product which works well with screen readers. I like that at the end of uninstalling a program it lets you know if it detected any leftover program traces, then gives you the option to delete them. honestly I’ve been amazed by just how many unnecessary program traces are left behind when you do a standard windows uninstall. Thanks for changing the subject line, sorry I should have done that in my last post. @marty, I got my copy of geek uninstaller directly from their website which is: https://geekuninstaller.com/

Hi Adrian,
Sorry for the late reply, pleased the recommendation of Geek uninstaller was helpful. The program itself is a really small portable program, as such it doesn’t actually install anything on your machine, you can just run it whenever you want by just launching the exe file. this is handy, since I have a copy of geek on a memory stick/USB drive so can run Geek directly from that on any machine just from the USB drive. You mentioned one program you tried to delete that it only gave you the option to upgrade that program, rather than delete it. I’ve not had that happen before, but if you ever get that again Geek uninstaller has a force removal option too. you can access this with the shortcut key ‘shift and delete’, I actually haven’t used this function before as haven’t needed it, but I think could come in handy for those types of programs that have been created in a way to make removal difficult.

Hi,
I hope this isn’t straying off topic, but Brian recommended uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller. I agree with him , whenever I uninstall anything from my PC I always use a third party uninstaller to ensure it removes all traces of the program as the windows installer often leaves behind a lot of unneeded files. I personally use Geek uninstaller (which is free). I’ve used Revo Uninstaller in the past, and although it was accessible I found it wasn’t the easiest to navigate with a screen reader, which is why I use geek, it works well with jaws and is really simple to use, when it opens you are in an edit field where you can type the name of the program you want to uninstall or press escape for a full list of programs currently installed on your machine. I do have to confess though I haven’t used Revo Uninstaller for a long time, so it’s possible they might have improved accessibility since I last used it.

If this is really a problem which occurs only with Jaws and not other screenreader then we can presumably eliminate the possibility of you turning on sticky keys by mistake. I would first of all try a Jaws repair by going to add Remove programs and then hitting the uninstall options which include from memory an option to repair. Alternatively run the Jaws installation file again. If the problem persists even after a repair I think you need to run Jaws in default mode. There is a command for this which somebody else may have to help with as I am on my Mac as my Windows machine has gone off for repair but it is something like go to the run menu with windows R andusing Narrator type Jaws /default As I say somebody else may have to correct my syntax. If the problem persists even with Jaws in default mode I think it is a call to FS Support..
Finally to eliminate it as a hardware issue plug in an alternative keyboard to see if the problem persist. If the problem disappears it is a problem with your Windows hardware/OS configuration. David G.

I've never had this happen with the Google Chrome browser, nor seen it reported elsewhere. If you've done a complete uninstall and reinstall, and that has not fixed the issue, the only thing I could recommend is using something like Revo Uninstaller, after having done the regular uninstall for Chrome, then trying to install again. GoogleChrome crashing with JAWS
Ayers, David (ITCS)
Hello,
For work, I use a financial package, called Munis, that runs with Google Chrome. Up until last Thursday, 8/27/2020, everything was working ok. I am using JAWS version 2020.2008.24 and Windows 10 Professional 1909.
Now, when I go into any of the modules and press the JAWS cursor key (numpad minus), Google Chrome crashes. After a couple minutes, or after pressing the esc key, I get the message that Google Chrome is not responding. I have deleted the cache and deleted and reinstalled Chrome with no difference. I had a sight assistance try to run the modules without JAWS running and it ran fine. Loading JAWS after the modules were open, results in the same crash. I tried using MS Edge Chromium and it worked for about a day then it also started to crash att he same point as Chrome. Unfortunately, JAWS is the only screen reader that will work with these modules. I have tried NVDA and Narrator, but they don’t give any speech output with these screens.
I am also reaching out to the software vendor to see if they have any ideas.
Thanks,

Capslock key stuck when turning the keyboard to laptop layout
Michael Munn
Hi all, hope you are doing good during the laststage of Summer. I'm sending this email just want to ask a question.
Recently I have been experiencing this issue from my laptop. Every time when I turn the capslock on using Jaws and the keyboard layout is laptop layout it also activated several other modifier keys like Ault and CTRL. This is ticking me off and I'm about to have at it. Is The issue only occured when I have Jaws enabled. and the keyboard is laptop layout and when I turn on the capslock key and other modifier keys turned on at the same time. When I turn the capslock on, I only pressed the Capslock key I hope y'all can help me with this regard. Excellent!!!!
I just tried it and it is great… I work in computer security and end up trolling through server logs etc and when looking at transactions and wanting to jump to the next IP address and their transactions I was using the old down arrow approach and it drove me insane.
This little trick is exactly what I was looking for when I sent my email this morning.
Just to let you all know the control spacebar for selecting the column also works with the control shift backslash item.
Thanks again and have a good evening. Just about done for the day here.

Chris was close. He wrote backspace, but he should have written back-slash. I just did it for the first time and got it working with both a column of numbers and with a column of two-letter state abbreviations. to summarize, 1, hit control shift down arrow.; this selects all the contents of the column from where you are to the next blank cell in the column. 2. Now hit Control Shift backslash Excel move focus to the next different value. Note that the cells below this are still selected.
Really cool trick, Chris. Thank you for sharing I’m sure I will find this valuable.

I have the keystroke that you are needing.
Ok, hold down the control and shift. Do not let go of theese 2 keys. Now while holding down these keys, hit down arrow, do not hold down the down arrow, just press it. wait a second, then hit the backspace key. The backspace key is normally above the enter key.
Each time you press the backspace key, it will jump to the next different value in the column.
I have tested this and it does work.

Not sure why. As a test, I took a blank worksheefft, put the same number in about 5 cells down, put a different number in the next 5 cells, and so on for about 20 or 30 cells. I did not change any of the cell formats or anything. Now you do have to be in your list of numbers. But it worked for me multiple times. I even made a new list with only 2 of each number to see if that made a difference, and it still worked. I am running Excel 2016. Chris
