Yeah I know I’ve been asking a lot about Outlook, but last question of the day. 😊 Where do I disable the focus inbox? I really don’t want to be switching between focused and other all the time.

That’s what I have been doing, but I have just been wondering if JAWS could work with Spotify.  What annoys me about listening to podcasts using Spotify is that they always appear in descending, not ascending, order.  I have contacted this list and have asked if you could change that setting in Spotify using JAWS but nobody seems to know.  I’m going to contact Freedom Scientific again and suggest that they consider making Spotify compatible with JAWS.

It’s too bad Freedom Scientific is so ignorant of spotify. I haven’t messed with it so I can’t say how manageable it really is for a screen-reader user. I like podcasts nowadays, but I just go to their websites and download local copies of the episodes (not necessarily easily done with 8all* podcasts). If you use a desktop, you should be able to play episodes in your browser.

I have just recently become acquainted with Spotify.  I have submitted to your list questions about how to use Spotify with JAWS  and nobody is being of any help.  Today I tried contacting Freedom Scientific and they say that they don’t have anything to do with Spotify.  In fact, I don’t know if they have even heard of it.  So I’m trying to find out from anybody if there are any places where you can subscribe to podcasts which are compatible with JAWS and which you can use JAWS with, such as creating and adding to music playlists or, when you find a podcast if you want to hear episodes in ascending rather than in descending order.  If any of you know of any such programs that are compatible with JAWS will you please tell me what they are?  I do not use Apple.  I use a Desktop PC, use Windows 10 and use JAWS 2021.

Leasey has Leaseycast as a part of it’s program, but I don’t think the podcasts automatically download. You have to download them manually.

Thank you all.  The Control alt 1 method works well.  I think the thing that frustrated me about the Styles options is that it uses different fonts than I might want and the style options felt overwhelming because they are telling you all the fonts and formatting for each type of heading.  I tend to use Arial or Calibri fonts and even using the Control Alt 1 method changes the font for the heading to Cambria.  Even though this document is just for me, if I use headings in another document for work, I want to be aware of the font changes.  I did find that, after I do a heading, I can change the font back to my standard font and the heading marking still sticks.  I suppose I should take the time and tips from one of the listers to create my own style selection that uses my preferred fonts, but that is more than I want to bite of today when I’m simply trying to tag something for quick key navigation.

Press CTRL alt and whatever number you want. For example, 1 for heading 1 text and 2 for heading 2 text. You can press the above hotkey either before or after typing your text. Just know that after you type text you want in heading xxx, you have to of course select it before pressing above hotkey.

There are literally hundreds of background processes that run under Windows 10 or any operating system, for that matter.

It is impossible to say whether anything you have there "shouldn't be there" without a far more detailed analysis.

Madison, I also had this issue in the past.
On my machine, Microsoft smartscreen was causing the issue.
During my testing it was revealed that smartscreen using more than 80% of CPU, of course when cpu was suppose to be idle.
As cpu always on work, so be the fan to cool it down.
I didn't remember how, but I managed to remove this file from my machine, and problem went away!
You, first of all check the cpu usage by app by going into task manager (ctrl+shift+esc).
If this is your first time into task manager, than press tab a few times and press the spacebar on more details button.
After this press the 's' to move to the apps starting wiht s. And check whether smartscreen is there or not.
If there, check its cpu usage.
And if indeed it causing the problem, than google how to remove this file.
Hope it might help.

The issue being that there are way, way, way more actual burn errors
with optical media, which is my central point. I have had certain
machines where it was a 50/50 shot for any CD/DVD being burned whether

Neither way is right or wrong. I just prefer what's been, in my
experience, more reliable and where the media used can be reused a
virtually unlimited number of times and is way easier to carry around.
When you add the fact that many newer laptops don't even have an optical drive . . .

It should remove them all if the whole document is selected. However, rather than think of it as removing, think of it as changing the format.
Control+shift+n sets the "normal" format style, while control+1, 2, or 3, sets the heading style at those levels.

Hi, if by disabling headings you mean to reverse any change that you could have make to a header line, and going back to the normal style, the keystroke you're looking for is control plus shift plus n. At least, this is the combination that works for me in Word 2019, of course, you have to select the header line first.

Hi Barbara, when in the message list, hit Alt F and Jaws will say info, then tab and you’ll hear selected account then your email address. Down arrow until you hear add account.

Hi –

An additional (actually precursor) related question – how do I set up an additional account/email address in Outlook?

Thanks

Barbara

Hi I am using Jaws and can’t figure out how to switch between my mail accounts to check mail. Is there a command to do that?
