Junk Ware Removal Tool
Milton Ota <mota1252@...>
I posted this the other day but saw no response so I'm posing the question again in case someone might have missed it.
I'm wanting to know if there is any JunkWare removal tool that is accessible to remove junk ware from a brand new laptop computer? This is a Win 10 computer and not all the applications or links are able to be removed from the Programs and Features in the Control Pannel. Any suggestions especially for something that is free. Thanks.

Re: Safely Remove Hardware question

I finally got the safely remove option to work. I think my problem was that I was not hitting enter when on the notification chevron. I can now get to an option which says safely remove or eject. I assume that if I hit enter on this, I'll be given a choice of drives, and can hit enter and remove the one I no longer need. Am I correct in assuming that this option will work for either a USB thumb drive, or an external hard drive? Thanks to all for your patience as I've sorted all of this out. Turning Off Screen Echo when Deleting with DBT11.1

Hi, Everyone.
I'm using JFW13 and Duxbury 11.1. Where do I need to go to turn off the key echo feature re deleting text? i.e., how do I get JFW to stop echoing the characters being deleted when I hit the delete key in DBT11.1? I looked at the keyboard manager but didn't see anything that toggled the option. Ideas? Thanks, Dani

If that's the case, Tom, you might post again with that specific question. Several sets of instructions have been posted in the past on how to get JAWS to reveal it. Dave, I've heard much the same thing. But, ever nervous about corrupting files, I do the following: Close the window showing the drive of the SD card, etc., that I want to remove. (This is consistent with your closing all applications using that card, disc, etc.) Go to system tray with JAWS key+F11. Press s until "system tray" is verbalized. On my system (Win7, 64-bit), that's just one press. Press enter, then arrow down until the name of the item to be removed is spoken. Press enter again. Then JAWS verbalizes something like "Safe to remove" and I feel comfortable ejecting the item. -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-bounces@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Dave Carlson via Jfw Sent: Thursday, August 20, 2015 12:47 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. When I copy or paste to a USB Thumb drive, I just wait until I'm able to navigate through the list of files on that drive, and then I know I can pull it out. If you're using an external disc or hard drive, you might want to make sure that there are no programs running that are accessing the drive before disconnecting -- that might be the one and only time I'd consider using the feature. Use JAWS+F11 to get to the system tray, arrow to "safe to remove" item and press enter. I am sure this may seem pretty elementary to some, but I actually have gotten varying opinions on the need to use the "safely remove hardware" option for USB devices such as USB thumb drives, and USB external hard drives. So, I have two questions: 1. Is it still necessary to invoke the "safely remove hardware" option when using any of these USB devices? I have heard that in later operating systems like Windows 7, this is not as necessary as it used to be. And 2. How does one easily get to the "safely remove hardware" option, if it would be a good idea for me to use it? I am using Windows 7 and Jaws 16 here. Thank you! Re: How to Get an "Applications Key" on a Lenovo Laptop?

This depends on which Lenovo model you are using. You can

sometimes swap the insert key and the applications key. Since insert is the typical insert key, that may not be entirely desirable; however, with the laptop keyboard, the capslock key becomes the JAWS key. Depending upon personal preference, this may be a good way to get both a JAWS key, which you absolutely need, and an applications key, which is pretty handy. The insert key, when it is not the JAWS key, is pretty useless. Though, I would love to replace the print screen key with something useful. I don't think I've ever found a use for the print screen key.

The application menu is triggered where the keyboard is focused. You could of course route the jaws to PC cursor before doing the right click but that is even more cumbersome than shift+f10.
