That is what are use jaws remote desktop for. I log into remote systems at work.

One. You need to purchase the jaws remote desktop license for that function to work.
Two. Jaws needs to be installed on the remote computers.
Three. You will either use Microsoft RDP or Citrix VDI to access the remote computers from your work

Thanks,abraham

for the regular Tandem, it is insert+alt+tab key which:
Toggles between the JAWS Tandem Controller window and the controller’s
local computer.
Available only on the controler system, this keystroke suspends or
resumes a JAWS Tandem session in order to toggle between the target
system’s desktop and the controller system’s desktop.

if you're asking about the Remote Desktop built in to Windows, that's a different beast as opposed to JAWS Tandem. sorry I don't know but I assume that it would be a different keystroke.

Hi there. If I could drop in on this thread. Remote JAWS is different than using JAWS Tandem. First of all, you must purchase the remote license add-on from Freedom Scientific, which is a one time fee of $200.00. This allows JAWS to interact with the work desktop through what is called Remote Access.
Set up of this connection largely depends on how your work has this configured. Are you planning to work through RDP or do they use Citrix or something like that? That information would be good to know. I have seen JAWS work both ways, and it has been successful in both instances.
Good luck with this.

You need at least JAWS 2018 to use Firefox, now, since the advent of Firefox Quantum (version 57 and up). Some people may tell you to use Firefox 52 ESR, but that version is no longer the ESR and is no longer supported with security patches or anything, really. You should really keep your browsers updated moreso than other programmes, since they are always accessing things on the internet, running code etc.

Every modern browser includes a feature, at setup, to import bookmarks/favorites from another browser.  Firefox certainly does.

I haven't used a manual export from the old browser and import to the new in a very long time except when someone has been using different browsers for different sets of sites.  Even then, it was only on the browser(s) not chosen for automatic import of bookmarks where this is necessary.

the second one requires purchasing an additional license to support remote

Very quickly:

Install JAWS on both machines, preferably the same version and build.
By default, the remote access client and server should be enabled but the new version will warn you and give you the option to turn it on if required.
Load up on one machine with JAWS running.
Open the remote desktop connection utility in Windows Accessories.
You will need the computer name of the other machine that you wish to connect to here.
Enter the computer name and open the options, you will need the username and password of another account on the machine that you aare trying to connect to, assuming that it is on the same network and domain etc.
If it is not, you will need to look further in to IP addresses to connect and possibly, port forwarding on the router.

My apologies to all I did not mean to hit send with a blank body on my message.
In light of the news, and warnings to work from home. I need to make sure that I am prepared. I am working with windows 10 and jaws 2020. I have purchased the remote license but I’ve never used it. Can anyone give me instructions on how to connect my two units, and how to use jaws through the remote access?
Any assistance is really appreciate it. Thank you

I Tried turning on the filter and then alt+down arrow but it doesn’t seem to read anything when I tab around, nothing at all.

Shift+ctrl+l seems to be the shortfcut for the filter on and off toggle as well if that is any use to you?

I use filters a lot.

Go to a cell in your header row, then hit the Filter button on the Data ribbon to turn on filters for that entire row of headers.

When you want to filter a particular column, go do that column header and hit alt down arrow to expand the filter choices.

I’m usually filtering on txt in the cells.  The easiest way I find to do this is to Shift tab back three times till I hear Select all.  You’ll be passing over a cancel button and an OK button.

Then you arrow down the list of options, checking an unchecking the boxes you want to see or hide.  Annoyingly I cannot find a way to page down or use first letter navigation to quickly move through a long list.

If you know you want to see most of the rows, but hide just a few, leave the Select All option at the top check and arrow down to find the few options you want to filter out.

If you want to hide a majority of rows and only see certain items, then uncheck the Select All option at the top and move down to place a check in the text items you want.

Once you have that done, you just tab once to the OK  button and hit enter. .JAWS does not read this button clearly; it sounds something more like type the text you want OK.

Happy to talk more if you have specific questions as you try it.

Hi,
If you have exported your settings to a jaws settings file, you can eMail
the file to your work, or bring it on a thumb drive and import it into the
other Jaws.
Unless the Jaws at work is older than the Jaws you are currently using.

I use Ctrl + Shift + L to toggle filters on and off - although JAWS doesn't report the change.

Once I've pressed Alt + DownArrow on a filter, I press E to jump to the edit box, DownArrow once to Select All, then End to go to the last item in the list, which is usually blanks?

I'm using Excel 2016 and JAWS 2020.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes.  You’ll want to leave the Select All option checked and arrow down to the last in the list below it, which is “(blanks)” and uncheck that.  Wish there was a quicker way to get to it, but arrowing down is the only way I’ve found.

Thanks so much, that is fantastic!

What I have is a colum going down, I just want to filter that colum so the blank cells are filtered out and the column only lists the cells where the entry is not blank e.g. contains a number.

I Think that it is the alt+down arrow that I could have been missing.

Hi, doing a networking course from http://www.upskilled.edu.au. Now, need a education version of wmare workstation pro. Upskilled doesn’t have a subscription. And did e-mail education services on Monday, they said it would be 2 or 3 days, but been waiting 4 days. Wondering, and vmware doesn’t have a live chat option. So does any one know of a site, where I can get this for free, and want to be legal and have peace of mind. And also did contact vmware, trying to join their communities or register, they have an inaccessible cacture, and no audio option. And gave up, tried 5 or 6 times to type in the sample code, but no go. If this is not the right forum, then maybe point me to a user group, forum, or meetup group, where I can ask this question. Need it for my course, as hyper v manager, when I launch the vm, chrashes speech and there window is inaccessible. And also virtual box, which I tried, kept crhashing or powering off. Any help.

Marvin.

Ps: have tried googling and searching. And so, they said my message got sent and the aus site. Frustrated.

Is the question regarding tandem or the remote desktop option.

These are two different functions. The first one is included with bass
jaws,
the second one requires purchasing an additional license to support remote
