if it does print something, it will be at the least gibberish because it is not an image of text or is a document.

Hi -

JAWS requires a Remote Access license to allow it to be used in a remote access session - such as the windows Remote Desktop services.

You need the proper license installed on the client-side computer and software installed correctly on both the client and the “server/remote” computer.

To use remote access support, you must add remote authorization to an existing Professional or Home license of JAWS or Fusion. There is a one-time fee to add this Remote Access authorization option.

Here is a document from FS - https://support.freedomscientific.com/Content/Documents/Other/RemoteAccessAuthorizationInstructions.pdf

If cost is an issue, perhaps you could use NVDA remote and use it with speech off, while using Jaws.
There could be a few keystroke conflicts, but that could be fixed.

for the regular Tandem, it is insert+alt+tab key which:
Toggles between the JAWS Tandem Controller window and the controller’s local computer.
Available only on the controler system, this keystroke suspends or resumes a JAWS Tandem session in order to toggle between the target system’s desktop and the controller system’s desktop.

Once you have taken control of a computer, it is just like being on the other computer.
There is a keyboard shortcut to toggle back and forth with Jaws Tandem as well, but I don't recall what it is.

I didn’t think of that.
That part I think I know how to do. Import new settings for my back up. How do I use remote control? Do you know?

I use Ctrl + Shift + L to toggle filters on and off - although JAWS doesn't report the change.

Once I've pressed Alt + DownArrow on a filter, I press E to jump to the edit box, DownArrow once to Select All, then End to go to the last item in the list, which is usually blanks?

I'm using Excel 2016 and JAWS 2020.

Thanks,

Yes.  You’ll want to leave the Select All option checked and arrow down to the last in the list below it, which is “(blanks)” and uncheck that.  Wish there was a quicker way to get to it, but arrowing down is the only way I’ve found.

Thanks so much, that is fantastic!

What I have is a colum going down, I just want to filter that colum so the blank cells are filtered out and the column only lists the cells where the entry is not blank e.g. contains a number.

I Think that it is the alt+down arrow that I could have been missing.

I use filters a lot.

Go to a cell in your header row, then hit the Filter button on the Data ribbon to turn on filters for that entire row of headers.

When you want to filter a particular column, go do that column header and hit alt down arrow to expand the filter choices.

I’m usually filtering on txt in the cells.  The easiest way I find to do this is to Shift tab back three times till I hear Select all.  You’ll be passing over a cancel button and an OK button.

Then you arrow down the list of options, checking an unchecking the boxes you want to see or hide.  Annoyingly I cannot find a way to page down or use first letter navigation to quickly move through a long list.

If you know you want to see most of the rows, but hide just a few, leave the Select All option at the top check and arrow down to find the few options you want to filter out.

If you want to hide a majority of rows and only see certain items, then uncheck the Select All option at the top and move down to place a check in the text items you want.

Once you have that done, you just tab once to the OK  button and hit enter. .JAWS does not read this button clearly; it sounds something more like type the text you want OK.

Happy to talk more if you have specific questions as you try it.

I don't think Sherry knows that a DBF file stands for Data Base Format which holds tectual information. it isn't graphical nore is it a document, so JAWS's OCR won't work to read it.

They do run together, it was only long ago, like 15 years or so, when that
was not the case.
But NVDA has settings that can be used assuming a Braille display is being
used, just like with Jaws, you can turn the speech off.
I don't think the verbosity settings would affect the connectivity of NVDA.

Well, JAWS works well  the version of Firefox that came out about the same time as the version of JAWS. Don't expect JAWS 2018 to work with Firefox 70. There were major changes to Firefox in around version 57, and JAWS and NVDA  had to  completely change the way they worked with the browser when that occurred. So if you are unable to upgrade past JAWS 18 then I suggest you don't try working with modern Browsers. And if you don't work with modern browsers then you might find parts of the web unusable . Though there is a new version of Lynx that recently came out.

A synthesizer I wish still existed was the DoubleTalk.
Even now, it is still my favourite reading voice, and I could listen
to it for hours. I don't know if that's just me and nostalgia, but I
miss that voice, and I'd use it instead of anything modern if I could.

that it sounded terrible as it did not sound as clear as expected. there

I recall her name was Corine Bickley and the software was intended for

I had the DekTalk32 software, and I seem to remember that I just had
to email a place and they let me download it totally free.
The only problem is that I can't find the file that I downloaded to be
able to somehow send it to you, since I realized I didn't really like
the speech much, I didn't keep the file.
Is it true though that, with a Roku, I heard Audio Guide is only
available to devices registered in the US?
We don't live there, my brother bought a Roku, but when we tried to
find the option to enable AG to see what it does, he said there wasn't
such an option?
Then, when I looked on the internet, I seem to have read somewhere
only US Rokus have the option to enable the screenreader?
Thanks
