Well, if you have a smart phone with the Be My Eyes app installed, you can call Google support through that and get a live accessibility agent at Google to assist.

I do not use Chrome.  I was attempting to be helpful since no one else had responded.

There are lots of Chrome users, so maybe someone will come up with better steps.

I search Start Page and it gave me the following result.

As far as I can tell it is indeed just the old Address Bar – just with extra functions built in by the Chromium engine so it can be used for more than simple entering of addresses.  For example you can apparently also do maths calculations in it.

The important thing is that you are not looking for another edit field to type in, just consider it as the address bar as before.

HTH?  No, sorry not in the least. I have no idea what the omnibox is.  I thought it was the address bar, apparently not.  I only use Edge if I E is not accepted by a website.

Hi All

I’ve pasted a work-around for the problems we’ve been having until the next JAWS Update.

1. From Edge 79, go to address omnibox and type “edge://flags” (without quotes and EXACTLY AS SHOWN).

2. From experiments edit field, type “UI Automation” and press Tab.

3. From Native UI Automation combo box, choose “disabled” and restart Edge if prompted.

list end

It’s slower but like an old friend Internet explore so often comes through when other browsers don’t. I keep it around and still use it when chrome and others just don’t do the job.

And the same applies to Windows 7, as of last week or so official support for Windows 7 has ended and you will get no further security updates. Use at  your own risk.

And whoever told you Edge was not compatible with Jaws is not really telling you the truth.

Almost every browser may have little issues, but you can easily use Edge or Chrome, for me Chrome has been my primary browser probably for about 3 years now. My experience with Firefox has always been more flaky which goes to show how subjective this is, but given the market share Google Chrome has and if you add other chromium based browser it’s even more, this is clearly what the majority of people use and from my observations this is no different among the visually impaired community.

Which may be soon.

It is no longer safe to use IE because it has not been supported for years, and so is vulnerable to hacking and malware attacks.  It is safer to use more modern browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, which are frequently updated and fully supported.
