moderated Find command not working accurately on the web

Rahul Bajaj

Hi,

I Use JAWS 2019 with Chrome. Sometimes, when you perform a find
command [either with control+insert+f or with insert+f], JAWS
immediately says that there are no matching results. This is even
though I know for a fact that there are matching results on the page.
How can I fix this?

I generally love TWBlue's accessibility. However, it does not indicate how many replies or retweets a given tweet has. When I use the hotkey alt+windows+C to expand the conversation, I don't get shown any replies. I've compared the same tweets between Twitter's mobile app

and TWBlue. The mobile app indicates the number of replies and retweets, while TWBlue does not. Pressing enter on a tweet in the mobile app gives me access to a limited number of replies, with options to show more. If there are nested replies, I can access them as well. TWBlue will not show me any of these in any of its buffers.

Hi all,

Using Word 2019 and JAWS 2020 on Windows 10 1909, when I set a temporary place marker for block text selection, the selection's beginning point gets set much earlier than the exact place where I set my marker. The end point, however, is accurate. Is anyone else experiencing this, and how to fix it?

Is there a way to make the new edge handle graphics in the same way as internet explorer, in i-e linked images anounce as image link, but in edge they only anounce as a line of text as a link?

After you’ve entered the password and submitted it, there’s a dialogue to which you have to respond in order to save it. Try Shift+Tab from the top of the page, or Shift+F6 until you get ther.

there you make the browser of your choice as the default browser if you have another installed.
but it won't show until you press enter on the edge browser. then the other browsers you have installed should show in a list.

well, it never did that before I disabled UI Automation.
And, it speaks a shortcut alt+Shift+a and says go to Settings; which does nothing.
So I will ignore it, but it is quite annoying.
It's interesting that I have never had an issue with Firefox, but found Chrome flakey.
O well.

I am not quite ready to put all my eggs in the Edge basket.

After disabling UI Automation, each time I start Edge it asks if I want to make it my default browser.

I have Firefox set as default in Windows Settings.

If I click on a link in an Email or anywhere else, it launches Firefox.

How the h**l do I stop Edge from asking?

I have looked everywhere I can think of in settings and the prompt is not being read by Jaws or Narrator in any meaningful way.

Well, if you have a smart phone with the Be My Eyes app installed, you can call Google support through that and get a live accessibility agent at Google to assist.

I do not use Chrome.  I was attempting to be helpful since no one else had responded.

There are lots of Chrome users, so maybe someone will come up with better steps.

It's precisely the same in Google Chrome as it is in pretty much any Chromium-based browser, and is done in the On Startup page of settings, the direct address of which is, in the Chrome Browser:  chrome://settings/onStartup.
I suggest that folks get to it via the menu and settings, looking for the On Startup entry there, but pasting the above address in a new tab will get you straight ther.

I wrote instructions:  Chromium-based Edge: Setting Home Page, Default Opening Page(s), and Search Engine
It's no different in the On Startup page in Chrome.

If like me, you are finding that when you hit backspace to delete letters in the address bar/search bar, Jaws reads the first letter instead of the letter you are deleting; follow the steps to disable UI Automation.

I did that and now Jaws behaves correctly if I realize I made a typo in the search bar and hit backspace.

Here are the steps again which have been posted by a couple people.

1. From Edge 79, go to address omnibox and type “edge://flags” (without quotes and EXACTLY AS SHOWN).

2. From experiments edit field, type “UI Automation” and press Tab.

3. From Native UI Automation combo box, choose “disabled” and restart Edge if prompted.
