That means your language preference setting on facebook is set to french. No doubt this happened accidentally. You’ll have to go into language settings and change it back to english or whatever language you prefer. If you can’t find it, maybe deleting your browser cookies would do it, but I guess since this is happening with all browsers, maybe the setting isn’t cookie-dependent  so this would help nothing.

Hello

In outlook 2019 , it should be possible to mark visited links in another color.

I can’t find how this should be done or is this by default the case that there is another color?

However, Jaws isn’t anouncing the link as visited while it’s working on webpages.

Can this be configured so that I know which link is already visited from inside a mail message?

Thx in advance

Again, what happened? Even on a Word document which contains a school callendar, I can’t use the table layer/the controls and tables feature. Really stinks, so how to fix?

Hello everyone,

Would you like to make the most of your refreshable braille display with JAWS on Windows? Are you looking to learn more about how braille can be used to make effective presentations? If so, the Braillists Foundation can help!

This coming Tuesday (26 January), join us on Zoom at 7:30 PM in the UK for a session entitled "Using Braille on Windows". You will find out how to pair a windows PC with a braille display, which screen readers support braille output and some tips and tricks for using braille output.

Then, on Tuesday 9 February, we have a session entitled "Using Braille as a Presentation Tool", which will cover using a braille display with Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides. We'll guide you through how braille output works with these applications and the ways in which braille output can enable you to deliver more effective presentations.

The sessions are completely free of charge, will last an hour (ending at 8:30 PM in the UK), and there will be plenty of time for questions. If you'd like to join us, please register at: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwoceivqz8rGtbEERfYGlXFSR2eIqx-oc9o

If this time isn't convenient for you, fear not: the session will be recorded and made available at: https://www.braillists.org/media

It will also be published via our Braillecast podcast – simply search for "Braillecast" in your podcast client of choice, or ask your smart speaker to "play Braillecast". We are also available on the Victor Reader range of DAISY players and the internet radios from British Wireless for the Blind.

Registering for these sessions also entitles you to attend other sessions in our Tuesday evening series, which are all led by experts in their fields. For more information, please visit: https://www.braillists.org/events

If you have any questions about these sessions or are struggling to register, please email help@...

If you would prefer to attend by telephone, the Meeting ID is: 885 6175 4102

We very much look forward to welcoming you to a Braillists event soon – and if you know someone else who's not on this list, but who might nonetheless appreciate hearing about these sessions, please spread the word!

Hi, David. One thing can make Microsoft's Settings behave sort of like that of Google Chrome's Settings. Once you reach the Settings page in edge, if you press the B key a few times, do you see a button labelled something like Main Settings Menu? If so, press SPACE or ENTER on that button, and you will see headings for all the settings.

If you don't see this button, try the following. Once you are in Settings (not Settings and More), TAB once, and see if you see a Settings tree view for which JAWS announces Settings Tree View. If you see this category list, all you need do is Arrow up and down to reach a particular Settings category. Once you find the category you wish to explore, simply press ENTER.

While the new Edge is very nice in many respects, procedures for accessing all the settings you can change is not one of them. It makes no intuitive sense. By contrast, the Chrome Settings page is much easy to figure out for anybody who knows how to navigate by headings. I believe this is an application function and not a JAWS function. There is a option in quick settings and perhaps regular JAWS settings called "smart word" which effect if you ask a word to be spoken if it will speak the word to the next punctuation, or or until the next space. My experience with this is it effects the reading, but not the movement. I generally, read by sentence or paragraph, and then if I need to drill down and read a specific word, will jump over to a braille display.

Hello Mike. Thanks for taking the time to answer the question. I'm sorry I didn't make it clear. When I say reading by word, I mean reviewing the document left to right by word, insert right arrow for each word. Reviewing the document that way, in certain applications, punctuation is included with each word, but other times it is treated as another word, so I have to press the keystroke twice or three times to get past some heavy areas of punctuation.
Does that clarify my problem?
