If you stil need to remove the display from Jaws, you'll need to go into the Add Braille Display  dialog. Then find your device in the list and uncheck it. Then follow the prompts to finish the removal.

I use Jaws 2020 and Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit and I have 4 PC’s at my business and a laptop at home and Jaws starts both at the login screen and after logon 100% of the time on all systems.

Have you checked that Jaws is turned on in Windows Settings (Windows Key + I) > Apps > Startup?

I know that a JAWS script can be written to do this because Brian Hartgen's Leasey program has this option. When Leasey is set to deliver its prompts in sounds mode a pleasant chime sound is heard as soon as a Web page loads. I have it set to do this and I really like the feature.

Hi Richard,

I have this problem as well running Jaws 2020 and Windows 10 Pro the in the latest version of the operating system.  I had been using only Jaws at start but when I use Zoom Text  as well Jaws started  after signing in.  This makes me think there is a problem at start up and the additional time required to start Zoom Text or Fusion allows for Jaws to start up properly.

Not that it hasn't already been mentioned, but SHIFT+F10 is the standard Windows 2-key combination for the context menu.  Keyboards with the menu key/applications key came along much later in the hardware evolution.

I did a simple install and there are no icons and the only thing I can find on my start menu, is the user guide.

I was under the impression that Juan was composing original material which is why I suggested using Microsoft Word to do so and then using Codex to convert it to ePub. I just did a quick search of ePub documents on my computer and when I opened the context menu on one of those files and arrowed to Codex to check what conversion options were possible, Word 2007 was one of the choices. That would create a docx file from an ePub one.

Alan had suggested using Codex which can convert Word to ePub, but it may also be able to convert ePub to Word, then do your edits and convert it back.

Not sure if that would work, but might be worth a try.

I just did a quick search of ePub documents on my computer and when I opened the context menu on one of those files and arrowed to Codex to check what conversion options were possible, Word 2007 was one of the choices. That would create a docx file from an ePub one.

Alan had suggested using Codex which can convert Word to ePub, but it may also be able to convert ePub to Word, then do your edits and convert it back.

Not sure if that would work, but might be worth a try.

I'd recommend you do your document editing and preparation with Microsoft Word and then use the excellent Codex program developed by James Scholes to convert it to ePub format. I am using JAWS2020 and I am trying to create a scheme to play a sound
when a web page loads using the Chrome web browser.
I tried going into the speech and sounds scheme manager and also
reading up on this but I cannot find a means to do this.
Can anyone assist?

Not that it hasn't already been mentioned, but SHIFT+F10 is the standard Windows 2-key combination for the context menu.  Keyboards with the menu key/applications key came along much later in the hardware evolution.

If you happen to want to search for a specific keyboard shortcut, it's generally easier if you activate the "Show All" link near the top of the page to expose all of them at once.

Did you power cycle the braille display? If not, turn it off and then back on. Can you try a different USB cable? The latest NVDA has its own drivers, as I recall, so I’m wondering about the actual connection to the display. Also, trying a different USB port would be a good idea, and not using a USB hub (if you have one) is also recommended.

 

If that doesn’t help, then communicating with your braille display vendor would be in order.

Okay:

First, I did reboot, and jaws still no display detected;

Next,

I tried to use nvda and even though the computer makes the connect noise when  I plug it in,

Nvda doesn’t see it either;

Definitely reboot the system so that JAWS is restarted. If that doesn’t work, test whether NVDA can detect the display, just in case it’s a connection issue.

I did not see a remove option,

Just a combo box saying I can change the default display;

And even if I pick pm display,

And then hit ok,

It still doesn’t see it;

Jaws says the active display is no display, but,

The default combo box says that pm display is default;

How do I reset the active display so it says pmdisplay and then sees it?

Right now, jaws thinks that there is no braille display;
