I have an HTML and text copy of the guide for Outlook 2010, if you are interested?

I know it's not Outlook 2007, but it's available if you want me to send it to you.

I'd need a private e-mail address.

ThanksTom and Kevin for responding.

I finally contacted Microsoft’s Disability Answer Desk about this, and they remoted in to my machine to try and fix it. In the end we found that switching Excel 2016 back to “Normal” view from the status bar and then maximizing the Excel window resolved the issue. When I performed these steps on the other affected system, it resolved the issue there as well.

Good to note for future reference, in case anyone else encounters a similar problem.

Hi Listers,

I have two PCs, both running Windows 10 Pro, Excel 2016, and JAWS 17.0.2417. On both devices, JAWS is unable to interact with the ribbon menus in Excel. If I press the alt key the only menu I can get focus to is the system menu (restore, move, size, minimize, maximize). I am not able to get JAWS to interact with the File, Home, Insert, etc. ribbons/tabs.

I have tried the following to resolve the issue:

-           Enabled/Disabled JAWS Virtual Ribbon Menus feature, I can’t get to the menus either way.

-          Performed a repair installation of Office.

-          Uninstalled/Reinstalled Office.

-          Performed repair installation of JAWS.

-          Tried JAWS 16 and JAWS 17, same issue on both versions.

-          Tried using NVDA, same issue as JAWS.

-          Tried ribbon menus in other Office applications, the ribbons seem to work fine in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Are any other users out there having trouble getting the ribbon menus to work correctly with JAWS in Excel 2016? I didn’t find any reports of other users having this problem, but I am encountering it on two different systems.

If anyone has any additional troubleshooting suggestions, please let me know!

To Unified English Braille Readers

Mark

Hello All,

My name is Mark.

I just switched my Focus 40 Blue Braille display settings, via Jaws 17.x in
Windows 10 Enterprise, to U, E, B, Contracted Braille for both input and
output.. I also enabled Braille Markings so as to display bold and italic
text.

Now when I open MS Word, and type in a sentence, containing one bolded word,
I expect to see the U, E, B, type form indicator, preceding the bolded word.

This does not happen. Instead of seeing dots 45, 5, immediately preceding
the bolded word, I merely see the bolded word with dots 36 below each letter
of the word in question.

I called Freedom Scientific technical support but the rep was of no
assistance informing me that he, too, was experiencing the same display
behavior.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? This is to say, does anyone
know how to configure Jaws so that type form indicators are properly
displayed when using U, E, B?

Thank you,

Mark

Hi Louise,
There are webinars on freedomscientific’s website that are archived. These were live teachings done by Dan Clark on how to use Facebook. The web site is:
Just go to the training page, and you can download the webinars. There are over 30 of them there that were done on many topics, and people were able to ask questions with their mikes. You will hear all of this on the webinar that you download.
Personally, I use the Mobile site for Facebook. The URL is:
m.facebook.com
Do not type www.
The site is much simpler, because it is used on phones, but you can use it on a PC. There are normal links to do everything, and there are no advertizments, apps or none of the stuff that is on the regular site. The Facebook app on Windows 10, is not accessible yet.
Give all of this a try, and let us know what you learn from those webinars from Freedom Scientific. They also go over the key commands that you can use on the regular page, but I prefer the mobile site much better.
Take care, Louise,
David Moore
