Does Convenient OCR work within a MS Outlook 2010 message which is apparently a graphic?

Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.

HI,

I’m running Windows 7 Pro and the latest JAWS 17 on a 64 bit laptop.

I’ve received a message in Outlook 2010 in which only the Header information reads. I’m guessing the message area is a graphic. I can’t seem to get Convenient OCR to work on this. Should it? If so, any pointers to get it to work?

Thanks in advance, Keith

I have a suggestion for more voices for jaws perhaps you on this list who remember keynote gold multimedia and sapi4 infovox230 could also write to freedom scientific so these could be implemented. 1.                FS should have their own version of Baum international TTS so both jaws, and apps outside of jaws can see and use sapi4 voices such as the free TruVoice under sapi5 a sapi4 to sapi5 bridge. 2. Add Japanese Korean and Chinese eloquence languages. 3. Acquire the old sapi4 Infovox230 multilingual and add it to jaws as a sapi voice so both jaws and apps outside of jaws can use it. 3. Acquire Keynote gold Multilingual and add it to jaws as a sapi4 or sapi5 tts engine choice. 4. Add ESpeak to jaws as a tts choice. Then FS could say we have the most voices when installing jaws.

Assistance with auto correct.

Shane clark

Hi list,
So I was trying to get auto correct enabled on Word 2016, on my HP laptop running Win 10, and Jaws 17. I'm able to get to the proofing tav, then to auto correct, but once I press the space  bar and activate this tab, I'm not sure what to do from there. What should I see in this screen, and what do I need to do to enable auto correct, and configure it to my liking?
Thanks so much for any and all assistance, Shane.

Thanks, Shane.

Doc Tom, I'd appreciate if you'd send me what you have on Outlook 2010. I would like to read through it and see if there is something there that I don't have or don't know. I have 2013, but there probably is not a lot of difference. Thanks.

I saw the podcast about Windows 10 Mail. I was tempted to see about getting it, but so afraid I'd lose my contacts, and also in the podcast, it did not say how you got into the contacts, but I'd bet on Shift-Control B.

Bye for now,

Hi Listers,

I have two PCs, both running Windows 10 Pro, Excel 2016, and JAWS 17.0.2417. On both devices, JAWS is unable to interact with the ribbon menus in Excel. If I press the alt key the only menu I can get focus to is the system menu (restore, move, size, minimize, maximize). I am not able to get JAWS to interact with the File, Home, Insert, etc. ribbons/tabs.

I have tried the following to resolve the issue:

-           Enabled/Disabled JAWS Virtual Ribbon Menus feature, I can’t get to the menus either way.

-          Performed a repair installation of Office.

-          Uninstalled/Reinstalled Office.

-          Performed repair installation of JAWS.

-          Tried JAWS 16 and JAWS 17, same issue on both versions.

-          Tried using NVDA, same issue as JAWS.

-          Tried ribbon menus in other Office applications, the ribbons seem to work fine in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Are any other users out there having trouble getting the ribbon menus to work correctly with JAWS in Excel 2016? I didn’t find any reports of other users having this problem, but I am encountering it on two different systems.

To Unified English Braille Readers

Mark

Hello All,

My name is Mark.

I just switched my Focus 40 Blue Braille display settings, via Jaws 17.x in
Windows 10 Enterprise, to U, E, B, Contracted Braille for both input and
output.. I also enabled Braille Markings so as to display bold and italic
text.

Now when I open MS Word, and type in a sentence, containing one bolded word,
I expect to see the U, E, B, type form indicator, preceding the bolded word.

This does not happen. Instead of seeing dots 45, 5, immediately preceding
the bolded word, I merely see the bolded word with dots 36 below each letter
of the word in question.

I called Freedom Scientific technical support but the rep was of no
assistance informing me that he, too, was experiencing the same display
behavior.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? This is to say, does anyone
know how to configure Jaws so that type form indicators are properly
displayed when using U, E, B?

Thank you,

Mark
