Downloading music from Amazon used to be real easy—I’d just go to my music library, find the song I had bought, and then there would be a link to download it.  Now that has all changed.  After I buy a track I cannot get to my music library, and there is no link to directly download.  Have any of you out there been able to solve this problem?

You didn't state any particular program so, while in the program or application press, Insert + V, to open Jaws quick settings.  Now navigate down through all the various settings to see if any column and row settings options are available.

over to the list of items to set up Speech Dictation.
Here you can turn on dictation and make other selections.
There are other options which you can access from this screen or under the “Time & Language” area in settings. This also has a ”speech” settings area.

You can leave dictation on or allow for sleep until you call for it.

I have a client who wishes to use some dictation software with JAWS. We have tried the new Dictate add-in with Word and JAWS. It works reasonably well, but seems to lack some of the “bells and whistles” like literal numbers or word and correction. But for get thoughts on a page and going back and “cleaning up, it is a good choice.

I get very mixed reviews on Dragon Naturally speaking and JAWS. I read everything from it works well to they don’t play nice together and it is difficult to set up.

Wondering about experiences anyone may have had trying to use Dragon with JAWS. My person is running JAWS 2020, and Office 365 on a Windows 10 computer. If it does work what do we have to do to make it so? Also a question of a headset mic vs tabletop. My client doesn’t care for headsets, but if a must have, a recommendation for a reasonably priced one.

Vaughn,

            You'd need to be a lot more specific about the nits they're picking in order to get a focused answer.  That being said, I would ask what font face and point size is wanted as a starting point.  And if all of your papers are to be delivered to individuals and departments who dictate that font then I'd edit your Normal.dotm file (details later, if needed) so that any blank document you open will default to having it from the get-go.

             Word includes the Styles feature, and if you are told which of the various Styles they'd prefer you use, you could activate that before starting the paper and the various fonts, sizes, indents, outline/bullet styles, etc., will conform to that Style.

             It's the parentheses part I really can't answer, as they will be presented in whatever font you're using.  Now if the issue is they want different delimiters at different times, e.g. square brackets, curly braces, and the like then they need to make clear under what circumstances each is wanted, or refer you to something like the Chicago Manual of Style or other formatting reference that reflects what's being asked for.

            I have several questions before I try to offer any guidance:

1.  Are you already familiar and comfortable with Outlook calendar?

2.  Is the Google Calendar you're trying to manage your own, or does it belong to someone else or another entity and you've been granted modification permissions?

3.  Am I safe in presuming, at least at the moment, that you are trying to use the Google Calendar web interface to create/edit events/appointments?

Google Calendar's own web interface has changed, not like last week recently, but within the last year, so that a minimal set of features for an event, not including notifications, is shown by default.  You must activate the More Options control in order to have the full complement of event options, including the Notifications controls, become visible.  There are only two Notification methods, email and notification.  Email is exactly what you'd think, an e-mail is sent to you to remind you at whatever interval prior to the event you set.  Notification will cause a pop-up on a desktop computer or a notification message on a smartphone that's much like a text, but generated by Google Calendar.

MS Word actually has a number of features to protect you from various threats that are spread via Word files. One of these features

 (opens in a new tab)

in the read-only mode so it can’t affect your computer negatively.

This may be the reason why your documents always open in the read-only mode. Turning this option off should fix the issue for you.

list of 2 items

1. Open MS Word on your computer.

2. Click on the Options option at the lower-left corner and it’ll open the settings menu.

3. Click on the General tab in the left sidebar if you aren’t already there. Then on the right-hand side menu, scroll down and find the option that says

Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view.

4. Uncheck the box for the option and click on OK to save the changes.

5. The Word files you’ve received as email attachments should now open in regular mode letting you edit them however you want.

I’m using most recent versions of windows10 and Jaws2020 and word2016. I keep getting documents attached to an email in protected mode. I turned off protected mode. Now the documents is in read only mode. I couldn’t find where to turn this off. Where would I turn off read only mode?

I believe the release date is tomorrow Nov. 12 or some time next week at the latest.  Remember nothing is for certain accept the government everyone wants is never elected. Smile.
