Re: A Question About Installing The Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Peter Tesar

Hello,

Regarding this anniversary Window 10 update, it seems to be a major update.

Why would I want to do it?

I have been getting the frequent updates for a year now. I upgraded to Windows 10, from Windows 7, 1 year ago.

Because of the daily updates, I assumed that my current Windows 10 was already up to date.

Is there any advantage to updating to the Windows 10 anniversary version?
Is there a risk that all existing applications will be wiped out?

Yes Windows 10 has taken that keystroke for something else it seems. I did
read on twitter that an update is soon to be forth coming with a different

Re: Save Documents to Local as Default

Try this;

1, create new document,

2, now we need to save,
So press alt+f4,
Or,
F12,
This will take you to a save dialog,
Save as dialog,
Give the file a name,

3, shift+tab until you hear,
Tree-view,
Most likely you will hear one-drive closed,
Down arrow until you hear,
This pc closed,
Right arrow to open, find documents and press enter.
Now continue with the save process.
Hope this helps.

Re: Save Documents to Local as Default

Elise,

Try doing a Windows Search on "default save locations."  I do not have a Windows 8.1 computer handy, but there is a system setting under Win10 that allows you to tweak this.  I changed mine from OneDrive to "This PC" on day one.

What Bill White describes is true enough, but there are far too many opportunities as you open various programs for OneDrive to be used "first in line" if that's what the system has set as the initial default save location.  It's far better to remove it from the equation entirely such that saves there can only happen by intention, not by accident.

Hi, Elise. I believe you need to go into the "Save As" dialog using F12, then press the Browse button, once you are saving a document. If you once save a document to your local drive, all future documents should save to that location until you change it again.

been using WordPad, but that's not a very good workaround.

I am using windows 10, office 365, and the latest version of jaws. I
think this started happening before the latest jaws update came out. I
wish I had any idea when it would be fixed.

Thanks, Bonnie

Robin, I've noticed that when going through tweets in Chicken Nugget,
sometimes Jaws is very slow to respond when I press down arrow to move from
tweet to tweet. I hope this is addressed in the update. I'm also running
Windows 10's anniversary release.

Hi,
Yes Windows 10 has taken that keystroke for something else it seems. I did
read on twitter that an update is soon to be forth coming with a different
key map. Meanwhile my way around this was to do a clean uninstall and
reinstall thus the program came up in main window where I could edit the
keystroke to my own liking for the time being. I’d been told that this can
also be done via the conf file but doing so didn’t work for me.
I hope this helps.

Ever since I updated Windows 10 to the Anniversary update I can’t get the
main screen to come up for Chicken Nugget. Alt-Windows-W no longer works. I’ve
also tried ctrl-Windows-W and Alt-ctrl-Windows-W. Is anyone else having this
issue?

jaws 16:

Hi I am running the windows 10 anaversary update, and I was wondering if jaws 16 will work with it. I am planning on purchasing the upgrade to jaws 17 soon, but I only have jaws 16 to install.

Hi,
chicken Nugget is a desktop client allowing blind people to access twitter without needing to interact with the site.
I hope that helps.

Hi,
I haven't observed that behavior here but most of the time I run in global mode so I'm not in main window. but hopefully the new update will perform better for you.
