Hi,
Here still doing it manually cycling back and forth between word processor and audio player of one's choosing.
Since it still works well enough I didn't feel the need to attempt anything other.
Hope that helps.

When transcribing MP3s or other audio files, has anyone tried transcription software from NCH, or has anyone tried using a media player and setting up global hotkeys so you can control the player without moving out of the word processing program you're using to type the transcription?

If either scenario has been attempted with Windows 10 as the operating system, I'd love to hear about it.

Re: copying jaws configuration and personal settings to a different computer

Mohith BP

Hi,

You can find your personal settings from:
All Programs> JAWS> Explore JAWS> Explore My Settings

Copy all the items from here and just paste in the same directory of
another computer.
If you want specific configurations, then copy only the one you need.

Thanks & Regards,
Mohith B. P.

Hi Pablo,

You can find your configuration settings files in the ENU folder of each version of Jaws.
Take care.

Hello Eric,
You might try 101 Tips and Tricks For Excel, available from Book Share. It
is written for sighted persons, but Pivot Tables are as well; requiring a
certain amount of mouse clicking. It will give you an idea of what they are
all about at any rate, and you can navigate around the ribbon to acquire
some of the keystrokes.
Cheers Kevin.

Good morning all,
Guys, I am needing your help. How can I increase the amount of text that the

Is there a way to increase the virtual buffer size?

Hi,
What does a standard and nonstandard windows class nean? And how does assigning them work?

You might try two things, as follows.  First, in JAWS settings, you can find options for how buttons are read such as screen text, alt attribute an so on.  Try messing around with those.  Second, in JAWS Manager (ins+F2) and when on a button see what “window Class” is assigned.  Perhaps reassigning a non standard class to the standard “button” class fixes the problem.

Hi listers,
I just installed Windscribe on my laptop, running Win 10, Jaws 17. It appears as though this program isn't accessible with Jaws, all I'm hearing while tabbing around is button, button, button. Is there a way to possibly make this accessible, and if not, do you guys know of another free VPN?
Thanks, Shane.

Bill:

I will follow this thread with interest.

Currently, I have Firefox 47.01, and, at least so far, I haven’t gotten the update to Firefox 48.

I thought I had set things to automatically update Firefox as needed, but that doesn’t seem to have happened.

Will leave well enough alone, at least for now.

Hello, JAWS, Firefox users. With the advent of Firefox version 48.0, the JAWS cursor no longer reads the screen, even though, in the Firefox configuration file:

"gfx.direct2d.disabled" has a value of True.
"layers.acceleration.disabled" has a value of True.
layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled has a value of False.

Has anyone heard of a new fix to get the JAWS cursor to become accessible in Firefox again?

Thank you.

Windows 10 newbee help needed

Chris Chaffin

I have a friend that has upgraded to windows 10 and is having a hard time learning how to get around. He is coming from windows 7, so the learning curve might be a little more. Is there a podcast or something out there that can help introduce him to windows 10? I do not know if it matters, but he is using the Jaws screen reader, version 17.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris
