tables in outlook 2016

Stan Holdeman

It seems like a lot of emails in Outlook 2016 are laid out in table form, and I am having lots of trouble navigating them with jaws 18.

Where can I get some help in getting around in these emails?

Stan

Hello Group,

I am running the latest JFW 18 on a Windows 7 Machine.  When in Outlook 2010, the quick key of F7 no longer brings up the spell check.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

No, not without changing the activate links setting in quick settings.
Once I changed that setting everything worked fine, at least in the
application I posted about. I have some other issues with version 18,
but that's for another post.

Question: Can you activate the links using the Jaws list links command

I've found some web pages with Firefox where tabbing to the link and
pressing enter or left clicking with the Jaws mouse command does not
work since updating to Jaws 18.
Right click on a link and see if you get link commands or if you get
other navigation choices such as back and forward.

Don't know if it is related to Jaws or Firefox updates. Have not tested
with IE.

Just curious whether anyone has come across any web sites or web-based

I work for the federal govt and we have a web-based application for
time keeping -- entering vacation time or sick time etc. Although I
can log on with jaws 18, once in the application none of the links
work. At first I thought it was a problem with the app itself. But
once I switched back to jaws 17, everything worked perfectly.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Instead of hitting enter on a link, hit control enter.

Likewise, to open the link in a completely new window, hit shift enter.

If you go into the menu bar, tools, options, advanced, you can find
settings for tabbed browsing which let you set things like, if focus
should switch to the new tab when it's open, or if control tab should
take you to the next tab in the tab order or the most recently visited
tab.

Good luck.

Re: Pasting text into a console window

Jason,

Also try issuing the JAWS pass-through command, JAWS KEY + 3 on the number row, before issuing the CTRL+V.  CTRL+V works just fine for me but I also don't routinely have a screen reader running.  This makes me think that JAWS has somehow appropriated CTRL+V when the Command Prompt is running.

This worked. Thank you for your help.

I also discovered that, if you run mingw64, its console window has an
"options" dialog under the System menu, in which you can enable Shift+letter
keys as shortcuts. If this is done, Ctrl+Shift+V will paste text from the
clipboard into the console.

Of course, this is not the console used in PowerShell (or, presumably, the
Subsystem for Linux, which I look forward to using once the update is
installed).

If there's no editable forms, I just save the pdf as a text file, then
write the answers into the text file before sending it to them.

If this doesn't happen then you probably need to print it out and get a

and email it back as an image.

With your text on the clipboard perform a right click into the console
window, or bring up the system menu for the console window go down to
"Edit" and choose paste.

Note that when using jaws I have found that it helps a lot if I switch
to the jaws cursor before doing the right click (I use jaws+numpad -
for this rather than just numpad -

see if it works; it did for me.
1) Go into settings center using insert+v.
2) In the search box" type "link activation".
3) In the search results, find "link activation".
4) Press the space bar once to change the setting from "enter simulates
mouse click" to "enter presses Enter key", or something to that effect.
5) Tab to OK and press Enter to exit settings center.
6) Re-test the application; if it doesn't fix the issue, restart Jaws &
re-test.

Hope this helps.

I Cannot Do A Search from the Titan TV Website

Rick Miller

Dear Listers:

I know how to find the listing for a TV program using Titan TV’s mobile website, but at that site it says that if you want to do a search for a program you need to go to the regular website, and when I go there and try to search for a program I can’t do it.  One reason, I’ve just discovered, is because if a script is too long JAWS won’t work.  If I stop the script then when I locate the search box whatever I try to enter is jumbled and I don’t get any result.  If I want to search for a program using the regular web site, do any of you have any bits of advice as to how I can resolve this?  Often I get an error message that says, “A problem caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab.”  I am using Windows 10 and the latest version of Internet Explorer.
