Re: Certain web-based applications not working with Jaws 18

For my work, we use Kronos, and lucky for me, they have the lite version available for my machine where I go to get into it, otherwise that's one whose regular interface uses a lot of flash which gets unpredictable to where it will go in the activities section that we don't use instead of letting me punch in, and I wouldn't be able to approve easily. I can't see how much vacation I've earned with the lite one, but at least I don't have to create additional lost time or artificial lateness when help can take a long time to arrive.

Hi,
I have seen similar behavior with an application called e-time, which I use at work for punching in and out, checking my time cards, et cetera. It worked fine with Jaws 17 but Jaws 18 was a problem. Try this procedure and see if it works; it did for me.
1) Go into settings center using insert+v.
2) In the search box" type "link activation".
3) In the search results, find "link activation".
4) Press the space bar once to change the setting from "enter simulates mouse click" to "enter presses Enter key", or something to that effect.
5) Tab to OK and press Enter to exit settings center.
6) Re-test the application; if it doesn't fix the issue, restart Jaws & re-test.

Hope this helps.

That shouldn't matter. I tried it by putting in random numbers in column
a1:a10. I put the formula =average(a1:a10) in cell a11 and it came up with
an average. Not all cells had numbers in them. If you don't want the error
showing up you can try =ifError(average(a2:a101),""). The formula will show
a blanck cell if there is an error. As far as getting it to the other cells
I would just do a copy paste. I hope this helps.

I you want to use the formulas dialog, press ALT+m, then f. Tab to the

fill in range after range after range, tabbing from one to the next.

I have an excel database, consisting of 10 columns and over 100 rows.

Every once in a while I have to copy several rows and their corresponding columns.

Then send them to a person via email. The problem I have come across winmail is sending it in table mode. This makes sense, but all I want is it to be in plain text as if I typed all the information with only a space between columns.

Is this possible, if so then how?

Right now all I do is hold down the shift key and arrow to the end of a row and then hit control c for copy

Then go into winmail and paste.

If I do this in note pad all is fine.

This list has been so helpful!

Thank you for your support!

Re: excel questions

Chris Chaffin

Hello,
For your situation, you could try using the sum function combined with the count function.
Another words, you could get the sum of numbers in the range of cells, then use the count function to divide by the number of numbers you have.  This would hopefully get rid of your error.

In your example, try this formula:
I noticed that you did not include c102 in your formula, so I left it out.

=sum(b102, d102:m102)/counta(b102, d102:m102)

Let me know if you have any questions.

Chris

Re: excel questions

Nicole Massey <nyyki@...>

Remember that for a range of cells you can reflect all of them with a colon,
so you could do something like =average(D102:L102) and it's give you an
average for the entire range. This is helpful as there is a limit as to how
many operators you can put in a formula separated by commas.

Re: excel questions

Dave...

Joe,

There may be another function for averaging that avoids any zero values.
Otherwise, create a formula that first finds all non-zero values, and then
adds them up and divide by the total count of non-zero values. That takes a
few functions, but workable. I recall doing something like this several
years ago. First try to find a built-in function that averages all non-zero
values.

Also, check the Excel help function to look for any web-sourced solutions to
your question.

You said...After encountering yet another error in my Outlook 2016, I contacted You said...the Disability Answer desk. You said...I wouldn't hold my breath that the 64 Bit version will suddenly work You said...better, maybe it will when Office 2018 or whatever the next version You said...will be comes out, but for now I would get rid of it and install the 32 You said...Bit version. You can also paste it into Notepad, which will also change the table into tab delimited text. I've found this to be faster than trying to convert tables in Word.

Mark,

Only way I've found is to paste that section into Word. That creates a table. Then convert the table into text, using space as a delimiter. Then copy that text and paste into an email.

Re: Certain web-based applications not working with Jaws 18

Tom Lange

Hi,
I have seen similar behavior with an application called e-time, which I use at work for punching in and out, checking my time cards, et cetera.

Hi all,

Just curious whether anyone has come across any web sites or web-based
applications that don't work with jaws 18?

I work for the federal govt and we have a web-based application for
time keeping -- entering vacation time or sick time etc. Although I
can log on with jaws 18, once in the application none of the links
work. At first I thought it was a problem with the app itself. But
once I switched back to jaws 17, everything worked perfectly.

Anyone seen anything like this?

I think that's a heading rather than a header.

If one wishes to remove only 1 header, press control shift N while the header is selected, to convert it to normal text.

Subject: Re: removing headders in Word 2016

That depends on how the author set up headers. It's possible to divide a document into sections, and have different headers for each section. It's also possible to have one header for page one, and a second header for all the other pages of a section . And it's further possible to have different headers for odd and even pages within a section. So a single document can have many different headers. But your friend can't choose which ones she gets rid of - if the document is set up with a header on every page and your friend deletes the header on any page, they all go.

If your friend doesn't know how the author originally set the headers up, she's going to have to go through the document and check it.

To do this she can press Alt, N, H, E to go into the header on the current page. This adds a second Design tab to the ribbon; press Alt, J, H to get to it, Tab once to the first control on this tab, then Ctrl + Right until she's on the Options group box and make sure the first two checkboxes are unchecked. Note that if either of them is checked and she unchecks it, that will also take her out of the ribbon. That ensures there is only a single header in this section. She can then do the Alt, N, H, R to remove the header for that section.

To find out if there's more than one section in the document, press Insert + F1 and read through the output. If there is more than one section, press Escape to close the Insert + F1 dialogue, then Ctrl + G, Shift + Tab once, DownArrow to Section, then Enter to jump to the next section and Escape to close the Go To dialogue. Then repeat the instructions in the previous paragraph.

Rinse and repeat until all the sections are dealt with.

I hope that's clear? Happy to take it off list if you need to do this, or for you to pass my details on to your friend. I'm steve.griffiths@guidedogs.org.uk

I have Word 2013 and I remove header by press Alt plus W for View, H for header, and R for remove header. All headers are removed from the documents. Since I don't have 2016, I can speak for that but I know this works for 2013 and I am almost positive the same feature was in 2010. Just checked Internet and it says it works the same for 2016. If your document has sections, you have to do it for each section.

My friend has posed a question that I don't know what I can tell her.
I'm not certain there is a way to remove the headings without also stripping out formatting, pictures, tables, etc?I recall in Word 2003, there was a clear option in the edit menu, but the question involves Word 2016:

"I have a very long word doc with headers, is there a way to clean up the doc and get rid of the headers without doing the entire document over?"

Suggestions:

Do you have an anti-virus that is getting in the way?
Do you have enough hard disc space, or solid state memory to install?
Have you set your speech to "All" (insert+S) during the install so that you
can hear where the installation aborts?
