Hi Bill,

There is another browser out there called “brave”.

You might want to try that. I tried it, and as a result, I uninstalled chrome.

Brave has exactly the same functionality (at least I found no difference), and it has a much smaller foot print on the computer.

Also, in my experience, it runs faster.

I found an answer to my question about genius.com. Google Chrome will render it, whereas Edge and Firefox did not for me.

Why that’s just great!!!

Why not make the rest of us unequal to those in the u.s. by not allowing anyone in Ireland for example, take advantage of the same thing.

This, to me, is discrimination.

Freedom Scientific is extending the Free Home-Use Software Until August 31, 2020.

Extended Free Home-Use Software For Those Affected by COVID-19

First and foremost, we hope that you and your family are safe and well.

Thank you for taking advantage of the free home access of JAWS, Fusion and ZoomText. Our goal is simply to help you remain accessible as you work and study remotely. Due to Covid-19, and the impact to our customers, during Summer Schools sessions especially, we have decided to extend the expiration date on the Free June 30th software licenses to August 31, 2020. Your license will automatically be extended so there is nothing extra for you to do.

As many people have requested to continue using the product past the August 31st expiration, we are offering a 20% discount to anyone in the United States to extend their Home Annual License if you purchase your renewal before July 31st. All you need to do to take advantage of this offer is to go into the software portal prior to July 31st and choose the Renewal Option and select 1, 3, or 5 years for the Home Annual license of that product and the renewal time will begin after the August 31st date.

Hi,

I sincerely apologize if I’m not supposed to send this to multiple people, but I’d really like to get this solved.

With the June update, which was released today, the settings export wizard still crashes.

Can anyone uncover the mystery, as to why this would be?

What happens is:

  1. Go to the utilities menu, and click export settings.
  2. Leave the default option, which is to export all settings as is
  3. Press enter, which will press the “next” button

At this point, the wizard may crash.

This happens every time for me.

Thanks,

Jessica

So does the new option in jaws mean that if we reset or sell a computer that we will not lose a jaws key..or will we still lose a actavation key.

This would be good if we was to reset or need to sell computer and remove the key from it.

Cheers Michael.

I did it using the update wizard.

I’ve also tried downloading it via the exe file with the previous version, which, sadly, didn’t fix the issue.

At this point, the wizard may crash.

This happens every time for me.

Hi,

I did it using the update wizard.

I’ve also tried downloading it via the exe file with the previous version, which, sadly, didn’t fix the issue.

Hi Jessica,

When you updated to this latest version of J2020, did you download and run the installer from your computer, or did you download and install using the Jaws update wizard?

The export settings wizard worked perfectly on both my Windows 7 & 10 computers running this latest Jaws2020 build.

Thanks,

Jessica

Sorry Jessica, but I just went through the entire process with no problem whatsoever. It ran flawlessly.
I am running the newest Jaws 2020 and the new Win10 2004.

Hi again, Jessica. One thing you might want to try is the following,

Turn off your antivirus, perform the export of JAWS settings, see if it crashes, then turn on your antivirus again. Sometimes a system will act badly with software in certain situations, and this may be one of them. The same thing may be true concerning the new Avoid sound card clipping setting in JAWS.

Hi, Jessica. I am using Microsoft Windows

Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.900) with JAWS 2020, latest update. My export wizard did not crash. I exported the settings as is to the desktop.

I always create a restore point before installing any new software on my system including Jaws. I have had to dial back more than once since Jaws 4.5 when I first began.

I am a bit surprised that FS doesn't include previous builds of a particular version of JAWS on their Web site for people who feel the need to revert to a previous build within the same release cycle. While they do have previous versions this only gives you the last version for a particular release.

I just updated Jaws 2020 to the June update on my laptop. When I tried to activate the new Avoid Silence feature it crashes instantly and repeatedly. Now it won’t load for more than a few seconds before crashing. I just removed it and have gone back to the last 2019 version. Is there a way to find and install the version from April? I mean the one that didn’t break email conversion handling in Outlook.

Thanks

Turning off speaking comments in JAWS does not affect the document; just what JAWS tells you about it. You can turn reading of comments back on at any time and everything will still be there.

Hello, I have an editor working on a book I wrote. They have comments on. Is there a way to turn off comments that the editor put in the book? The reason I'm asking is I don't want to here 'comment' at the beginning of a comment and then at the end of it. Yet I want to be able to turn it back on so I can get the next comment and see what it is refering to in the document. Thanks, Kevin
