John, where the version number should be, it says 70.0. 64 bit. Does that sound reasonable? I don’t know enough to know.

The error says something to the effect that “We’re sorry but there has been an error with the order. Check your accounts….” I put in quotes, but it’s really a paraphrase. And then if I go to IE, I can get the usual screen and place the order.

 

I’m puzzled.  Is it JAWS? Amazon? Firefox? Or me?

You could try running Firefox with add-ons disabled to see if one of your extensions is at fault

 

The option can be found under the help menu to disable addons

Hi,

  All of the suggestions recommended  were already in use.  While it seems odd this kind of bug exists   and although two of us are the only ones experiencing it be assured it is real and not due to human error.  So often when issues arise we are ready to say it can’t occur.  While human error is  often the cause ma I caution all users not to so easily dismiss problems or strange issues just because they are rare.  Software is quite imperfect and even the best contains many bugs that do not appear on all systems and under all circumstances.

All deleted messages go into trash, not into deleted folders. Thank you, tech support.

I do not delete from trash unless I know exactly what message is being deleted. And, of course, I go through the trash to find disappeared messages.

 

I checked twice, I did not see focused inbox.

 

I came from Office 2010. Now that was a great suite. With the exception of an occasional hiccup, Outlook 2010 performed beautifully. I’ve regretted jumping to 365 every day I’ve had it.

 

I wish I had kept all my tech support messages. I know at least one repair has been done, and I think a reinstall, but I’m not sure about that.

 

I know everybody thinks this is my own fault. But, even if I somehow were deleting important messages, wouldn’t I be able to find them someplace on my PC?

I agree, this makes actually no sense at all because Office 365 is simply a subscription service which allows you to download and install the Office suite on a number of computers and, in addition, you also get 1 Tb of OneDrive storage, 60 monthly Skype minutes etc. But after you install Office you simply have the latest version of Outlook, Excel, Word and so on installed, Office 365 itself has nothing at all to do with emails disappearing from Outlook.

I wonder if Norma has Focused Inbox available in her View settings and if it is checked which would cause some messages not to be displayed unless you chose to see them.

To check press Alt + V for the view menu, down arrow once and then tab 5 times (at least that gets me to the focused Inbox), if you don’t see Focused Inbox then don’t worry about it.

I have been an Office 365 Small Business subscriber for at least 6 or maybe even more years and I never had an email disappear which I didn’t delete. And even if I deleted some, I can go to Deleted Items, press Shift + Tab once to “Restore deleted messages” and go through at least a month worth of deleted messages which I can restore at will. I think, however, that this feature may be limited to Exchange accounts which is what I use for my business and to Outlook.com accounts which is what I use privately.

I’ve had messages disappear from Outlook 365 ever since I started using it. I’m not permanently deleting them, because I didn’t even know that keystroke until this thread. I’ve had tech support tell me they’re going to get my deleted messages back but they don’t. I’ve looked in trash and used Search Everything and Recuva and have not found the messages I need to get back. Some are personal in nature, some are software registration codes and receipts, etc. For me, Outlook 365 is so unreliable that I use Thunderbird for my small business. And, another thing about tech support, they seem to do more harm than good when I’ve tried to have them resolve an issue with this Outlook. I have a copy of Office 2016 and I’m this close to jumping off 365 and installing 2016. Thanks for letting me vent, Norma

Yes, I think it’s inadvisable to have messages automatically deleted from trash.

The command to delete a message permanently is shift-del. Again, for most of us, inadvisable.

Also, aside from the fact that Jaws doesn't delete emails, there is a setting in Outlook to empty the trash/deleted folder upon exit; something I used to have checked, until I wanted to find an email I had deleted.

I now leave that unchecked so I have to manually remove them from the trash.

That is, of course, unless I use a command that causes immediate, permanent deletion, which I think is control-d.

Some are personal in nature, some are software registration codes and receipts, etc. For me, Outlook 365 is so unreliable that I use Thunderbird for my small business. And, another thing about tech support, they seem to do more harm than good when I’ve tried to have them resolve an issue with this Outlook. I have a copy of Office 2016 and I’m this close to jumping off 365 and installing 2016. Thanks for letting me vent, Norma

Yes, I think it’s inadvisable to have messages automatically deleted from trash.

The command to delete a message permanently is shift-del. Again, for most of us, inadvisable.

Also, aside from the fact that Jaws doesn't delete emails, there is a setting in Outlook to empty the trash/deleted folder upon exit; something I used to have checked, until I wanted to find an email I had deleted.

I now leave that unchecked so I have to manually remove them from the trash.

That is, of course, unless I use a command that causes immediate, permanent deletion, which I think is control-d.

Hi,

  JAWS 2020 seems to have ongoing issues with Outlook.  Today I forwarded a message in Outlook and somehow JAWS managed to delete several e-mails.  The mail is gone from Outlook, Web Mail and is not in my trash or other folders.  I am using JAWS 2020, Outlook 365 , and Windows 10 home latest version.  Outlook behaves properly with sighted person and yet gets a bit sluggish with JAWS.  This latest bug reminds me again of how much I appreciate Narrator.  I truly believe JAWS has become so interested in new features that they are failing to catch bugs that are cropping up in programs that are critical to so many.

i have had to show my cards to the preparers here for the last 3 years.
but the center closed because of the corola virus. so now i don't have any place to go in person that won't break the bank. grin.

I had not tried to input braille with the Orbit Reader 20 and Jaws until now, and no characters are being entered in MS Word.

I have the Jaws setting to do both input and output of UEB Contracted. 

Is there another setting I need to set to allow braille input.

I am going to post this same question to the Orbit Reader list.

Another thing to remember is that JAWS sometimes reports email subjects incorrectly. If JAWS reports two emails with the same subject/sender, sometimes one of them actually has a different subject/sender but JAWS has reported it incorrectly. When I hear two items--email messages or documents--with the same title, I use insert-esc to redraw the page and make sure I have the correct information. Otherwise, it is possible to delete a message reported as one thing and actually another.

I agree, this makes actually no sense at all because Office 365 is simply a subscription service which allows you to download and install the Office suite on a number of computers and, in addition, you also get 1 Tb of OneDrive storage, 60 monthly Skype minutes etc. But after you install Office you simply have the latest version of Outlook, Excel, Word and so on installed, Office 365 itself has nothing at all to do with emails disappearing from Outlook.

I wonder if Norma has Focused Inbox available in her View settings and if it is checked which would cause some messages not to be displayed unless you chose to see them.

To check press Alt + V for the view menu, down arrow once and then tab 5 times (at least that gets me to the focused Inbox), if you don’t see Focused Inbox then don’t worry about it.

What email service and protocol do you use, Norma?

I have been an Office 365 Small Business subscriber for at least 6 or maybe even more years and I never had an email disappear which I didn’t delete. And even if I deleted some, I can go to Deleted Items, press Shift + Tab once to “Restore deleted messages” and go through at least a month worth of deleted messages which I can restore at will. I think, however, that this feature may be limited to Exchange accounts which is what I use for my business and to Outlook.com accounts which is what I use privately.

Have you exited outlook before checking the trash for the deleted message?

 

If so, then the empty trash on exit is enabled.

 

If not, I would also check the archive settings if Microsoft didn’t already do that.

I’ve had messages disappear from Outlook 365 ever since I started using it. I’m not permanently deleting them, because I didn’t even know that keystroke until this thread. I’ve had tech support tell me they’re going to get my deleted messages back but they don’t. I’ve looked in trash and used Search Everything and Recuva and have not found the messages I need to get back.
