Jenni, here's the solution that might be what you're looking for:

Money Talks is a completely accessible bank account management software
package developed by American Printing House (APH). This software package
offers the user a simple and effective means of recording and maintaining
accurate information for a variety of accounts. The user can import and use
electronic banking information to reconcile accounts, remember the last
workspace used in the program, emboss or print the check register in a variety
of formats, and print many types of bank checks. Can be used with a screen
reader or with its own self-voicing feature.

Quickbooks can do what you want, although you do need scripts from
myblindspot.com and its not perfect, even then, but it should work, and
although I have not used it, the online version is supposed to be more
accessible.

I just tried this on the main Google page where I first looked for something to search for. I saw a link called "Stay home save lives".
I then went to the top of the page, pressed Control + F and typed "Stay" and after pressing enter Jaws went right away to that link.
Having said this, I noticed Jaws said "Jaws search" when I pressed Control + F, but II usually use Control + Shift + F to bring up the Jaws Find dialogue. It may work the same on a web page, but in Adobe Reader for example, Control + F bring up the Adobe find dialogue and not the Jaws Find dialogue and I have better luck with the Jaws Find.
Which version of Edge do you use?

Hi Sieghard

I take your point, that there can be other things effecting jaws.
However, I feel lately, that there is a lot of things that freedom scientific are not testing.
You may have been lucky with this, as you had access to the group policy editor in windows pro. As you know, this is not available in windows home.
Another thing I have discovered for example, is that in the new Microsoft chrome edge, try the following.
Press ctrl+f to enter the find box.
Try to type something that you know is on the page.
You will not find it.
Press close on the diagolue box.
Now using the f3 key to enter jaws find.
Jaws will say that the item cannot be found.
This new edge is only out.
Surely, someone testing this with jaws in freedom scientific discovered this?
If not why?

Pat

Hello Pat,

I don't wan to minimize the issues you had, but Jaws 2020 has been out for over 6 months and while there will always be certain configurations and systems with various issues, these may not always be 100% the fault of Jaws.
I, for example, had one computer where for over a year I could not use any of the Windows apps like Calculator and in addition to that Jaws would read absolutely nothing in the start menu or the Settings app. I could open Settings and when somebody checked I was told visually everything was fine, I could right arrow and down arrow and focus would move, I could press enter and whatever category I was on opened up and so on, but Jaws was absolutely silent. This was even before Jaws 2020 came out and it was like this with Jaws 2018 and Jaws 2019 and nothing I did including completely uninstalling both versions, deleting all Jaws folders and reinstalling would fix it. At the same time I had another almost identical computer at my business with very similar hardware and all worked fine. Finally I read a post somewhere where another user had the same problem and somehow they either found out or were told to check if a particular item in the group policy editor in Windows 10 Pro was enabled. I checked the same setting and it was disabled on this particular computer, I have no idea why or how, but it was and as soon as I enabled it all worked perfectly. Narrator, by the way, worked just fine in the Settings app, start menu and calculator, it was just Jaws which had the problem and the problem which fixed the issue had nothing to do with Jaws, but was simply a Windows setting.
I mentioned this because it shows how sometimes a problem with Jaws can be extremely specific to one system and be caused by something which is directly not even related to Jaws. I am convinced that if I had wiped the system and reinstalled Windows this would have also fixed the problem, but this happened to be on the PC we use as the main register at my retail store and there is other software on this system which is not quite so easy to reinstall so for the longest time I just put up with it and used Narrator if I wanted to do something in the Settings, I hardly ever use the start menu anyways and when I needed to calculate something I'd just open up Excel instead of using the Calculator. This way I could work around the problem, but it was sure nice when it turned out to be such a simple fix which took me all of 30 seconds to make.

Best regards,
Sieghard

I finally got it to work removing all the jaws installations and only installing a 2003 build of 2020. Now, on my laptop running windows 10 had no problems with the 2004.66 update of jaws 2020. go figure!

The differences between the Google Chrome browser and the Microsoft Chromium-based Edge browser are minimal.

If you can operate Chrome with whatever screen reader you've been using you should be able to operate Chromium-based edge.  I just went through a long back-and-forth on the NVDA group with someone insisting they had "the latest" Edge.  Well, they did, but not the Chromium-based one.  The two are worlds apart and original Edge is dead browser walking.

Hi,

I will assume that you have this version number of the new Microsoft Edge:

Microsoft Edge Version 81.0.416.68

You also need to be running the latest version and build:

Version 2020.2004.66

This is JAWS 2020. This build came out earlier this week.

If you don’t have JAWS 2020 and this latest build you can download a free use of JAWS from the Freedom Scientific website which will be good until the end of June.

Hi All,

I have just installed the new chrome edge (stable version).

Can anyone make sense of this so called new brilliant browser?

No matter what i do in settings, it still insists on using the “bing” virus as a search engine. I imported my settings from google chrome, and it ignored them completely.

It wont let me edit a profile.

However, it keeps adding them. Now i have “profile1” and “profile2”.

Has anyone got rid of this “thing” after installing it?

Can someone with a science degree tell me how to use this piece of what seems to be rubbish?

Sorry, i don’t mean to be sarcastic, but i am sick and tired of Microsoft saying that their things are great, only to find, that they just don’t work with jaws.

Pat

Hi,

Not surprised you are having trouble. I myself, only recently, had trouble
with installing jaws 2020. I had an authorization problem with windows 10.
Like you, i had to uninstall everything and reinstall everything.
Perhaps freedom scientific should look at this version of jaws again, and
take the bugs out of it.
God knows what else is wrong that hasn't been discovered yet.

I have tried to update to the latest jaws 2020 on a windows 7 32bit
system and when I do my system starts rebooting over and over. I get
the error that the gdihooks.dll is missing from my computer and to
reinstall the software. I finally got it to work removing all the
jaws installations and only installing a 2003 build of 2020. Now, on
my laptop running windows 10 had no problems with the 2004.66 update
of jaws 2020. go figure!

Hi Kevin,

Seems like you have Conversation view Turned On. In this the emails will show up as Threads

If you Turn this Off you'll get separate individual emails, rather than an email with multiple threads.

Hope this helps

Hello, I’m using WS10, Office2016 and most recent version of Jaws2020. I switched the order of the information that shows when on the outside of an email in Outlook. I then changed the view to have the subject first. Now there are emails that I have to press enter on twice. I talked to Microsoft accessibility and they said it was caused by the email having a string of emails and the subject lines are different from one to another. Looking at the email The emails after the current one doesn’t show a subject line. Not sure how MS could say the subject line was different. Plus why would a different subject line cause me to need to press enter twice. I have other emails that have multiple emails within the current one and I only have to press enter once. Any suggestions? Thanks, Kevin

Hi all,
How can I effectively use Whatsapp web? Per my experience, JAWS
doesn't read everythin in a sequential manner.
If not, Whatsapp web, any other way of using whatsapp on a laptop?
Thanks

I was in such a meeting on Wednesday. And what happened was the organizers sent each of us a group invitation to as he would say break off. Once receiving the invitation, we clicked on the link and we were in a separate group. Simple.

Hello,

My guess is that if there are breakout sessions you will have to login into the session/room that you want to participate.

The Organizer should be sending out instructions and links to the separate rooms for you to choose from.

In other words I don’t think you can just split off to separate rooms while on the main session.

Hope this is clear.

Hello group,

Tomorrow morning, I will be participating in a Zoom conference that includes break-out sessions. I assume that there is a tab within Zoom that identifies break-out sessions, (I would think by number) from which I can select the one that I want to join. Is this how it works? I would appreciate some clarification regarding this scenario.

I seemed to have solved my problem.

I could not understand why when I hit the JAWS key page down to get the number of messages in my In Box, that I would get something like 8 messages when there were none.

Today I hit shift tab from my In Box list and found a button saying other In Box.  I hit that and other messages showed up.  Once I deleted those messages the key stroke works fine.  On another In Box I monitor, I had to shift tab several times until I found other check box not checked.  When I checked it the missing messages showed up.  To get back to the original In Box, shift tab until you find focus check box not checked and check it.

I do  not know if this is something with Office 360 or what, but I hope this may help someone else.

I had this exact issue.  You need to turn off formatting in Outlook.  You may need to do this for each Outlook folder since sometimes apply this view to all folders does not work.  Since I had trouble figuring where to turn this off, I did have the rep at the Microsoft Disability Help Desk do this for me.  All has worked since.  Sorry I cannot provide detailed steps to turn this off for you.

Greetings all can someone suggest how I might fix this problem. Instead of reading the number of messages jaws says   connectivity to your server I think it has to do with how outlook is set up in terms of the folder view but not sure.

Hi,

I have installed Firefox, Google Chrome, coupled with IE 11, and edge. I am primarily using IE 11 and edge is close behind. However, some sites that I have to visit for college purposes requires me to utilize all of them some time or the other.
