Hi,

You won’t find some settings easily, I’m afraid, partly because Edge 81 is based on Chromium so it’ll look similar to Chrome up to a point. The best way to find certain settings is searching for them – that’s also the recommended method to look for certain things in Settings app (Windows+I).

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi Tom,
I am also a newly totally blind person. Below is instruction that was sent out a few months ago. Hope it will help.

Here below is the instructions to set the on start page in the new Chromium Edge.

How to set on start page in Chromium Edge:

1. Open Edge settings  ALT+F,S
2. TAB once, down arrow 3 times to on start, hit Enter (the On Startup Pane is now open with three radio buttons.
3. Navigate to and activate the third radio button, Open a specific page or pages.  Once you've done that the Add a new page button becomes available - Activate it
4. In the add a new page dialog that pops up, enter the URL of the page you'd like to have open when Edge starts.  You've said you want Google, so enter google.com.
5. Navigate to the Add button after the text box where you entered the URL, and activate it.

You're done.  Now when you open Edge it will show Google.com as the start page, which is what you're looking for.  The Start page and the home page can

moderated problems with mail and JAWS?

Ashleigh Piccinino

Hello,

Recently, I’ve been experiencing a weird problem with Windows mail and JAWS. It’s now hit or miss as to whether JAWS will read e-mails as they’re open, bring up the thing where it says “mail start groups navigation” and a whole bunch of stuff, open the message but make it appear blank, or just crash. If I’m not making se4nse here, it doesn’t make sense to me either. However, I’m just wondering if any of you have had this issue? It’s been going on for me for quite some time but can’t really pin it on when my computer was taken into the shop for servicing/updates, and that was before I started my winter semester this year.

Thank you,

Ashleigh Piccinino

P.S. another happening with JAWS and the mail app is that I can’t reach any attachments with tabbing as JAWS just crashes. Everything’s on the latest updates, so …

Subject: Using JAWS to create a label for a button on a web site, which has no text label

Hello everyone:

The other day, I accessed a web site, which on the whole, was very accessible.

Unfortunately, there were 2 problems. the first, was the link, which took you to the shopping basket page. This link had no text lable, to tell a user of a screen reader the purpose of the link. The link is a standard HTML coded link.

the second is a standard HTML button, which also does not have a text label.
This button is for removing an item from the shopping basket.

My question is, is there a way within JAWS, where you can attach labels to specific links and buttons on an individual web site?

The link and button on this web site are not graphics

Thanks in anticipation.

See if the following steps work for you:

Log in to your WordPress site.

Find “Posts.” I have a placemarker set here.

On the next page, search for the current title of the post you want to edit or delete.

To edit, click on the edit link under the post’s title. When you land on the next page, you will have the option to edit the various fields. Be sure to end by clicking the “Update” button or your changes will be lost.

To delete a post, click on the link below the title. as I recall, it’s labeled “Send to trash.”

Were you able to get openwrt to work with wifi 6 or 80211ac? The page I looked at seemed to indicate that only 80211G was supported or something, but I'd need at least N I'd think. What sort of router did you get? I liked openwrt when I used it, but haven't been able to find a supported router lately. Maybe they haven't updated the hardware table?

I installed OpenWRT on my router, which is very accessible via the Web interface or via the command line  using Secure Shell (ssh). If you want to use the command line, JAWS is very effective in Windows Powershell (for which there’s a built-in ssh Windows client), or in Windows Subsystem for Linux. For the Web interface, I doubt that it matters which browser you use.

Hi.  Routers are accessible through their web interface.  Ask the technician who will help you set up your router to give you your router's web address.  The address might, for example, be 192.168.2.154, something like that.  Then you can access it as you would any web site and set up the router on your own if you need to.  Cheers!

What browser are you using to work inside of WordPress?  I am primarily a Mac user, but am running Windows 10 as a virtual machine.  I seem to have the best luck with my edits using Chrome (latest version) on Win 10 version 1909.
I am very new to WordPress and attribute most of my problems with my unfamiliarity of the platform.  Also if you know of any sites or podcasts that provide some hints and tips it would be greatly appreciated.  I am trying to avoid purchasing the $99 book that I keep coming across.

Whatever router you decide on, make sure it uses WI-FI 5, or MU-MIMO .
But now routers are using WI-FI 6, and although we might all have the
Internet speeds available by our ISP, these devices manage the sharing of
available band width better and more efficiently.
Here's a good article:
https://www.cnet.com/news/wi-fi-6-and-what-it-means-for-you-wifi-routers/
But personally, I think that having USB ports for either a backup drive to
access over the network, or to be able to boot Linux throughthe network is
critical.
But Jeff, although you only have 15 things on your router, I foresee all of
us having a lot more things on our personal networks.
And on your router, have you tried a hard reset?
And if you do get a new one, be sure to use the same SSID and password you
currently use so everything will automatically connect to the new router.

I think I might be in the market for a new router myself. I got my
stimulus payment and figure it's a good way to use some of it.

However, I'm not as concerned with accessibility as I am with
performance. I'm experiencing an issue with my current router where the
5 GHz band frequently crashes, disconnecting all the devices and
requiring a reboot of the router. I can't figure out what is causing
this and am completely baffled as to how to troubleshoot it.

I'm hoping that upgrading to new hardware will resolve the problem. I
have about 15 wifi devices connected simultaneously, a third of them are
connected to the 5 GHz band.

Since I'm investing in a new router, I'd like to get one that offers
wifi 6 support, but I live in a 1 level apartment that's less than 1000
square feet, so I don't need a mesh router. What I want to know is which
features should I be considering to support this many devices with room
to expand. Does a triband router support more devices? I've read
something about streams and the speeds a router will provide. What
should I be looking for in a router? Brand recommendations would also be
helpful.

Thanks,
