Scratch that last question, as I had a temporary lapse.  Right on MP3Tag's main webpage it states, "Furthermore, it supports online database lookups from, e.g., Discogs, MusicBrainz or freedb, allowing you to automatically gather proper tags and download cover art for your music library."

Thanks for that confirmation that MP3Tag is accessible.  Given the style of its interface I thought it would be.

I have only used it to do limited metadata editing for a few tracks where fetching the information when ripping "burped" and left it unpopulated.  Do you happen to know if MP3Tag has a function where it does much like most media players do, and will attempt to fetch the metadata for all the tracks you are working on in a single folder?  I've never played with that, if it even exists, but if it does it's a much easier thing to try than hand editing, which is tedious, but sometimes necessary.

If the below info doesn’t help, you probably should write to support@...

This is from the Duxbury site:

Note: The Windows process below is normally specific to a particular USB port. You should choose a USB port which you will always use to connect your embosser. Before you add a "printer" as documented below, make sure you first close DBT. (You want to launch it after this step so that it will notice the new printer driver you just installed.)

You now need to "Add a Printer," which is done in the normal way in Windows. In particular, you should select "Local Printer," and specifically NOT ask Windows to detect the printer automatically.

You will then be asked to select a printer port. From the drop down list of ports, look for "USB### (Virtual Printer Port for USB)," where ### will be a USB port number. If more than one USB port appears in the list, and the newly purchased cable for this purpose was the last thing you connected to the computer's USB ports then choose the port with the highest number.

At the next dialog, you will be asked to select a printer. In this case, from the Manufacturer list select "Generic," and from Printers list select "Generic /Text Only" as shown below.

You will be asked to name your printer, and at this point, we suggest you enter a meaningful name by adding "(Brailler on USB Port)" - or the like - to the name suggested by Windows.

Eventually, the process will ask if you wish to print a test page. We suggest you answer "Yes". Provided you have selected the correct port, this test will emboss about two pages of test data. What is important is that you get the output, not the braille itself. The braille is likely to be untranslated.

You are now ready to set up your embosser inside DBT. The full instructions for configuring a new embosser are covered in Global: Embosser Setup. However, there is one helpful point to add to that discussion. In the General Tab, Output Options section of that dialog, select your newly installed embosser using the "Send to Printer" selection as shown below.

We suggest you test the installation with a short document to ensure that you have correctly configured your embosser

Under Word options, alt-f, then t; arrowe to proofing and tab once for autocorrect options dot dot dot. Enter on this. ctrl+tab to autoformat, and tab to bullets and numbering to uncheck it.

To get rid of bullets and numbering already on a page, press home to get to the beginning of the bulleted/numbered line and then backspace to make the character disappear. You can also select the whole document, press alt+h, then u for bullets or n for numbers, fine "none" in the resulting grid, and whack enter on that to remove all the bullets or numbers on a page.

Hi Mike,

OK. Now I finally got brave enough to get into Word and make some changes in the settings. Hopefully, I didn’t do too much damage. (smile). Thank you. And I am glad I made the changes in JAWS as well. I’m tentative when it comes to changing settings, and I had forgotten a lot that I used to know. So I’m glad I played around with it tonight and I’m happy with what I accomplished.

Thanks again. And thanks to Chris for guiding me through the Word settings.

Thanks, Mike. I like your suggested change in settings, because I’d prefer correcting my spelling after I have finished. Otherwise, the corrections interrupt my flow of thoughts. But, unfortunately, the computer is still making some changes on my behalf which I haven’t authorized. I don’t even know about them. For example, If I key in 2 hyphens to make a dash, the computer changes it to an n dash without telling me. That’s not so bad, but that’s the best example I can give you right now.

Perhaps I will look into Word settings just as someone else suggested.

moderated Re: Reading PDF Documents with Line Numbers

If one opens a PDF file using MS-Word, you can use the advanced find feature to find the first non-numeric character in the document.

1. Once the document is open in Word, hit ALT+H,FD,A to open the advanced search (AKA Find and Replace) dialog, you will only be using the Find tab, not replace, and the Find tab is what should open by default.

2. The first time you open the dialog in Word, if you have started Word afresh, you will not be showing the group of checkboxes you need to have access to.  There is a More button, activate it, or press ALT+M.  Either method gets the advanced find option checkboxes visible and accessible.  Once you have done this, and step 3, if you have not closed MS-Word, when you bring up the advanced find dialog again the Use Wildcards checkbox will remain checked.  But if you close word, and open it again, you will have to repeat this step and step 3.

3. Navigate to the Use wildcards checkbox, and check it, or use ALT+U to toggle it on.

4. Navigate back to the Find what edit box, or hit ALT+N to throw focus there.   In that box, enter exactly what follows, starting with the open square bracket to the end of th the line:  [a-z][A-Z]

5. Navigate to the Find Next button, and activate it, or use ALT+F to activate it.  This should take you to the first lowercase or uppercase character in the document, bypassing all numeric characters that occur prior to it.

6. Close the dialog, and you should have focus on that first letter in the first line of words in your converted PDF.

Kelby,
I have an idea for you to try. When the PDF opens, could you hit "J" to open the jump to line dialog box. It might take a bit of trial to figure out what value to enter to skip past the numbers you are hearing at the beginning, but maybe it would save you the arrowing down. If each page has roughly the same number of lines on it, the value you enter would likely be the same for each document or page. Just an idea that I cannot test.
