I certainly don't see anything in it that would be of much use to most
of us, however I do fear not being able to apply future patches and so
I did the update.

Debbie,

Here is the way to do this because the way you tried the dialoge is not accessable.

From jaws tech team that called me today;

In a excel workbook,

Do the following,

Alt p s p

This puts you in the page layout

Now control tab to headders and footers tab

Then arrow down and choose header or fotter and hit enter then you can tab through the same kind of fields like in the dialog box you and I could not access

Hello All

I’m trying to insert a header into my workbook in MS Excel 2016, however every time I go into the header and footer options, JAWS will not read any text or option at all. Has anyone else also come across this problem and if so, is there a way around it. I’m using JAWS 18 and windows 10 if that’s of any help.

Thanks

Hi all,

JAWS has been losing focus for years and, whenever I brought it up with
them, they denied it. Now, at least, they admit that there is a problem. In
Windows 10, its worse than it ever was. I hope they can get their act
together and, anytime soon would be good.

Importance: High

The frequency of JAWS crashing and reloading, or losing focus, has
dramatically increased. I don't know if it's a matter of still needing to
work out how to play with Windows 10 nicely, but so far, trying to work with
JAWS and Windows 10 is a great deal more frustrating than it had been in
Windows 7 or 8.

focus more frequently than it used to. Is there a way to avoid this?

Hi. Mine windows creator update came via windows update, and then it downloaded, took a couple of hours or more, being a 3 gb, even though ai have a fast connection, 3 or 4 or 5 mb per sec via http://www.myrepublic.com.au, and now just very slow, everyone trying to grab it, and doing it via windows update, about 40 or more minutes, last time I checked, using the jaws touch cursur, was only up to 4 or 5 %, and don’t like to leave my machine on battery, my satellite pro c-50a, 6 or 7 hours, don’t want to leave it on power. So will do a shutdown, and then restart tomorrow, and then see if it picks up from that time on , 5 %, don’t want a clean install. Took me three weeks to upgrade my hundreds of student programming projects, for my programming courses, from visual studio community 2015 to 2017, and now learning about sql via sql management studio. Don’t want a clean install, just upgrade and yes got jaws 18.0.2378. and for the windows update, you have to use the jaws touch cursur.

This is for a barcode scanner the scanner will scan a UPC into a html web site!

It’s for work duty’s in a warehouse, picking orders, inventory, & shipping stuff like that.

I know some of the newer IDMates have WiFi & maybe some kind of web browser.

My scanners are all the older models with no support for WiFi!

I am shure are iOS will do the web site, just not shure how well scanning UPC’s will be with the cam on such devices!

Maybe an old version of MobileSpeak would work if you can find one and a license. This was a product from Code Factory.

Re: windows update and jaws windows 10

Shai

Hello Marvin,
I would try using the JAWS touch cursor instead of the pc cursor.
According to the help file, this is for standard applications which do
not always work with the pc or virtual pc cursor. Activating this
option allows for using the arrow keys or controls on a braille
display to navigate elements in an application similar to using a
touch screen. This has worked for me in Windows update when JAWS does
not always announce information. To activate this option, press shift
plus numbpad plus or shift plus capslock plus semicolon if on a laptop
when you are in the Windows update screen. To toggle this option off
and return to the pc cursor, press the plus key again on your keyboard
or capslock plus semicolon if you are on a laptop and have JAWS set
for this keyboard layout.
Hope this helps

Thanks
