Well, I was booted off a group the very first time I sent an email. I wanted to test to see first, what my message looked like, and then to make sure the message got to the list. I had never been on any list and did not understand some of the rules. With no discussion, I was told that I was kicked off because I was cross-posting. I asked what that was an was advices that was sending to multiple groups/people. Because I had put my name in the bcc field instead of the cc field, there was no way to prove what I did. Anyway, if they wanted to be that rude about it, I didn't need to belong to that group.

So, here I am, trying a very busy group (sorry for taking up time for those that choose to read this) and finding nearly 100% cooperation between posters. Thanks for all the assistance.

We that have joined the group as Window-Eyes migrators, have not been around long enough to get any type of monthly reminders, so do not even know if there is a password or not. I do not believe I saw one in my welcome message, but, of course, I could be wrong. Either way, most groups do not require a password just to unsubscribe. Usually, there is a button on the first page that one can click to unsubscribe.
Sometimes, it is below the password entry box, but it has been my experience, in the past, that there is a message that indicates one is not needed to unsubscribe.

Laura, try going to a word document.

1. Press Alt-F-T.
2. Control-Tab to Advanced.
3. Tab and tab until just this side of Forever. You'll see
an option about bullets and numbers.
4. Uncheck that option.
5. Tab way, way past forever until you get to OK. I'm not
kidding, there must be 100 options on that tab.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

Re: 5th time - to unsubscribe

Hi,
In a nutshell, Groups.IO is not your typical mailing list provider. Yes, it does let you create, moderate and delete email lists, but certain features are available from the web interface such as wiki, calendar, poll and so on.
When you join a list hosted by Groups.IO (such as this one), you won't be required to register on a website nor provide a password. Same goes if you wish to leave a list. You might be asked to log into the web interface if you need to perform some actions from the web interface such as muting threads, participating in polls, editing public wikis and so on.
There are folks here who have a lot of experience with Groups.IO from both member and admin perspectives (Brian Vogel, for instance can tell you about this from both angles). I tend to specialize on managing groups with one or more subgroups, wikis, calendar, online poll and so on. Talking about Groups.IO is, I think, a discussion that deserves its own thread.
Cheers,
Joseph

Actually, Windows-B is a Windows command, and gives more information than Insert-F11. When I press Insert-F11, I get eight items read, but when I press Windows-B, I get those plus my clock read. I know that there is the JAWS command for the clock, Insert-F12; nevertheless, the Windows-B provides more information.

Re: Automatic numbering MS Word 2016

Hi Laura,

This is one of those things where unless you have done it you can look for a long time to find it. A quick Google search gave me the following instructions, I put a link to the article at the end:

Word 2016, 2013 & 2010

Select the “File” menu and “Options“, key shortcut is Alt+F followed by "T"

Select the “Proofing” tab on the left pane (it is the third one down).

Select “AutoCorrect Options…“ (it is the first button when pressing tab or you can do Alt+A).

Select the “AutoFormat As You Type” tab (easiest if you use the "Control+Tab command to get to that tab/page)

Uncheck the “Automatic bulleted lists” and “Automatic numbered lists” options. Click “OK“.

Click "OK" again in the main Options window.

Word 2007

From the “Office Button” menu, select “Word Options“.

Click “Proofing“.

Click “AutoCorrect Options“, and then click the “AutoFormat As You Type” tab.

Under “Apply as you type“, deselect “Automatic bulleted lists” and “Automatic numbered lists“.

Click “OK” and you’re done.

Here is the link of the article I got this from:

https://www.technipages.com/word-disable-automatic-numbering-and-bulleting

If you want to do the same in Outlook, also use Alt+F followed by "T" to get to Options. Now go to the "Mail" tab on the left, then use Alt+S and spacebar to go to and activate the "Spelling and Auto Correct" button, then Alt+A for "Auto Correct options".

From here on it's the same as above, use Control+Tab to go to the "AutoFormat As You Type” tab/page, tab down to the automatic bulleting and numbering checkbopxes, uncheck them, tab to OK and activate, then "OK" again and you are done.

Sieghard

Excellent idea. Not to make excuses but, I remember a sighted computer teacher told me, "I can see it on your computer but your screen reader is not reading it out to you or skips right over what you want." That could be my fault but, in your case, Island savings may not be aware of any accessibility issues. So, if you take your laptop into them, they will be able to see exactly what your doing and, be able to fix or suggest something be fixed so you can pay bills online. I remember I wanted to look at highway conditions on my big screen T V. I hooked up my lap top to it. But, could not make the picture of the road conditions any bigger. I phoned the Highway department. They went into the so-called accessibility link on the website and, then said it was not even that accessible for the sighted never mind a blind person.

Kevin, there is a lot to be said about what one of the mods said, "What banking institution are you using." The banking institution I use is not a main stream bank. More like a co-op type bank. So, it was not as cut and dried to start using online banking with them. Thankfully they made it more accessible for the blind. In the beginning, you had to click on pictures to get into the banking. Such as the question was what was the address of your first house? They'd have a picture of a house and you'd have to enter the answer. Fat lot of good that did for someone who is blind. That was part of their security questions. Now it is a lot easier, especially if I remember to use Firefox when doing online banking. All other things, I use I E or Firefox. Whichever is the easiest. I've not yet mastered copying listen live radio station shortcuts on my desktop with firefox to then, paste into a folder.

I would suggest she at least try Voc
Rehab.  She has an excellent case, and in my experience, voc rehab agencies are more likely to provide funding in this type of situation because it is directly related to a person getting or keeping a job, or expanding her productivity and usefulness, thus giving her better work experience and better job opportunities.  If she is initially denied, each state must have a fair hearing appeals process, and this sounds like a case that she is likely to prevail.  No guarantees of course, but her situation should fit right in the wheel house of what a voc rehab agency would want to fund.

Tim,

The only thing I'll disagree with you on is the "for good reason" part.  At this point in history there are any number of open-source projects, PSPP happening to be one of them but Libre Office, NVDA, Chromium, and the list goes on, that are well established as stable, viable products.

But my main point was that there is no clear indication that SPSS is fully accessible, and PSPP may be better in that regard.  Also, I was not (and am not) certain that the original questioner may not be doing freelance work or working for a very small company.  There are definite limits to what a state vocational rehabilitation agency is will be willing to pay.  Just now looking at the IBM SPSS Page to buy the most basic version as a single user desktop application costs $1,210 per year (with one year of technical support), and most won't buy subscription services (which is nearly the same cost at $99/month).  For the ultra premium package the cost is $8050.  See:  https://www.ibm.com/us-en/marketplace/spss-statistics/purchase#product-header.   You would need to have a mighty solid case, with almost ironclad requirement that this was not "an experiment," before most would put out that kind of money for a non-mainstream and non-assistive technology.  (Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.  Multiple times).

off topic, grinRe: 5th time - to unsubscribe

Carol Smith

Well, I am using office 365 and all the links that should be there such as
unsubscribing from the list, are, at the end of each message posted. Don't
know about Thunderbird as, the last time I used it years ago, it was
deleting messages I didn't want it too. I'd have 10 messages in the inbox,
The message I wanted to reply too was the 5 down, somehow that one would get
deleted. So after this happened more often then I wanted, I ditched
Thunderbird.
