Hello,
Wouldn't it be cool if we actually knew these people as they
originally wer/are? However, some/most might've died out but left heir
recordings to use for voices with JAWS/decktalk and other things. BY the
way, I believe Caren's already married to Lee-another Australian, you
know? This is just my opinion.

Well, "sexy" is in the ear of the beholder, that's for sure.

I've found some of the "foreign" (for the United States) accented voices
on Garmin, particularly one of the British female and Australian male,
voices to be rather mellifluous and somewhat sexy. Everyone's mileage
will, of course, vary,

I don't find, for instance, the SAPI voice "Microsoft David" that I use
with NVDA "sexy" but I do find it, in many instances, particularly when
it's reading through something at beyond the letter or word levels to be
remarkably lifelike in most instances.

Not knowing the synthesizers that various people are using it's
impossible to suggest generic ways to search for a "sexy" voice for
them, but I'd be willing to bet that someone has created them, even if
they're not commercially available, but it's a matter of finding them.
Inflection, breathiness (or lack thereof), and vowel duration are a lot
of what get's tagged as "sexy" when you think about voices in real
people that are described as sexy. These are parameters that it's
possible to control in a speech synthesizer.

It would be an absolute riot to create a "femme fatale" or the male
counterpart thereof synthesized voices for use with anything, screen
reader or not. I don't think that anyone would use the most "over the
top" versions for any period of time, but they could make for great
entertainment value over a short term.

Since I updated the computer to Windows 10 Creator's edition, and
JAWS to 18.0.2945, the cursor often jumps to the bottom of an email
in Eudora, instead of reading from the beginning of the
message. NVDA reads correctly, so it probably isn't Eudora or
Windows 10, but I haven't a clue where to look to solve the
problem. Pressing ctrl+home moves the cursor to the top of the
headers, and I can work from there; but it used to go to the top of
the message. I have been told often by FS that they no longer
support Eudora, but one would think there is a way to get back to
reading the stinkin' mesage instead of skipping past it to the bottom
of the page.

Any ideas????
Ann

P.S. Don't tell me why I shouldn't use Eudora. That isn't the solution.

Mike B. <mb69mach1@...>

Do you remember how you accessed this particular area?  What I mean is, do you remember what keystroke you used?  Here's some keystroke ideas.  Insert + V, would take you to, Quick Settings, for the currently running application.  If you pressed the, Applications key or Shift + F10, this would have opened the context menu.  Pressing, Insert + 6, on the number row would have opened the Settings Center, or pressing, Insert + F2, would have opened a list of Jaws managers, & the Settings Center, could have been accessed from here as well.
What operating system are you running, & what version of Jaws?  Thanks much.

It was a box that showed that Windows was checked. When I found the context area there was the word general. I really didn’t make any changes, but after I went to ok, it was reading correctly. This is about all I can remember about this area. I have only been using JAWS since May 17 and I still have a lot to learn.

features/shortcuts stay and which get retired (removed). I don't know if

alt+shift+t announces the total length after a file has been loaded.
alt+shift+e announces the elapsed time during or after pausing playback.

I'm not an aficionado and I'm sure the scripts have other "hotkeys" I
don't know about.

But that script does not do what the op asked for -- unless I am
missing something.

Greetings,

I am a new Jaws user.
Are there hotkeys for Jaws to read various elements in GoldWave such as,
length, current position, etc.?
If there are free scripts, where does one find them?

Thanks,
Richard

Well, I hate to be a stick in the mud but, I use vocalizer expressive and can’t duplicate the problem mentioned.

This only happens when I use the vocalizer voices. I get emails from Our Daily Bread, and Proverbs-31 Ministries.  It does not happen when I use Eloquence.

Hi Stanley,

I can't reproduce your reading issue.  What are your settings in, Settings Center / Text Processing / Number & Date Processing / these 3 settings:

Numeric Date Processing

Number Processing &

Speak Single Digits

Are you using Eloquence, or something different?  Also, which Jaws version, & what operating system.

Take care.  Mike.  Go Dodgers!

Whenever I am reading the bible with JAWS it reads John 3:16 as 3 hours 16 minutes. What do I need to change in JAWS to have this read it right?

Hi Melissa,

Thank you very much for the clarification.  I don't use the Vocalizer voices, & just couldn't reproduce the problem with Eloquence.

Re: How to subscribe to this list; for a friend

Have your friend send an e-mail message to:  main+help@jfw.groups.io

He or she will receive an e-mail back with all the information on subscribing, unsubscribing, managing one's message delivery options, how to get in touch with the group owner(s), and more.

What I used to do and I don’t really recommend this to people is in the welcome message, send the link to a friend about posting to the group.  That person would post to the group, the message would get rejected and instructions would be sent to subscribe to that group.  Also, I’ve joined a lot of groups by list members putting another group address in the CC field.  I click reply to all and that group gets my reply, rejects it but, as mentioned, they send me a message about how to subscribe to that group.

Hi,

I’d like to email a good friend of mine a direct link to subscribe to this list.

Where would I come up with that; I didn’t seem to find that in the links below each email on this list.

Thanks much!......Mike
