Hey guyts,

OK i am drawing a huge blank. I'm running windows 7 and jfw 18. I am
trying to make it so all my mp3 files play in winamp. When i would
highlight a bunch of them i'd do a right click and i'd have a bunch of
options like q in winamp, play in winamp, etc. I have winamp
installed, but those options aren't coming up. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jed

Hi Ann,

Have you tried saving the file on a flash drive, then opening the same file
on the other computer. Once it is open, do a ctrl A to select all then
pressing Shift F10 or the application key then go into the font dialog box
and manipulate some of the settings such as the color, size, and style etc.

One of the programs I use with my student has a non-standard highlight.
With a lot of cussing and fussing I was able to reassign the highlight
indicator to reference the foreground and background colors of the program
so that JAWS spoke the text on the screen. when I put the stinker on a new
computer, however, I was unable to locate the text in order to tell JAWS
about the colors. How can I copy the information from the old
JAWS/computer? I have looked at Explore my Settings, personalized settings,
and any number of other clever things, but can't find a sneaky little JAWS
file that applies itself to the program I tweaked. Oh, where, oh, where,
has that stinkin' highlight reference gone????

Much thanks,

I ran across this annoyance, and what I did, after repairing did not
work, I:

pressed insert+numrow 6, then pressed control+shift+d.
and then searched for the following settings and changed their choice to
the following:

Numeric Date Processing, No Translation.
Number Processing, Controlled By Synthesizer.
If Number Contains, Controlled By the Synthesizer.

then pressing tab to and space bar on the OK button.
afterwards, dates were being read normally for me. try it.

Bill:

I tried your steps below, and made sure that override reading order was checked.  Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is also set to read the entire document.

Still, I am stuck on the first page of the document in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

For now, I’ll go with my original solution of taking the document through Convenient OCR, and then copying and pasting it into a Noepad document.

At least that will give me the document in accessible text format.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this issue.

Hi, Tom. Try the following. Open Acrobat Reader.

1. Open Preferences with CONTROL plus K.

2. In the tree view, arrow down to Reading.

3. Tab until you see a check box which says:

Override Reading order of tagged documents.

4. Make sure this box is checked.

5. TAB to OK, and press ENTER.

6. Close Acrobat Reader.

7. Reopen the document with which you have been having trouble.

8. If it asks you about options for processing the document such as Infer reading order from document, TAB past this to the Start button, and let the Acrobat Reader process the document.

9. With the Override Reading Order of Tagged Documents box checked, you should now be able to go past the first page of the document.

Hello, everyone.

I am having a problem reading a few PDF articles I have just been sent.

Once I open the attachments, via Adobe Acrobat DC, I find that I cannot advance beyond the first page of each article, either via the arrow keys, or the page up and page down keys.

Interestingly, when I use my arrow keys and the page up or down keys, the visual sscreen advances with no problem.  In other words, Jaws appears to be  stuck on the first page and is unable to advance through the rest of the file.

I’m using Windows 7 and the latest build of Jaws 18 here, along with Adobe Acrobat DC.

Any suggestions would be apreciated.

Leasey update brings good improvements for Thunderbird users

Hi,

I know Thunderbird has been discussed quite a bit lately and while I don't use it I thought I post the "What's New" information from the latest update of Brian Hartgen's Leasey scripts. Anybody who doesn't know what Leasey is can read about at http://hartgen.org/leaseycentral.

These scripts are not cheap, 100 british pounds, approx. $130 US, but Brian offers a very affordable payment plan, 4 payments of $47/quarter, and whether you pay outright or in stallments, once paid in full it's yours and you get free updates.

There truely is so much functionality built into these scripts that even as a very experienced Jaws user I find them quite useful.

New in this version of Leasey.

When using Mozilla Thunderbird Version 52.0.1 or above, previously if using JAWS 17 or below, the list of messages could not be read. This is now available

in this update.

Considerable improvements have been made to using iTunes. This is the first phase of the new development for JAWS and iTunes. We expect to improve this

dramatically in the summer feature update.

When using the Outlook 2016 calendar, JAWS will output the information in its default form, at least for now.

When accessing a YouTube video through Google Chrome, the keystrokes for pausing, playing and skipping through the video are now working.

Introduced a new keystroke, ALT+Control+Windows+Semicolon, relating to LeaseyClips. This is a toggle keystroke. When the feature is enabled and copying

text to a LeaseyClip, an edit box will be available displaying the text to be copied. When disabled, the Edit Box will not appear which is the preferred

method for optimum productivity.

If you try to set or locate a LeaseyPoint, and you are in an unsupported environment such as the Desktop, Leasey advises you that this is not possible.

The Hotkey Help for LeaseyClips and LeaseyPoints has been updated.

The Canadian audio library in LeaseySearch has had a change of name and website to which it refers.

When composing an appointment in the LeaseyDiary, the subject field prompt now advises not to include punctuation.

When inserting Emoji, JAWS now says the word, inserted, rather than, selected.

The next Leasey update will include further refinements to iTunes, Kindle and many new features.

Regards,

Sieghard

The short answer is that split buttons give you different options depending on whether you press enter on it or use the arrow keys. The arrow keys give more options than the enter key, which seems to be much more limited. As I don't typically play with these buttons, I can't tell you what all they do.

But, another place you might find them would be on a download page. There, you might have a save split button and you can then choose things like whether to open or save a file or make modifications to the title or where you want to store it. Any, there are a few of them around, but I generally try to stick to standard options, myself.

Hi Judith,

I run Word 2010 as well, & it makes me wonder if a Windows update screwed up Word, & the way Jaws would report line info in Word.  But, good news!  While in a .DOCX file you press, Control, Shift, + G, you'll get all kinds of info including line count  Now, just so I'm not getting anything confused, you are wanting the number of lines correct?.  Or, are you wanting the number of a line you're on?

Take care.  Mike.  Go Dodgers!

I would press insert in conjunction with 0 on the numb pad and hear the page number, the line number and the number of words in the document.  Especially with the line number this information is essential in formatting a document.  Can you help me get it back?  No, I don’t know how it disappeared.  It must have happened during one of my recent hospital stays.

Re: Reversed Documents List

Actually in this submenu for sort order there is also options for "ascending" or "descending". Another way is to use the Jaws cursor and double click on the "File Name" column header.

Hi, Shirley. A split button is a button which offers more than one option. For example, if using Internet Explorer11, you can press ALT plus N when saving a file. If you TAB, you will see a Save Split Button. The Split part is that the button is split between different functions. Once you click on the Split Button, if you arrow up and down, you will see three different choices:
Save,
Save As,
And
Save and Open.

Hi Carol, Mario, and all:

Thank you, Carol. And thank you, Mario, I appreciate your input because I was having a problem going through the other steps. I think my biggest problem is that I've been using XP and FINALLY went up to Windows 7. I'm still figuring out how to use it. I don't think Alt plus V brings up a view minue. But maybe I'm just off base here. Any way, going over to Names "split button" is great.

More ignorance here: What exactly is meant by "split button" instead of just "button?" I'm probably using them correctly but never found a definition.

Thanks again for your patience and help.
