Describing the contents of a region?
Mark
Is there a command or script that would make JAWS describe the contents of a region? For example, it might say that the main region has 3 headings, 4 lists, 10 links, and so on. It could save time from figuring it out more manually.

Jim Rawls
Hi all, I know you aren't supposed to cross post, but I am frustrated, and can't figure out what to do. first of all, I am running jaws 2020 on a windows ten computer. I have downloaded and installed the brave browser. Now that I have done that, I can't figure out how to set it up,. Frown. When I go to the brave browser icon on my desk top, and hit enter I HEAR jaws say the following.https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/#topic=6243095obviously I should hear something differentgt.so how to set up the brave browser? And now that I have done it, is it really worth it, or is chrome just the same as brave? I would appreciate any help on setting up the brave browser. An thanks for your help. Jim

Re: eBook access with JAWS
Ed Culpepper
Thorium.com offers download of an e-book reader that I have found to be highly accessible with Jaws 2020 – after some initially frustrating orientation. Learning how and when to open the “Navigation” menu is trial and error at first. I learned about the Thorium reader from this list. Reading a book with Kindle (or Thorium) try clicking on the chapter number/title when you are in the table of contents in order to go to the chapter text. I have found that I sometimes have to go to the table of contents, click a chapter I want to read, read the chapter, return to the table of contents, and click another chapter in order to keep reading.

IME, if you open Chrome's downloads with control+j if it isn't open already, arrow down and you'll find a "keep" link or button. press space bar on it to complete the download, or just use Firefox to avoid having to do this.

Just wondering, the recent FS question and answer session where the JAWS 2021 beta was mentioned, is that sesssion run using Microsoft Teams or Zoom?
Secondly, is the beta out yet?

Ebook acces with JAWS
Justin Mcdevitt
Hello Group, I have read a number of Ebooks using IOs and have just purchased an ebook that I would like to access/read using JAWS. I downloaded Kindle for PC and although I was able to read the table of contents, I was not able to open a specific chapter to read its content. I’m sure there are keyboard commands that allow me to do this. I just need to look them up. In addition to Kindle, I would appreciate any recommendations for programs that are compatible with JAWS, specifically designed for reding Ebooks. On a related note, I would ideally like to use the built-in braille display on my Apex, as an additional reading option though this might not be doable if the book is protected and what formats are compatible with the Apex. I would appreciate any input regar ding my inquiry. Best, Justin

That is truely horrible. Can I share with the accessibility community? To try and resolve, try changing the click behaviour for that web page. Look for the word simulate in quick settings and find the setting for that site (the results should show up twice, once for general and once for specific site) and then toggle the setting. Feel free to reply directly to me! Jonathan cohn

Re: Keystroke needed to move between two open Acrobat Reader DC files
Hi robin,
I thought maybe troll was the new slang for control after finding ctrl + tab was the way to move between open Acrobat documents.
Thanks for your help.

Robin,
I appreciate your quick reply but I don't have a Troll key on my keyboard. Could you have meant something else?

Troll Tab is working for me in Acrobat DC, but I’m in Windows 10, so hopefully that will still work in Win 7.
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Alan Lemly
Hi List,
I'm using Windows 7 and have two open PDF files in Acrobat Reader DC. In the past, I've always been able to cycle between open files using the alt + tab keystroke but I'm only getting one occurrence of Acrobat Reader and have to access its open files using the Windows menu and arrowing through it. Does anyone know of a keystroke that will let me move between the open Acrobat Reader files? Barring that, is there a Windows 7 setting that will present open files individually so that alt + tab will allow me to cycle between them? I think this must be an Acrobat Reader setting because if I open more than one Microsoft Excel file, I'm able to currently move between them using alt + tab.
Thanks in advance for your help.

outlook 2019 with jaws 2019
William Windels
Hello, ON my workplace, My office 2013 is updated to office 2019 with jaws 2019.
Some strange things:
1. When I am in the messagelist, enter is no longer opening the message but I need ctrl+o. Whi could this be?
2. I placed a menu-item in the quick-access bar and this should be activated with alt+1 (because it’s the first nitem in the quick access bar). Since jaws has also a hotkey with alt+1 in outlook, I simply delete de alt+1 option in the oudlook.jkm-file. Here, with outlook 2019, because of a strange reason, I can’t delete the assignement of that key in the outlook.jkm-file.
3. And some outlook related issues: My signature from office 2013 on this computer is no longer available in the update I use now with outlook 2019. And, I defined some replacements in the auto-correction section in office 2013 and they are still there but when I type the replacement, the long phrase is not coming up.
Thx in advance for any remarks,
Kind regards, William Windels
