Re: Outlook Question
Adrian Spratt
Another way to handle tables in Outlook is to prevent it from handling them as tables. In the following instructions posted by Mike B, I don’t recall if medium” applies to all users or just those who have made that setting. You may need to substitute your setting on line 6:
1. Open the Settings Center while in Outlook. 2. Down arrow or first-letter navigate to, Web / HTML / PDFs. Pres enter. 3. Down arrow again or first-letter navigate to, Web / HTML / PDFs closed, right arrow to open. 4. Down arrow or first-letter navigate to, Reading, right arrow to open. 5. Down arrow or first-letter navigate to, Configure Web Verbosity Levels closed, right arrow to open. 6. Down arrow or first-letter navigate to, Medium..., spacebar to open. Don't press enter. 7. Down arrow many times or first-letter navigate to, Table grid checked, and uncheck it. 8. Tab to Okay. Tab to apply. Tab to Okay again.

I have not done this, but it seems that if Jaws is coming over the headphones and the computer sounds are on the speakers, the alt+s and share computer sound should work without Jaws then going to everyone.

First of all, if you're sharing audio, you're using the speakers rather than the microphone. Zoom doesn't really clarify this, but when you share audio, you're streaming content that each participant hears on their chosen audio device. JAWS can't be routed to a microphone input, unless you have an inexplicable situation like I do with my Blue Yeti stereo USB microphone. Because it has a headphone output for monitoring the mic's sound right from the mic itself, the mic appears as both a microphone and speaker. This wouldn't be so bad if Windows didn't insist on using this phantom speaker as an audio device. Of course, since nothing is connecting this headphone output to any speaker, it's silent. >How do I go about ensuring that JAWS sound is not heard when I go to >share computer sound? >I know that I can also turn off JAWS speech, but I would rather try >to find a solution that does not have me doing this step. Hello Afik,

Thank you for your reply. If the devices were the same in JAWS and Zoom, then the sound of JAWS would be emitted on the other person's computer if I shared computer sound. I am trying not to have JAWS heard on the other side and just the audio of the music or occasionally video from Youtube that I would be playing.

I do press the space bar and it doesn’t tell me it is checked. I did start over and pressed that one time thinking I turned it on. I then had to listen to audio and enter the words. I was able to do it. Yet I couldn’t get off that page. There was no error message saying something was wrong. I do have an account. I cleared out browser data and still the same problems. Any thoughts? Thanks, Kevin

This sounds like possibly a speaker setting if there are any. Early MP3 players used to behave like this to make it sound like you were listening to a radio station where the DJ fades in one song as the previous song is ending.

Thank you Loy, I noticed there are four options, 1. only from the Microsoft Store, 2. anywhere, but warn me if tit is not from the Microsoft store, 3. anywhere but let me know if there is a comparable app in the Microsoft store, and 4. Anywhere.
That should help in the future.

Here is the steps to tell Windows to let you install non Windows Store apps This will fix your problem. 1. Click Start > Click Settings. 2. In the Settings window, click Apps. 3. In Apps & Features, change “Choose where to get apps” from The Microsoft Store only (recommended) to Anywhere. 4. Close the Settings window. The change will only take effect when you close the window. ----- Original Message ----- From: Randy Meyer Sent: Saturday, September 12, 2020 2:27 PM Subject: Re: I Cannot Install the new JAWS Beta

Dear Listers:
I understand that the new JAWS 2021 Beta version has just come out. I am trying to install it. I am using a Desktop computer, Windows 10 and the latest version of JAWS. I have downloaded and saved the application for the new Beta version but when I go to the folder where it is and hit the Enter key after locating it, instead of giving me the option to install it I am getting a dialog that just says “get app from store.” I know apps are only used with phones and I don’t know how to handle apps as I have only a cell phone, not an i-phone, so I don’t know how to rectify this problem and download the Beta version to my Desktop.

Have you tried unloading jaws immediately after hitting the install? That lets the jaws runtime version take over speech. Or, Maybe try running Narrator instead of leaving Jaws running when trying to install the beta?

That should open the program as maximized, but a friend had the same problem and he only had to press, Windows key + up arrow, to maximize and it took care of the problem. I guess sometimes the screen won't maximize on its own like it's supposed to. At least that was the problem in his case, maybe it won't work for you but it's only something to try.
