That sounds like a big difference. In August of 2015, I bought a Lenovo
Windows 8 with a 1 TB, and the computer was $500. Of course, it took a whole
lot of updating, but it's been a good one. So $500 for 500 gb, a dollar a
gb, huh?
That sounds high to me. I got mine from Office Max if you want to check them
out.

Carolyn

I am planning to purchase the new surface pro that was recently announced.
My main concerns are to get enough RAM followed by the processor speed. As
for the SSD Drive, I'm looking at a 512 GB unit or the 1 TB unit. I'm
leaning away from the larger hard drive due to the $500 difference in price.
It seems rather high to gain an additional 500 GB.
Am I missing something here which should be considered in my decision?
Thanks.

I remember my first desktop computer purchased back in 1987. I paid $500 for a 20 Meg hard drive so I would not have to use 5 and a quarter floppy disks to install programs.

DECtalk USB Question

Pastor Gil Pries <gilp@...>

Hi,

I just got the DECtalk USB synthesizer.

I’ve noticed 2 things going on with it.

First, when I use the say-=-all command on the weatherunderground web page, it speaks for a while then stops.  I then have to restart Jaws.

The second thing is that Jaws isn’t keeping my changes that I make to my voice profile for the DECtalk USB.

Anybody encounter either one of these problems, and what did you do to solve them?

Thanks,

Pastor Gil

Re: Microsoft 365 Outlook with Jaws

Jason White

With many Office365 subscription plans, you receive a license to the full desktop versions of the office applications, including Outlook. You are not required to use the Web-based versions. The desktop software is automatically kept up to date for as long as you (or your organization if they bought the subscription) continue to subscribe.

Hi,

I’m running Linux (Vinux) in a virtual machine on my laptop running Windows 10 and Jaws 18. I used VMware Workstation 12 Player, which is free for non-commercial use, for creating my virtual machine, and it works well with Jaws, so I see no reason why VirtualBox would not work with Jaws.

According to what I have read elsewhere, its configuration process is accessible, but I haven’t tried it yet. VirtualBox is also reputed to have an excellent command line interface, which should enable you to work around any GUI accessibility issues.
